stick47 07-07-2016, 06:35 PM I failed to mention my later jobs. Sacker in a grocery store for which I made $1.10/hr and after I got off work I'd ride the Cushman down to the end of town and help the widow woman who owned the Help Yourself Laundry. Made $2 a night for an hour and a halfs work sweeping, mopping, etc.
zookeeper 07-07-2016, 07:00 PM One thing is consistently left out of this thread. Back when we made low wages as teens to do these service jobs, Mom and Dad (or sometimes just Dad) went to work for big companies, many industrial, that paid good wages and good benefits, pensions, etc. Today? Mom and Dad are very often having to work in the service economy because all of our "good" jobs are in foreign countries. For those with few skills, it's a different world today. They can't go turn a screw at the same job for 30 years and raise a family.
FighttheGoodFight 07-08-2016, 09:19 AM In early 2015 there was talk of an In N Out location at the Rayzor Ranch commercial development in Denton. Anybody heard anything about this? I would love for them to start moving up I-35 toward Oklahoma!!!
They really are expanding slowly in TX. I was amazed that Denton still didn't have one last time I was in town
warreng88 07-08-2016, 09:21 AM In high school, my first real job was at Wal-Mart as a cashier. $5.50/hour. My mom owned a store in Tulsa called Kabet's and I worked there for $5/hour when I was 13.
Lubbock is getting an In-n-Out, and they're 5 hours from Dallas. :(
emtefury 07-08-2016, 10:12 PM They really are expanding slowly in TX. I was amazed that Denton still didn't have one last time I was in town
In and Out is known to expand very very slow. I read I forget where they will open a place a days drove from a distribution center. There is one in Dallas now, so we will eventually get one.
Soonerinfiniti 08-05-2016, 04:03 PM Comments on their Facebook page say there is a Coming Soon sign in Denton, TX, just off I-35. Just need them to keep moving north....
soonerguru 08-09-2016, 12:37 AM Honestly, by the time we see one in OKC the love affair with In-n-Out will have passed its expiration date.

I agree, I'd rather have a Shake Shack here.

Can you explain to me what the deal is with SS? I went to the one in WeHo a few times and it wasn't bad but the burger had a really weird taste. I hope they didn't add their secret sauce, but it is consistent.

Lol at that source. Kevin Roden is my city councilman and a good guy (agree or disagree with his stances). We have some haters here in Denton.

So is the In N Out in Denton going to be in the Rayzor Ranch (?) development on I-35 & Hwy. 380 intersection?

From everything I've seen, yes.
Which is good, cause when I'm down that away that's the first area I hit up for gas and food before getting deeper in the nightmare of the metroplex.

This.
traxx 08-15-2016, 01:00 PM Oh, yes, I absolutely remember when FDR established the minimum wage solely to give teens entry level jobs so that they can have some spending cash and get work experience.
Erm... Actually, no, he didn't say that. At all. Not even close. What he actually said was:
12754
Not sure why you singled me out for your little passive aggressive post. Someone earlier asked what people's first jobs were and what they were paid. Many people other than me answered the question. Quoting FDR doesn't help your case. He expanded government and gave people the idea that they should be able to do a job that required minimal skill and intelligence but still get paid the same as someone doing a job that took considerable skill and intelligence.
Let's please get back to discussing In-n-Out.
Thanks.

Love Shake Shack!
emtefury 08-15-2016, 10:48 PM With the talk about wages in the thread, I was at in and out burger when I visited Dallas this weekend. There was a sign outside advertising hiring at $11 per hour. If I was a high schooler I would be applying.
Of course it was delicious.
Bunty 08-16-2016, 03:05 AM I agree, I'd rather have a Shake Shack here.
Why is it so good? Are the shakes better than the ones at the Sonic?

If their burgers are so delicious, why the hell did they name it In-N-Out Burger? That just isn't a very appetizing name.

So is the Garage, like their Hawaiian burger.

Fast food. Get in, get your burger, get out.

As in, you could get in and out of the restaurant very quickly. In 1948, they were among the first restaurants - if not the first - to have a drive-through in the way we know it today, allowing for a faster speed of service vs the carhop system that was prevalent then. okcgeoff 09-02-2016, 02:20 PM Just thought I would add that I got to visit with a store manager at one of the Dallas locations about two weeks ago. He mentioned that there had been an internal survey this summer for store managers about potential relocation to OKC. He has heard that OKC and Houston are candidates for their next major market but he thinks that OKC could be first. This truly is the greatest fast food chain in America IMHO. I would urge all of you to contact In-N-Out corporate about our city.
http://www.in-n-out.com/contact
I'm sure that we will eventually see them here but for us die hard fans that day can't come soon enough!
Sancho 09-02-2016, 04:15 PM In-n-Out is probably the worst fast food burger I have ever had in my life. The fries arent even edible.
Mind-blowing that this **** burger chain has a thread 9 pages long in a market where we dont even have one.
Remember when people lost their minds when Krispy Kreme finally showed up in OKC, then they realized it was just another donut?
In-N-Out will be similar, only people will realize it tastes like **** compared to virtually any other burger in the metro.

Bro, do you even burger?
Sancho 09-02-2016, 04:26 PM Bro, do you even burger?
Yes, and thats why I have such a low opinion of this place. In-N-Out is exactly the kind of **** sandwich that would gain its popularity on the West coast where people have never actually eaten a good burger in their lives.
village idiot 09-02-2016, 05:26 PM My favorite thing about In-n-Out Burger is the limited selection. You order a hamburger or a cheeseburger then you move out of the way so the next person can order. No standing around for five minutes trying to decide if you want the #1,#2,#3. . .and so on. JMO!

I will admit their fries leave a little bit to be desired, but to take a dump on the burgers? You are insane.
It's not in the same league as a Nick's burger, etc. because -- well it's not in the same league. It's a fast food restaurant--it's market is shared by McDonald's, Burger King, Wendy's, Carl's Jr, and Jack In The Box. In-N-Out has the best fast food burger by far.
It's unfair to compare it to a burger at a sit-down restaurant or greasy-spoon, because it's not even the same category.

You are right, that would be unfair. That's why i didnt do that. I specifically said its the worst fastfood burger.
stile99 09-03-2016, 08:01 AM I specifically said its the worst fastfood burger.
Correct, you did. But you also said "compared to virtually any other burger in the metro." Thus, people are objecting to that unfair comparison.

jerrywall 09-03-2016, 05:57 PM I'm not as extreme as some here, but honestly? I've had both and I'll take Whataburger anyway and I know several friends who've felt the same. We've even had the discussion at work and the opinion was pretty much unanimous. I mean, I'm all for more chains and businesses. But I don't hold it on some alter.

I agree Whataburger is good fast food burger. And so is Five Guys. But this homeboy up here is acting like In-N-Out is garbage and McDonalds makes a better burger. Which is asinine and a total grab at trying to get attention. With that said I feel as though there are 2 levels of fast food burgers, and the ones mentioned are in the upper level for sure.

As a burger lover, I can't complain about any burger joint. Each one really has their own flavor which I may crave one day and not the next. There are times when the flavor of the In-N-Out burger does not sound good, but a BBQ double cheeseburger at Burger King does sound good. Other days a McDonald's standard double cheeseburger sounds good. The quality and flavor of each vary, so really it is difficult to honestly compare taste which is a completely impossible thing as each of us have different tastes, and your body craves different flavors day to day and even meal to meal.
stick47 09-04-2016, 02:00 PM Hate to be a buzz killer but if you don't want a date with the widow maker like I had, you need to make sure that burger you like doesn't have trans fat in it. Artery disease is real and trans fats are a cause. (I only eat Freddys Steak Burgers now. )

In-n-Out does not have trans fats. What burgers have trans fats anyway? The only food I'm aware of that has trans fats now is Long John Silver's.
progressiveboy 09-13-2016, 08:35 PM Shake Shack just opened last week in Uptown Dallas off McKinney Ave. Have not tried it ye! Lines very very long!

Sonic & Chicken Express are two I know of right off plus I found this list but have not coroborated any of the items mentioned.

Edit to add that I know that Long John Silvers no longer have trans fats in their Fish and more item.

Have had it a bunch back east...meh. Def would not stand in line for it. We're spoiled with great burgers here.

This list appears old. Most of these joints have ditched trans fats. McDs hasn't had them in their fry vats for years. Thank you, Michael Bloomberg.

game changer. I usually get in-n-out when I'm in Dallas which is fairly frequently. I will now be going to shake shack
Soonerinfiniti 02-10-2017, 03:30 PM In-N-Out Burger open in Denton! Is Ardmore next?

Update to this last time in Dallas, we went to shake shack and it's awesome. Super long lines

They opened another in the DFW market? Come on, throw us a bone here and put one in OKC.
^
It's a food distribution thing. Much easier to open close to the locations they already have.
TU 'cane 02-11-2017, 08:43 AM Right, my understanding is its similar to Braums. They don't go out of a certain radius away from their farms.

I second this. In-n-Out is good, but in my opinion Shake Shack was on another level when I tried it in NYC a few months back.

I see in and out going to Norman before Ardmore.

Really like In-N-Out but agreed would definitely rather have a Shake Shack
Roger S 02-11-2017, 10:23 PM In-N-Out Burger open in Denton! Is Ardmore next?
No way they come to Ardmore. They don't want to try and compete with Hamburger Inn. ;)
