This garage has made significant progress in the last couple of days. Will try to snap some photos today.

This is going up crazy fast. The photos don't tell the story.

Yes, 10th street has been closed between Robinson and Broadway the last two days as the east section of the garage is being built. The construction crane is in the middle of the street. Judging with how fast this thing went up in the last week I would think it won't be there much longer.

I drove by last weekend and it looks like it could be finished within a month.

Drove by today. It has topped out and has the American flag flying up top. I really makes for a great street wall.

According to the sign at the intersection 10th will be closed between Robinson and Broadway until the 31st of May.

That's not very long..maybe a week.

The building permit was for $3 million.

I thought it was closer to the building fronting Broadway than what that picture shows. Kind of a weird gap there.

Was this pre-fab concrete? Is that why it was so fast vs Main St?

Yes, pre-fab similar to what is being used at Fassler Hall.

A lot of Main st was poured on site IIRC. This seems to have been out together like Legos.

I know of 2 of these - one was in the Santa Fe garage and the other accross the street from the Capitol in front of the old history museum, now the State Court bldg.

Yeah the smaller finials are in various parks.

If they don't use that space for the Baum building piece, they should definitely look into making that space functional. Small pocket park, bar, retail, etc. Shipping containers can solve all of our problems :)

But anyway, I am not a fan of the modernist flare on the landscaping. It looks like something Rand would do :/

I think the landscaping is pretty groovy, and to me, it evokes the style of Brian Fitzsimmons. Wait, isn't he the architect on this project? His work is aces.

I saw them as I was driving down the hill on 11th. Thought maybe they were tent poles/platforms for an outdoor festival. It wasn't until I got up to the fence to take a picture that I realized they looked like the panes for the garage. They are kind of neat and I will be interested to see how the finished product looks.

Those louver structures are starting to go up. Looks like they will have some interesting colors and patterns.

Remember... renderings always look better than real life.

I was a non-fan of the renderings at the time, also.

Perhaps it will look neater once (what I assume is) protective papers/coatings are torn off some of the panels.

I think it looks okay. I would have preferred the panels to cover 100% of the south front, instead of just 75% of it.

Uh....I guess I should wait until it is completely finished, but at this stage it is very odd. This is one of those designs that everyone stands around and is afraid to be the one to say they don't get it so as not to be thought of as uncool, but actually nobody gets it. Right now it just looks like someone tried to blow it up. Hopefully it cleans up better.

Is anyone else a little worried how this garage is coming together? I wasn't crazy about the plans to begin with but I remained optimistic. Now that it is starting to take shape, I really don't like how it looks. Maybe if they added some neon so that it fits better in Automobile Alley?

I'm more than a little worried. Different strokes for different folks and all that, but I think this garage is just plain ugly. It looks they tried too hard and ended up puking pastel panels on the side. Very disappointed.

I keep assuming that the panels have some kind of ugly coverings on them that will be taken off at some point. If that's what they really look like then I'm really having trouble figuring out what is going on. Right now the garage kind of reminds me the neighborhood hoarder that has clutter in their yard... Or in this case installed 50 ugly window panels all over their house.

I believe only the green color will stay; the rest is either cardboard or protective film over translucent glass or grayish panels.

I'm with you. I'm usually pretty positive on most developments and there is only so much you can do with a small parking garage, but this is rough. I'll continue withholding judgement until it's finished but it's getting harder by the day.
