The Jesus Saves sign, Scaramucci said, will be re-created in neon lights.
“We are not trying to recreate in a hokey way, but take the best of the original ideas and do it in a new way,” Scaramucci said. “It's such a quirky building. It's a real opportunity.”
The designs call for a new steel structure to be built within the original brick building, with 3,000 square feet of housing to be created on each floor. Self's home will be on the second floor, while a rental unit will be built on the north ground floor.
The new home will include an enclosed park and two terraces. The building also is being soundproofed to block out noise from nearby trains.

Cocaine 10-06-2013, 01:54 PM Well thats good. I used to talk to the guy who owned this and he was always pretty cool. I guess it's really good they are keeping the original structure.

warreng88 12-26-2013, 08:43 AM I drove by this morning and it looked like the windows on the upper floor had been taken out and a fence was up around it. Looks like work has started but not sure how much has been done since it has been so cold.
betts 12-26-2013, 03:31 PM I love the glass on the stairs, but its totally impractical for me. I would have dog nosey prints everywhere.

Eddie1 05-12-2014, 07:03 PM Drove by this project today and I noticed very little change from when the above pics were taken. Just a comment.
Looks like they have the roof on now:

There was a death in the owner's family and they completely stopped work for a couple of months.
I understand they will be resuming in a couple of weeks.
Construction has re-started (thanks to warreng88 for the photos):

Plutonic Panda 12-30-2015, 03:26 PM This is pretty much finished from the looks of it last night. People moved in. Looks nice.
Urbanized 12-30-2015, 03:31 PM Happened to drive by it today. The openings in the front are now enclosed with glass doors and what appear to be sliding glass doors on the large opening. It looks great.

Urbanized 01-01-2016, 12:12 PM Really cool.
The area been the RR tracks and I-235 has so much potential.
Lots of projects in the works around there.
2Lanez 01-04-2016, 06:18 PM This is so cool. Used to drive by this building almost daily years ago exiting 10th from 235 and thinking how perfect it was for re-development. Hope they keep the Duncan's Bindery name in some form.
