Information & Latest News
From the top of the 80 foot SandRidge Sky Trail, guests will have the option of taking the fast Sky Slide (the slide run out has recently been extended to accommodate fast slide mats) to the bottom, step off the Rumble Drop for an 70 foot free fall, or zip from southeast corner of the tower over the river for a fast 700 foot ride to a tower on the south bank of the river. Guests will then climb higher on the south tower and take a second zip across the river again (with a great view of downtown) to a landing platform on the north bank adjacent to the future SandRidge Youth Pavilion. The majority of the new south tower has been fabricated by Ropes Courses Inc and is currently in Michigan. The zip line will utilize Zip Stop technology to enhance the experience and the speed of the zip for a very safe and smooth ride. With the new MAPS 3 river stadium lights complete, the night zip line experiences will also be possible and truly spectacular - adding another unique element to the world class adventure attractions and boathouses of the Boathouse District (and future whitewater center).

This project is moving forward with a design application being submitted.

You will start from the top of the existing tower, zip over to a new south shore tower, then return to a new, small north shore tower.

See article above for more renderings.

This is great! Will it be done by Spring?

Given how fast the main tower went up it seem like it could, if it does not it would probably be due to all the time it takes to fill out the red tape

If you mean south tower yes (or at least most of it), though I tend to think of the small platform by the where the Sandridge Pavilion is going as the return platform

I mean the north tower. If that's the south tower, they on the wrong side o' the River.

Outside of a massive redesign, it is way more material than is in the north platform and they said the south tower construction was starting today. It probably was just parked their overnight, since there it is on city property, construction did not start till today (the day after the photo was taken). It will either need to be transported via what is probably private road of the railroad or over the jogging trail. Sitting overnight on the sloped grass, trail or RR property was probably less feasible option than sitting on land that is going to be massively altered by bulldozers in the next year or two.

Steve's update.

http://www.oklahoman.com/article/4520104?embargo=1

Towers are going up for a much anticipated zip line that will cross the Oklahoma River — just one of several new attractions and amenities being added along the increasingly popular waterway.
“The installation team thinks they can get the zip line vertical in a week,” said Mike Knopp, director of the Oklahoma River Boathouse Foundation. “We will then do staff training, certifications and, after that, we will start an opening of it toward late May, with a full opening on Memorial Day weekend.”

The tower in the photo is in the right spot, though the only thing in the area the Photoshoped zip-line could be attached to is a couple of light poles.

Here is an unedited version of background

I found a cropped version of the original of her too, it is from the smaller temporary zip-line they set up a couple of the larger events in the last few years.

And on the completely wrong side of the river.

That's not the zip (only) tower; what you are seeing is the Sandridge Sky Trail in its proper location. The Sky Trail serves as the jumping-off point (literally) for the zip line on the north side of the river.

Not sure how much either weighs right now (Shaq surely 300+) but Mike Knopp acted like my current (unfortunate) weight of 265-ish would not even come close to the limit when I mentioned that I wanted to do it.

I went down there today. It's cool...almost too big for the slide. I wanted to do the Rumble Drop but they only have so many of a specific type of rope line they attach to your body harness. Anyway, I did the slide once and that was it. The zipline was booked until up to 6pm and we didn't plan on being there that long. Lots of fun for the nephew and niece though and my sister and I and them bounced on the bounce pad.

I will definitely go back at another point for a zipline opportunity and I'd love to try the kayaking or Stand Up Paddling.

Yeah, but you don't get to ride the zipline ALL DAY.. Like I said, it's stupid. You get one shot at the zipline and you're 1 of 25 people that do it in an hour.

Why do you say you don't get to do the zipline all day? From their website "get a RIVERSPORT Extreme Day Pass for $50 and play all day on all RIVERSPORT Adventure attractions and zip across the river as many times as you want."

I have never been so I don't know, but OKCisOK4me was saying you spend half the day waiting in line. So at best you could go a lot of times on a slow day, but certainly not as many times as you want. Not in the literal sense anyway.

Ah. I have a season pass. Never been on the weekends, but during the week the place is dead every time I go - except maybe when some bus arrives with a large group. I've never waited longer than 10 minutes during the week and normally there is no wait at all.

Probably like the difference between Frontier City on a Tuesday night compared to a Saturday afternoon. To me it would be worth taking a day off work to take the kids during the week to avoid the hour long wait times (but that's just me).

Because I was down there yesterday and asked them repeatedly "so if I bought a season pass I can't be like VIP and bypass all the one timers?" and the specifically told me no. If that's not true then the girl and the guy working the booth need to be fired cause they obviously don't know what they're talking about.

Apparently since they're closed on Mondays, Tuesday tends to be one of their busier days. It may be slow during the other weekdays but Tuesday was planned for and the only day we could go.

No...the zip line was booked til 6pm. You can purchase a ticket to do the zipline 1 time with 25 other people in your designated hour. They give you a voucher and you redeem it when your hour becomes available for one time use of the line.

It's quite asinine.
