Is it in the center with Buffalo Wild WIngs or near Kohls? It's on the same corner as BWW but North of Danforth on Santa Fe. BWW's and Bonchon share an alley. I just ate three left-over soy ginger wings and they were really, really good. marky_d 07-13-2017, 02:48 AM Apparently Bonchon is now open, so someone report back :) Thomas Vu 07-13-2017, 07:41 AM I saw they're going to apply their soft opening from yesterday to their grand opening. Not sure when the grand opening is. Roger S 07-13-2017, 07:44 AM Can't report about Bonchon but went to Kabob-N-Curry yesterday at 39th and Portland and Tikka Craze has bought them and either opened a second location or moved there from their Edmond location.... I wasn't impressed with Tikka... My biriyani was pretty close to room temperature and the rice was clumpy. The rice at Kabob-N-Curry was always perfect. Roger S 07-13-2017, 08:27 AM Booooo! I loved Kabob-N-Curry. Same here..... Guess it shortened my trip a little. Sheesh Mahal will be my new goto spot. d-usa 07-14-2017, 06:12 PM Apparently Bonchon is now open, so someone report back :) Went today with the family and it was very good. Popcorn chicken and fried chicken were both crisp and moist. We tried the fried octopus balls, which were a tasty mix of octopus with a hint of ginger that would emerge between bites. I had the Bull Dak, which was amazing. Spicy, flavorful, a great mix of textures. Thomas Vu 07-29-2017, 01:17 AM Stopped by Bonchon. Had the potstickers which were good. Maybe twice the size of the ones you see at the average Chinese restaurant, and crispier too. Tried the boneless, the wings, and some bulgogi. The boneless was a bit dry, and a bit more on the breading compared to Chick n beer. Wings were good. Got the whole drum and thigh which was nice. Bulgogi I thought was underseasoned. I wanted to try the fries, maybe next time. corwin1968 08-04-2017, 12:56 PM There is a Pho and Sushi restaurant going in where House of Hunan used to be at NW 178th & Santa Fe. The sign was up last night but they have a long way to go before opening. I think the interior was pretty much gutted and they are starting from scratch. Richard at Remax 09-19-2017, 03:10 PM So the Taco Bell at Santa Fe and Edmond Rd has been bulldozed. Complete rebuild or is something else going there? Pete 09-19-2017, 03:24 PM So the Taco Bell at Santa Fe and Edmond Rd has been bulldozed. Complete rebuild or is something else going there? That property was recently sold to the local franchisee of Burger King. Also is a franchisee for The Blaze, which has one OKC location at 2140 W. Memorial. Just a hunch, but I bet this will be for The Blaze. Richard at Remax 09-19-2017, 03:32 PM As in Blaze Pizza? Pete 09-19-2017, 03:36 PM As in Blaze Pizza? Yes. I'm 98% sure it will be for The Blaze as that seems to be a much higher growth opportunity than Burger King. http://www.blazepizza.com/ Anonymous. 09-19-2017, 04:02 PM Lebron to Edmond, confirmed. d-usa 09-19-2017, 04:06 PM I have heard that it will remain a Taco Bell, and that the complete rebuild was because the access points and drive thru layout was just horrible for that space. Pete 09-19-2017, 04:24 PM I have heard that it will remain a Taco Bell, and that the complete rebuild was because the access points and drive thru layout was just horrible for that space. Yeah, just looked at this more closely and this franchisee also owns some OKC Taco Bells. I bet it will be a scrape and re-do like the one they did near Film Row. jjjumper 09-19-2017, 09:49 PM It's a tear down and rebuild. Same thing will happen to Braum's on Danforth soon. Celebrator 09-19-2017, 10:18 PM It's a tear down and rebuild. Same thing will happen to Braum's on Danforth soon. Good, that place needs it. Thomas Vu 09-19-2017, 11:39 PM Blaze pizza is a great option for that field. In terms of build your own pizza, I think it's the best option. traxx 09-20-2017, 02:04 PM It's a tear down and rebuild. Same thing will happen to Braum's on Danforth soon. They should just tear it down and build a new one at Classen Cirlce. :sofa: It's just a joke... marky_d 09-22-2017, 07:40 AM I heard a rumor that the Taco Bell was going to be rebuilt as one of those new Taco Bell Cantina locations that apparently serve alcohol. Anyone heard anything about this? Zorba 09-23-2017, 11:36 PM It's a tear down and rebuild. Same thing will happen to Braum's on Danforth soon. NOOOO!! I love that Braum's :( I also don't love their current generation stores, they look great from the outside, but I don't like how the sitting area is completely cutoff from the rest of the store, makes it feel closed in. BlackmoreRulz 11-21-2017, 09:43 PM We haven't been by to verify but the Facebook page stated that Sunday was the last day of business before Bonchon shut their doors and closed down. Does anyone know what happened? Every time I have been by there it doesn't look like they're doing much business. Thomas Vu 11-22-2017, 10:54 AM I've heard about service issues from employees. Their run didn't last very long, which is a shame. BBatesokc 12-16-2017, 10:35 AM Don't know if it's been mentioned here or not, but Rocky Mountain Grill (formerly located near 2nd and Coltrane) has been open for a few weeks now in their new location at 3600 E I-35 Frontage Road in Edmond. That's the small strip center south of East 33rd on the east side of I-35. Weird location. Been a few businesses come and go from this location. They don't have a permanent sign up (just a temporary banner). I used to eat their breakfast when they were at their previous location. Loved the breakfast burritos! I went with a neighbor yesterday for lunch. New place is nice and clean. Staff was friendly. There were probably 8 other people inside across 3 tables. Food was okay, but nothing memorable. We both had the homemade chip beef on toast with a side of green beans. We also had an order of beef fajita nachos to try/share. The chipped beef was okay to good (not very hot though - Stouffer's does a better version). The bread wasn't toasted - I prefer it toasted with butter. The green beans were a let down. Tasted like they were poured straight out of a can with no seasoning added and room temperature. I'm surprised the entree was better because we were told by the waitress that "we are known for our chipped beef." The nachos consisted of three large tostada chips with melted cheese and some chunks of fajita beef and a small scoop of sour cream. The tostada was not crispy and the fajita meet was far too chewy. I'd liked to have seen some diced tomatoes, onions and a bit of guac on them. I probably would not order those again. I'll probably go back to try their burger. I like good burger options near my house. I'll also probably go back to see if their breakfast is as good as it used to be. They have a Facebook page with more info and hours... https://www.facebook.com/Rocky-Mountain-Grill-448737068570320/ traxx 12-18-2017, 02:35 PM I'm not sure how anything in that strip stays in business. It's off by itself. It's one of those places you could pass by a hundred times and not notice. And it's not like it's surrounded by a lot of neighborhoods that would frequent it. tsou89 01-05-2018, 06:18 PM The Old Bonchon location has a sign above the door...apparently The Boiling Seafood Restaurant is taking its place. Haven't been able to find a lot out about this place...not sure if it's the same place but I have found some locations in Ohio. Looks to be a place that you order a seafood "boil". You choose your spice or heat level as well as your seafood choice. I've eaten at a similar place in Dallas and enjoyed it quite a bit. I'd assume they will serve other seafood options as well. Looking forward to this opening!! Plutonic Panda 01-05-2018, 07:53 PM I just saw that seafood place today. I might try it this weekend if they're open. soonermike81 01-05-2018, 08:05 PM Oh crap, not sure how I missed Bonchon closing down! Wife and I were only able to get there once, and we really enjoyed it. Been meaning to go back, but don’t have many reasons to go that far north. The one time we went, it seemed pretty busy. However, that was not too long after they opened. Hope the owners or another operator gives it a shot somewhere in OKC. tsou89 02-18-2018, 08:47 AM The Boiling Seafood in the space that was previously Bon Chon appears to be open now. Anxious to hear how it is and try it myself. Thomas Vu 04-18-2018, 02:53 PM If anybody else is curious, the boiling seafood goes by "Shaking seafood & wings". tsou89 04-19-2018, 10:04 PM If anybody else is curious, the boiling seafood goes by "Shaking seafood & wings". Anyone know the reason for the abrupt name swap? Thomas Vu 04-20-2018, 08:20 AM Anyone know the reason for the abrupt name swap? In my skimming I think I saw something about naming conflict with an already established franchise. The sign still says boiling seafood. tsou89 05-14-2018, 08:43 PM Hashtag on Santa Fe is now closed. It was coffee, waffles, etc. only thing open in the strip now is shaking seafood. d-usa 05-14-2018, 10:22 PM That strip is having a lot of turnover. BBatesokc 05-15-2018, 06:26 AM Hashtag on Santa Fe is now closed. It was coffee, waffles, etc. only thing open in the strip now is shaking seafood. That was their second (and last) location to close is it not? Any word if the owner will pursue a different type of venue? jjjumper 05-15-2018, 02:06 PM This agenda has an interesting item #4: http://agenda.edmondok.com:8085/agenda_publish.cfm?id=&mt=ALL&get_month=5&get_year=2018&dsp=ag&seq=6910 tsou89 05-16-2018, 02:14 AM That’s interesting. Now if only that unsightly audiology clinic next door could get a little love... tsou89 06-11-2018, 06:51 PM Decided to give the new Cajun spot in town a try Monday. C’est Si Bon 308 W Edmond Rd. Basically the corner of 2nd and Fretz. I’d looked at the menu on line and liked what I saw. I love Cajun food so I try to get by any new spot I can find. I like spicy. I’m not picky. My go to at most Cajun spots is the etouffe. So that’s what I went with. Unfortunately I was quite disappointed. It tasted as if the roux wasn’t cooked long enough. A very “floury “ taste and texture. Very little flavor and almost no spice (kick). I had to add tobasco to kick it up. At most places it’s usually spicy enough that it doesn’t need help. I’ve had etouffe at several spots around Edmond/OKC and sadly this one is the worst I’ve had and it’s not close! All that being said, I’ll go back for another chance. I’d like to try the catfish and one of the po boys...but not the etouffe ever again! jonny d 06-11-2018, 06:53 PM Decided to give the new Cajun spot in town a try Monday. I didn't get anything uniquely cajun, but I left thinking I'm glad I know Sam's Southern Eatery exists. What cajun places do you recommend? IMO, Off The Hook is easily the best cajun place in OKC. They have a small location at Britton & Broadway Extension, and a larger location at Meridian & SW 19th that also has longer hours. BBatesokc 06-22-2018, 07:11 AM Not sure if it's been mentioned here or not, but the Mexican food truck, Taco Loco, at 15th and Boulevard (SW corner gas station) is legit. We've been there a few times now (most recently last night) and the street tacos are very, very good. As good as any you'll get in S. OKC. Plus, they are still just $1 and $1.50 - 3 tacos with rice and beans $5. Been quesadilla ($5) is excellent too. Every time I've been there has been 4-5 other people getting food too.
