DammitDan 03-01-2013, 03:40 PM I was told that the original plans for a mediterranean restaurant was squashed because KFC removed ALL the HVAC equipment in the building when they left, making it too costly to put anything in there. They do a good lunch business and their dinner has not picked up yet. I talked with the owner and he said they are planning on adding a patio to the west of the restaurant. He already has the plans, he is just waiting on a permit. CCOKC 10-29-2013, 11:12 PM I have been there a few times and enjoyed it very much. I usually get the veggie sampler and think their spanikopitas are the best I have ever had. CurtisJ 11-04-2013, 03:14 PM They were previously located out in Midwest City area, it was one of my go-to lunch spots when I worked in the area. It makes me sad that shortly after I left midtown they moved so close. They honestly have the best Fallafel I have ever tried. Martin 11-04-2013, 03:25 PM I happened to try this place out last week and enjoyed it... had the 'governor' gyro since i wanted to try both their chicken and gyro meat and really enjoyed the roasted peppers on it. -M bandnerd 11-14-2013, 11:31 AM We went to Basil Mediterranean on 23rd a few weeks ago. Here (http://www.hcpmarionette.com/?p=2479) is what they thought of it. BBatesokc 11-14-2013, 11:45 AM I really like this place. Eaten there a couple of times and the food was always good - not great - but good and not some fried mess that sits in your stomach like a rock. Interior is a bit sketchy (as in low budget renovations), but the staff has always been friendly. I also like Garbanzo Mediterranean Grill. LakeEffect 11-14-2013, 12:45 PM I really like this place. Interior is a bit sketchy (as in low budget renovations), but the staff has always been friendly. I also like Garbanzo Mediterranean Grill. I wasn't as impressed as I wanted to be... partly due to the interior, I agree. Also, for the same people that own Zorba's, it didn't seem quite up to that level. Need to get back. I have a hard time going to Garbanzo, even though I like the owner of this franchise and Ryan Parrot (his Director of Operations). There are just too many tasty, locally owned, cheaper places to go before a franchised operation. 'Ol Gyro is my favorite (was the Olive Branch in downtown). Rajah 11-14-2013, 12:58 PM I think I'm spoiled with Zam Zam's. This place didn't even compare. BillyOcean 11-14-2013, 01:43 PM food is definitely good, not great, but definitely good. the place was a little dirty the one time I have been though, hope that was an exception for them. I will be back. HangryHippo 11-14-2013, 02:15 PM I think I'm spoiled with Zam Zam's. This place didn't even compare. Zam Zam's isn't anything close to what it was before the cook was deported. Before that, it was amazing. Teo9969 11-14-2013, 02:38 PM All this place did was make me miss Europe :-( It's not bad…but…we're really not even close to the Kebab's and Gyros you can find in Europe…A lot of it has to do with the quality of the meat, which here is very very very processed (as opposed to just very processed) Rajah 11-14-2013, 03:13 PM Zam Zam's isn't anything close to what it was before the cook was deported. I've been to Ol Gyro, and even though I know it's owned by the Olive Branch folks, it's just not the same to me. HangryHippo 11-14-2013, 04:10 PM Where is Ol Gyro? Food tasted better and seemed fresher than either Basil or Garbanzo. bandnerd 11-14-2013, 05:56 PM I really need to get to more Mediterranean places around here. Or, I could just go to Kabob 'n Curry more often. Win-win. But really, I should branch out. Basil Med was fine for me, but I think I chose well. The other time I went, I had a beef kabob and rice and it was pretty much just like Zorba's. The pistachio baklava was my favorite. Had a bit of a kick to it. Zorba's has the yummy tomato-artichoke soup on Sundays that I've not had anywhere else. Feel free to suggest places for us to visit! This next time we're going in the morning so we could use some breakfast places to try. We only have about 90 minutes, though, so it has to be close to the city center :) Last year we hit up Classen Grill and Cafe Kacao for breakfast. kevinpate 11-14-2013, 08:49 PM I really need to get to more Mediterranean places around here. What restrictions do you have on doing in-kind services for advertising space? If you have any flexibility, perhaps a ride to/fm a place in exchange for some ad space with some local company which offers transport services for prom groups winter dances, etc.? If straight out ad space isn't possible, what about a plug as part of the story, like the nods given to the companies who provide things for game shows. RadicalModerate 11-16-2013, 09:57 AM Would you consider what is available at Caper's to be Mediterranean food? We ate there once and I thought it was fantastic. Step 1 (of 490) to making 23rd pedestrian friendly! Pete 07-11-2019, 08:08 AM I walked most of 23rd between Western and Robinson a few nights ago and there was trash and weeds everywhere. This is a big problem just about everywhere in OKC. More trashcans (that actually get emptied instead of left to overflow, if there are any at all) would go a long way. I'd be happy to pick up trash if there was someplace to put it and I know the cans would get emptied on a regular basis.
