Character actor and puppeteer Gus "Cosmo" Allegretti, who voiced such "Captain Kangaroo" characters as Bunny Rabbit, Mr. Moose, Grandfather Clock, and Dancing Bear, has died, the Los Angeles Times reports. I remember all the charactors well.

Sad loss. Wonderful memories of a time when kids' shows were not constructed under the assumption that kids were morons, but just kids. Capt Kangaroo never condescended to children, but played to their joyous, curious spirit, and was never afraid to poke fun at himself most of all. Allegretti also appeared on the show frequently as Dennis the Painter.

Bob Keeshan, Aligretti, Lumpy Branum (Mr. Green Jeans) and those who helped make Capt Kangaroo a reality are a lost kind, sadly.

Funny that they would title the article as Allegretti having "voiced" Bunny Rabbit because I don't remember Bunny Rabbit ever saying anything. :confused:
