bhawes 07-04-2020, 11:55 AM Why not just go to a Sams in your area? Aren't they both about the same type of store? I go to Sams once in a while but have never been to Costco but heard they are about the same.
Costco has better customers service, better products and the
company as a whole treat there employees better than
Sams (Walmart).

Agreed. Kirkland Signature>Members Mark by far. Love Scan & Go at Sam's but I would rather drive the extra 5 minutes and have good customer service guaranteed. It's hit or miss at Sam's for me.
therhett17 07-08-2020, 02:09 PM Anybody know what they're adding/building on to the side of the store? Saw construction earlier going by on the Kilpatrick

It's a new optical department.
jn1780 07-08-2020, 02:17 PM If Costco added more registers ran by employees I would consider going back. Of course there are people who hates the idea of shelf check outs, but if there are more of them and are more user friendly, it makes the checkout experience faster on a Sunday afternoon.
therhett17 07-08-2020, 02:19 PM Ahh gotcha, thanks! You know I'm wondering how Costco can legally get away with having that in their Oklahoma stores... wasn't there a failed state question awhile back that would've allowed places like Walmart to have optical centers?
jdizzle 07-08-2020, 02:20 PM Joined Sam's through a Groupon for $25 for a whole year. Probably won't be joining Costco til after this year expires (unless they come across with a similar offer).

No, a revised statute passed.
Sam's and Walmart are adding optical as well.
therhett17 07-08-2020, 02:27 PM Didn't know that, thanks for the info!
Robert_M 07-13-2020, 01:05 PM Pete any word on when they will start on the new Costco in Moore. Im tired of driving to Costco on north side of town.
They have had the road on Telephone being tore up for several weeks now with what looks like utilities being run so they are probably going to be starting up soon hopefully.
HOT ROD 10-23-2020, 02:25 PM How is Costco doing?
Any word/film on the Moore/S OKC store?
Robert_M 10-29-2020, 10:36 AM Haven't seen any work yet on the actual site for Costco but the city has been getting utilities installed and have been laying the ground work for the road that will take S.W. 25th West and connect to Fritz Blvd there by the Fire Station
Robert_M 11-19-2020, 05:31 PM Drove by the Moore site this evening and a construction trailer is there and they have begun the dirt work and the staking.
Brett 11-21-2020, 10:24 AM Just a heads up for men who have to drop anchor at Costco. I was shopping there yesterday around noon and there was no toilet paper in the stalls. It seems Costco is so concerned with members wearing face masks and social distancing the they are forgetting about basic human hygiene. BYOTP. :Smiley275

Smokey and the Bandit!
East bound and down, loaded up and truckin'
Oh, we gonna do what they say can't be done
We've got a long way to go and a short time to get there
I'm east bound, just watch ol' Bandit run
Costco has moved in and has started staffing up for their new customer care center formerly owned by Hertz.
In the final incentive plan approved by the city, Costco will get $3 million for adding about 1,500 jobs over 5 years at an average salary of $53,900. Most the jobs will be for their e-commerce division with a smaller amount focusing on travel services.

They have only recently started to hire people and this was a Saturday.
Costco has said it will take about 5 years to get to the 1,500 mark.
Bits_Of_Real_Panther 12-02-2020, 11:31 AM Is it a call center? I tried searching positions for this location, only thing posted is customer service representative. Maybe not really hiring yet...mostly curious about what ecommerce positions they have.

Didn't have my drone so this was the best I could do.

Dustin 03-01-2021, 01:40 PM Looks small. How many sqf?
^
Not sure of the square footage but pretty sure this store will be almost identical to the one on Memorial Rd.
bhawes 03-15-2021, 10:59 PM While at the store on Memorial I was told they are trying to open sometime in July. Also they said the Moore store will be a little bigger than the OKC store.

just for scale, the kohl's on the right side of the image is 87k square feet and the home depot just above on the left is just under 105k square feet.
Costco planning to add much more parking to the north (right in the image below) of the building they bought near Quail Springs. That land is now undeveloped.
This facility will end up employing many more than Hertz and at higher pay. Big win for OKC.

I forgot the guys name, some guy in Alaska, who youtubes his visits to his Alaska Costco store.
It's astonishing what the Alaska Costco carries in the building, we'd never see such a variety of inventory for sale in the lower 48. Products that Costco doesn't carry for sale anywhere else.

I wonder if they will change the name of the street to "Costco Quail Springs Parkway".
HOT ROD 03-31-2021, 11:49 PM ^ May as well. Hopefully Costco enjoys OKC and expands even more.
we need MORE Seattle companies expanding/back-officing into OKC. ...
I hadn't been in Costco in a while and was very pleased to see they've added a scanning gun for the self-checkout.
I was able to just leave everything in the cart.

barrettd 06-15-2021, 12:33 PM Yes, this is a huge improvement. Still would love the Scan 'n' Go.
FighttheGoodFight 06-15-2021, 02:04 PM That is a needed improvement. You would be surprised when I go to Sams how many people line up for the two checkout lines that are open. Like 20 people deep with tons of self checkout lines open. I guess I dont get it?

talked to an employee when i was there the other day ... he said that the OKC store is one of about 10 test stores for the self use scan guns ..
HOT ROD 06-16-2021, 06:15 PM any update on the South OKC Costco status?
I hope Costco continues to do well in OKC. I imagine one in West OKC and then finally Central somewhere would be the perfect total (of 4).

warreng88 07-04-2021, 04:38 PM I knew Costco on memorial was closed today, but I went up there to get gas anyways and to my surprise they had all of the pumps locked, like pad locks, on them so no one can get gas there. I assumed, since it was just gas, it would be open. Has anyone else had this issue? Like, are the padlocked at night too? This is the first time I have come up against that.

kukblue1 07-05-2021, 10:46 AM I need new glasses. How is costco for eyewear. Is it worth the membership fee? Will I save the $50 in membership fees to go here to buy glasses. No insurance and 3 years ago my glasses were $450. I guess it depends on frames and lenses but have anyone priced compare with them and say eyemart express.
oklip955 07-05-2021, 11:10 AM You might also look at Sam's club. They have an optical dept also. I've looked at Sam's club frames and was not impressed. I would think that Cosco would be the same. If you just need a cheap pair of glasses then go for it. I have insurance that covers a large part of mine, with that said, I much rather use my local optical shop in Edmond, Sight to See.

If you just need glasses, why not just order online from Zenni or similar? Of course if you have other use for a Costco membership then it might be worth it. I don't have vision insurance and I usually average $100 with online frames and lenses, though my prescription is straightforward no bifocals no astigmatism.
I decided to order my glasses through Warby Parker (the store at Classen Curve).
I really like the frames but the lenses are all wrong in that they are progressives and I have to be looking almost straight down to read anything. I literally can't wear them in front of the computer, which is the main reason I got them.
Next time, I'll go through my eye doc because if this happens again, they'll make it right.
mugofbeer 07-06-2021, 09:24 PM I have progressives and Wal Mart's done it right for years. I don't know if there are any Wal Mart eye centers there yet but cost of the seller hasn't meant low quality for my case.

lots of rumors up that way about a second location coming to south Owasso
Elrenogolf 07-17-2021, 02:13 PM Has anyone heard of Costco possibly going into the Yukon/Mustang area or is this just a rumor I was told??
Employee I spoke today said Costco is planning a Yukon store. No timeline though.

They have been looking at sites near I-40 and Kilpatrick Turnpike.
But as far as I know, they haven't selected a site and made a firm commitment.
