The other side is providing the goods and services that are being paid for. That's how this works.

And they failed in their service which was my main point

Maybe its time for me to be ok with 10% ethanol?

No, ethanol is terrible in the long haul for your engine. The main problem is that it attracts water and that's a huge problem for engines and it's components. Also, you get less gas mileage. Whether or not it's negligible is up to you and your driving habits. 1.5 gallons of ethanol equal the energy of 1.0 gallon of straight up gasoline. Ethanol can completely destroy your engine if there is too much ethanol. Many of the signs say E-10, but notice they usually will say say "at minimum E-10" so that's a minimum amount of ethanol mixed into the gas. There are positives to E-10, like it will never freeze in your fuel lines being an alcohol, and there are many political reasons to use it as it creates more jobs in the midwest (corn producing states) and it also assists in bringing down our emissions released into the atmosphere. Plus some vehicles today are being made to be able to use it and resist the issues above. I would absolutely not use it in an older vehicle because it it will wreak havoc on the rings and engine components and also cause you carburetor problems.

It’s actually “up-to” 10% or minimum 90% gas.

The 1.5 gallon be 1.0 gallon is also 100% ethanol vs 100% gas. So so it takes 1.05 gallons of E10 to equal a pure gallon. So that’s about 21 gallons compared to 20 gallons, and I’m not sure what that comes out to with money spend on either type of gas.

The main issue will likely be older cars and such. I think some lawnmower and other small engines aren’t really ideal for it either.

Sam's off I-40 at S.W. 5th & Meridian access road have lowered their prices in response to Costco.
As grandma use to say, 'Ain't nothing jumping but the peas in the pot; they wouldn't be jumping if the water wasn't hot.

Finally made it out to Costco today with the wife. Got into the parking lot and found a space immediately with no issues. Even though the parking lot was very full, it didn't feel all that crowded inside (until you went to checkout).

My initial impressions:

1.) Definitely get the, "How's Costco different from Sam's? It's like Target is too Walmart." Very similar but higher end and just nicer at Costco.

2.) Hate that Costco allows the "Hey, who is your cable provider?" stalkers in their stores. So annoying and so not what I'd expect at a 'membership' store.

3.) I couldn't detect any free wifi inside the store and my cell reception was complete crap inside there (Sprint). Sam's has free wifi and I find it very convenient.

4.) Loved the higher end brands like Sonos and Apple (iMac and laptops).

5.) Hate how close the registers are. We literally had to keep asking people to give us some space while we were checking. People in the next line were literally up against us.

6.) Really wish they had "Scan and Go" like Sam's does.

7.) Their prepared meals look so much better than the one's at Sam's.

We got our list of 'freebies' and deep discounted stuff that came with our membership, used our $20 gift card (came with the membership) and also bought a solar powered street light post and headed to the checkout. The checkout was really pretty fast and the male cashier was very friendly.

We will definitely shop there on occasion. That said, not giving up the Sam's membership anytime soon, as it's literally just a couple of blocks away.

We finally made it to Costco a couple of nights ago. We went there about 8:00pm, and got our cards. It took about 2 minutes to do that, as I had paid for them online. We walked in and basicly just walked around the store. The one thing I didn't like is they only have 2 handicap buggies for those of us that can't walk the store. They promise that more are comming. 2 are not enough for a big store like that. The store is beautiful. The people are really nice and welcomed us. I can't wait to go back when I have more time to shop.

It's worth noting you have to have a membership to buy gas. Thought someone mentioned upthread you did not. We stopped by last evening while visiting friends in the area and found that out.

Parking lot was maybe 10-20% full, not what I expected. Wife did not want to go inside, so next time maybe.

Same at the NW Expressway store. I actually have had some fun with different answers to their query as I'm walking by.

Some of the best reactions came from "If I told you I'd have to kill you" and "That's classified." :)

Once, while in a bad mood I responded with "None of your business." My wife was mortified, which lightened my mood a bit. :) I kinda felt bad afterward though. After all, they are only doing their job. But leave me alone!

As much as I have griped about the lack of self-checkout or anything like Sam's Scan & Go, on my 2 trips they have been lightning fast in getting me and those in front of me through the line.

In fact, the cashier politely but firmly was pushing people along: "Just leave that in the cart; I've got it. You can put your card in now. Okay, pull your card out -- you're done."

It's always the people screwing around that hold things up, like the lady who waits until everything is scanned and only then starts digging around for her checkbook, then stands there writing it into the ledger and then digs for her keys and sunglasses while the checker has been completely done for awhile. More commonly, it's the person who doesn't even find their charge card until the checker is done. But Costco trains their employees to do all this for them so the line moves. (BTW, QuikTrip does a great job of this. Takes the card from the person, swipes it, tells them to enter the PIN and they quickly gets them on their way.)

1. Salmon with Basil Pesto Butter - very good. 45 minutes in oven and quite tasty.
2. Sungold Kiwis - delicious
3. Kirkland Signature Toilet Paper - I’ll pass on it. Think they may have a higher level which may be OK.
4, Kirkland paper towels - nope...pass again.
5. Kirkland golf balls - these are highly reviewed and i like em

Can you get into Costco without a membership card?

1. Costco checks for cards when you enter the store. Some greeters may let you in to look around, particularly when a store is new. But they may also completely turn you away.

2. You can go to the pharmacy without a card, just tell them when entering.

I've only visited once so far. I grabbed a few snack items that I haven't seen in Sam's. I did notice the Kirkland golf balls and wanted to do a little research before I bought them (not that it matters much with my game anyway) ;). I want to go back and try a few selections from the meat counter.

The checkout was fairly quick - though I still did miss the ultimate convenience of the scan & go app.

We don't have any regular items yet.

However, so far we've bought some heat and eat meals = all were really good.

I also bought a 7' tall solar powered street lamp. Works really really well and stays lit all night!

Going to go back to pick up a couple of gift items. Sam's is still too close to my house for Costco to be a regular stop for general household stuff.

I've found the Android app to be a lot less helpful than the Sam's counterpart. It does not keep me logged in, and it always changes the shipping zip code to some random number that's not even close to my zip code. Hopefully they improve it. I'm still getting used to figuring out the Costco store layout.

OKC's Costco is adding an optical kiosk.

Under a new law passed earlier this year, big-box retailers can start offering products and eye exams as of Nov. 1 in counties over 300K in population (only OK & Tulsa qualify).

The same capabilities will be rolled out into less-populated counties over the next few decades.

Based on my experience in California, they have really good prices.

There were a lot of compromises on both sides.

For example, there will be a gradual rollout and the smallest counties won't have this option until 2042. Yes, 2042.

Cleveland county is very, very close to 300K as well, maybe just a few years to go. Canadian county is also coming up maybe 10 years. Very long time, if ever, for any other counties in Oklahoma.

I could easily see a Costco in Norman and one in W OKC/Yukon and I want to see an urban Costco in the core. That would probably do it for the OKC metro area though, 4 is a good number.

I know they made the decision to eliminate them from their stores in 2013.

I just read they are installing them in 125 of their almost 800 stores, particularly those with a lot of activity.

BTW, I was told this store is one of their top-performing in the the U.S. and that it has exceeded their projections.

Hmm I i was in Costco a couple days ago and saw some new objects all wrapped up in the cashier area. That must be what they were.

I was told by the pharmacy manager that on November 1 there would be an Optical Department, so I assumed those wrapped up things were for it. Wrong. However he also stated that they would have an Optometrist Office there but it would not be inside the building. It would have its own door in the corner of where the carts are kept, in the open area under the roof.

I am one who doesn’t like self checkouts. But there is a difference in how companies deploy them.

1. Company A (think WalMart) installs them to eliminate workers. Yet no price discount. And cashier lines are way long because they only have 2 to 4 staffed lanes out of over 20.

2. Company B (think Crest) installs them as a convenience to those customers who like using them, but not to eliminate workers. They still keep all checkout lines staffed as normal. Can still get fast checkout at cashier lines but have the option of self checkout as a service.

That to me is the difference. It seems to me Costco is only adding them but not deducting normal checkout lanes which I am fine with

Yes, and I would argue not having them was actually costing them business.

The younger generation loves technology and kiosks. Assuming it works right of course. A scan and go app needs to be there next feature they add.

You can tell the difference between the approaches if you go in during the overnight hours. Walmart has all their lanes closed except for one cashier manning the self-checkout area. Crest has the cashier in an actual register checking people out (with the manager helping check people out at the customer service desk as needed).
