Do any of you pay attention to the fantastic local music scene we have here in Oklahoma City?

I'd post a couple URLs to my site and other local music sites, but I'm getting some SPAM message for not having enough posts.

I checked out your website. I seen the band my father is in "Dan Danger and the Danger Zone" listed on your site as well as many other local bands. Nice website.

dj, I wish I was more familiar with it. But the renaissance seems so rock-based, whereas my taste for live music is in jazz and blues. I like rock, just more so via radio.

Still, I've read about the amazing scene. A lot of bands following the success of the Flaming Lips. Venues popping up all over the place. Some bands getting recording contracts.

I do have a question for you: before I moved away a few years ago, I latched onto two groups: one, Donna Monarch and the DLG, and Conjunto Clave. Are these bands still playing in OKC?

Probably the biggest blues act around right now is Watermelon Slim. His site is down right now, otherwise I'd link it. He's received a lot of national attention for his newest album and just signed with a blues label in Canada.

Another good blues band is The Rounders (http://www.the-rounders.com/). Delta blues, similar to The Black Keys.

I think it's now Donna Monarch and The Inside (http://home.earthlink.net/~sndmonarch/home.htm). That site has a lot of broken links though. They're set to play Lions Park in Norman on August 21.

Conjunto Clave is, sadly, no longer. They were fun too. Boyd Littell, Blaine Nelson and Kasra George Ahmadi are now in the drum and bass band The Ills (http://www.theills.com/).

If you want to see a band similar to the music Conjunto Clave played, check out Orquesta Ron Y Ritmo in Norman. They're playing The Deli this Saturday.

Pulltoy, Headroom, & Push Madaline are all great, local rock bands. Pinkie & The Snake Shakers are awesome too.

I absolutely love going to the local taverns and venues to check out local bands. A local band who has recently signed to a recording label is "Hinder". These boyz, along with numerous other Oklahoma bands (Push Madeline, Pulltoy, Headroom) add to high caliber list of Oklahoma musicans.
