There are two more hotels going in on 15th at Meridian. The assessor's site doesn't show any purchases, but it appears that the land owners were hotel developers from the beginning. They don't have signs yet as to what their parent chain is though. One is on the west side of Meridian next to the new Fairfield and the other is on the east side of Meridian next to the new Holiday inn Express.
With as many chains as there are on meridian already, i think we're probably starting to scrape the bottom of the obscure chain bucket for hotels now.....lol

You'd think they would be running out of chains to build there. But I am told by another hotel owner from Norman that the Meridian hotels stay full most of the time and have great occupancy numbers.

Wasn't there word going around at one time that they were going to develop a lot of the unused land on the river and put nice hotels there and fix up the area? I believe I also heard that they were going to do water taxi service to downtown from there. But this was probably at least 5+ years ago that I heard that. Something needs to be done with south Meridian. Some people coming into WRWA only get as far as S. Meridian and that's there impression of our city. And I don't know how places like Biltmore stay in business. People who stay there must feel like they got the old bait and switch pulled on them when they arrive. I'm sure it looks okay on line but the last time I was in that hotel it was a dump.

When I first took the water taxi I started from that location. There was virtually nothing close to it. I have to think it has experienced a big increase in business with all of the new hotels there.

I agree. From airport road to a little past 29th is just a bunch of older buildings and crappy road. That intersection at Newcastle Rd and Meridian is horrible.

I wish they would put turn lanes in on meridian for newcastle. The turning traffic holds things up on meridian. The light gives the same length to each direction as well. That has always seemed really stupid to me since there's about 5 times the traffic on the Meridian side.
My office is in that stretch between 29th and airport rd. There really could be a lot done to spruce up the streetscape. It's not one of the ugliest places in town, but it's far from being nice. Not a great view for a visitor headed up to their hotel.
