CaptDave 10-31-2013, 11:04 PM And I can't even begin to go into all the Mel Brooks, Monty Python and Airplane quotes that fly around our house. Because no one expects the Spanish Inquisition! Prunepicker 10-31-2013, 11:54 PM Usually paraphrased to fit whatever situation but "There's no crying in baseball!" You can replace crying and baseball with just about any situation and as long as you say it right, everyone will know what it's from. I don't know what it's from. Seriously, where's the quote from? Jeepnokc 11-01-2013, 01:59 AM I don't know what it's from. Seriously, where's the quote from? Tom hanks. League of their own. Movie about the American girls baseball league . To answer that question one might consider slipping on down to the "Politics" section. OKVision4U 11-01-2013, 07:15 AM History of the World, Part I ; Mel Brooks "It's good to be the king". Harvey Korman TaoMaas 11-01-2013, 10:36 AM It's from a cartoon, not a movie...but a while back, someone I was working with came through with some information I'd been looking for and I told him, "Thanks, Shoeshine Boy. You're humble and loveable." This guys stood up suddenly and said, "What the hell is that supposed to mean?" LOL I had to explain that it was a line from the old Underdog cartoon and that the proper response was to say, "Bless you, sir", then to pretend to bite a coin to see if it was fake. From the way he looked at me, it was obvious he'd never been a fan of the show. Prunepicker 11-01-2013, 03:15 PM Tom hanks. League of their own. Movie about the American girls baseball league. From the way he looked at me, it was obvious he'd never been a fan of the show. A classic case of misapprehension. =) I've often caught myself biting my tongue to keep from saying (in a Foghorn Leghorn manner): "Now boy . . . Ya' gotta listen to me boy . . . 'Cause (etc.)" (and "boy"--within this context--has nothing to do with race, creed, color or age. in fact, most of the dumbest/most "ignorant" "boys" (or "girls") who would be the target of my jape/suggestion/advice/ have been around the sun for at least 50 times. and those less experienced travelers wouldn't get the joke. that's why i don't say it. =) RadicalModerate 11-01-2013, 06:37 PM He was probably related to Simon Bar Sinister. After I mess up on something and I have to do it again I have been known to utter the phrase "This time Tennessee Tuxedo will not fail." The only cartoon villain more despicable than Simon bar Sinister was Crabby Appleton. I can't remember anything he said so this post is off topic and I apologize. I must also admit that I gleaned no communication skills from Scooby-Doo nor Power Rangers. Prunepicker 11-01-2013, 09:30 PM The only cartoon villain more despicable than Simon bar Sinister was Crabby Appleton. I can't remember anything he said so this post is off topic and I apologize. How about, "Simon sez..." He'd say that when using one of his diabolical inventions like the snow gun. OSUMom 11-01-2013, 09:40 PM I didn't know that. Thanx. It's a great movie. Wouldn't you love to have an abbreviated version of "The Launch Code" in that flick as a personalized license plate? Especially if you were driving a Tesla or a Tucker? MWCGuy 11-02-2013, 01:13 AM Best time I have heard a line used is when I was in line at Six Flags in the 80's. They were playing Sleepwalk by Santo and Johnny over the speakers in line to the Texas Giant. At the end of it this guy further up in the line yell's "RICHIE!" like in the ending of La Bamba. The whole crowd busted out laughing it was great. RadicalModerate 11-02-2013, 05:44 AM How about Marlon Brando's classic: "Stellllllllllaaaaaa!" ("Stella") I've used that one a couple of times. =) mkjeeves 11-02-2013, 08:35 AM Call it, Friendo. I agree. =) Now make that Braum's within easy walking distance magically appear. Heck . . . They don't even have to have cannoli's . . . or guns. As long as they don't ban them. Prunepicker 11-04-2013, 11:25 PM More likely, it's from "Goodfellas" . . . I never saw Goodfellas. Is it a movie or a show? I do remember a scene in The Godfather that involved cannoli. The scene was in a field, or something like that, and a guy got wasted in a really cool car. I would have taken the car. I remember a scene in a movie that Charles Bronson sprinkled poison on some cannoli. I think it was one of the Thousand and One Death Wish programs. ljbab728 11-04-2013, 11:33 PM I never saw Goodfellas. Is it a movie or a show? My place is within walking distance of Braum's (within a mile) This isn't an invitation, I'm just telling you. Last year I was about a block from a Braum's. I still took the truck because the dog likes to drive. She's funny that way. People have a need to take her photo and say, "I've never seen a dog drive before". C'mon, the truck has an automatic transmission and cruise control. RadicalModerate 11-05-2013, 12:12 AM "They pissed on my carpet, man. Jeepnokc 11-05-2013, 03:05 PM Not a movie quote that I know of but I have started quoting from this site "Don't hassle me, I'm local". I think Stew has that at bottom of his postings.
