Not that its 'so over the top great' - but I love me some Torchy's Tacos from Austin. It's my goto 'fast food' choice when I'm visiting.

I'd take it over BTT or other casual Mexican fare any day.

I would say Boston Market. Out of all of Charlotte's great restaurants, I can't believe I actually miss a fast food chain the most. However, eating there was a regular occurrence for me (Pappadeaux was not). I don't think OKC has any fast-casual rotisserie chicken places other than the Wal-Mart deli. Somebody correct me if I am wrong on that.

I would like to see a Salt Lick BBQ set up like the one in Driftwood (outside of Austin) with a large outdoor space, live music right on the Oklahoma River. Maybe near the DT Airpark once that area gets better developed.

In and out would be nice but there are so many great burger places here that I would be ok if we didn't get one. Ten years ago, I would have been dying for one.

This is tough, I have a few I would really like to see, but right now I am really hungry for Corky's Barbecue out of Memphis, so I will go with that for the moment. I think this thread will vary based on my current craving.

Corky's is pretty good. Personally I think the Memphis style of BBQ is my favorite. It's a regional thing though and I would be surprised to see it come this far west.

My two top choices have already been mentioned with Torchys and Fogo De Chao, but a personal favorite of mine that destroys any barbecue in OKC is Railhead Smokehouse in Fort Worth

I enjoyed it when I was down there, but Lucile's Stateside Bistro in Fort Worth. They're not expanding. Just a one owner restaurant. Will eat there again next time I'm down there.

For fast food, I suppose an In-n-Out would be cool. I have never been to one though, just based on the hype. A Boston Market would be cool, just to have one and to me, it seems like a cool place to hang out and study.

Really, OKC's restaurant scene is actually really good and vastly improving. There are so many options now is unreal. I would like to build two restaurants here in OKC one day, a concept similar to the Magic Time machine, but a thousand times more awesome. I would like to build that in Bricktown. The other one would be a restaurant that specializes in cooking fried alligator, but has other great Cajun style food. I have found some great locations around lake Arcadia that would be cool for this.

1. Yes, that would be excellent. I think on the canal in Bricktown would be the perfect place
2. Would be nice. Personally I think Penn Square Mall or somewhere on Memorial Rd would be ideal for California Pizza Kitchen

Agree. I particularly like some of the asian food available here. There is also surprisingly good sushi being so far from the coast. I know Trapper's has fried alligator, and its the only alligator I have ever ate. How would you rate it?

Fuddrucker's used to be here. I ate at one at I240 and Western a number of times.

I actually leased space to Fuddrucker's on NW Expressway in the mid 80's.


As for a new restaurant, I would much rather have A Good Egg open another great concept than have another chain move in.

I can't remember if you said you've been to the Ranch or not…you should give 'em a try.

I would rather leave the national Prime Steak chains out of OKC. That probably won't happen though, in which case I'd prefer Morton's over Ruth's or Fleming's (though the 100 wines by the glass would be great to have).

The whole chain closed all but one or two locations. We were regulars there and were told that the local management tried to license the OKC store as a franchise but the mother company was trying to file bankruptcy and didn't want the income a franchise would generate.

The place was busy because they couldn't turn tables. We went three times and the service was super slow. Took forever to get food to the tables. Gotta turn tables to make money. They catered a little bit to our local parrothead club but we stopped going because service was so bad.

Rocky & Carlo's from Chalmette, Louisiana. They have great poboys, fried seafood, and my favorite, Veal Parmesan with my favorite macaroni & cheese anywhere. Ladies invited.

Casa BonitaI loved Casa Bonita. I worked there form 74 to 77. Made some of my best friends there. The guacamole was fantastic and no one does sopapillas like they did.

We have that rule when we travel. We don't eat anywhere that we can eat here in OKC.... We don't rule out chains because when I'm going to Detroit to visit friends I can guarantee you I'm eating some White Castle.
