BBatesokc 07-18-2013, 09:19 AM The new Neighborhood Market will open at 7:30am on August 14. Location? (or did I miss something obvious) I get its in Norman. But I'm not up-to-date on the specific location. ereid 07-18-2013, 09:25 AM Sorry, they are opening on the west side. 36th and Rock Creek. venture 07-18-2013, 09:29 AM I think we need 73 more grocery stores in that area. :-P ereid 07-18-2013, 09:56 AM Yes but for us living in that area, it will be nice not having to deal with Robinson when we need to pick up just a few items. kevinpate 07-18-2013, 01:33 PM On behalf of those of us who use regularly Robinson and notice when a lot of west siders need to roll on east to pick up a few things, I could not agree more. May the new WNM be well stocked, well staffed, exceptionally clean and competently managed for years to come. Soonerman 07-18-2013, 08:30 PM Speaking of Walmart, Are they suppose to put a new supercenter on the southeast side of town? venture 07-18-2013, 09:38 PM Speaking of Walmart, Are they suppose to put a new supercenter on the southeast side of town? People kept saying they were suppose to build a new one on Hwy 9 between 77 and 24th - but nothing in awhile. Lowes was supposedly going in there too and nothing. There were some repairs made to Perfect Swing after the tornado hit a couple years ago, but it is still boarded up. So who knows what the deal is there. ou48A 07-18-2013, 09:57 PM Yes but for us living in that area, it will be nice not having to deal with Robinson when we need to pick up just a few items. That's exactly right! It will save time and maybe a little money. The next closest decent grocery shopping option is about 2 miles away. This will keep some from far NW Norman in town and out of Moore. I just hope they sell the good gasoline. MWCGuy 07-19-2013, 07:28 AM I am wondering if it will be like the one on Midwest Boulevard in Midwest City. It's a nice store for a Walmart. However, its a no frills store. (No Bakery, Deli, Meat Counter) Its built simple like groceries stores used to be built. I think it its geared toward the quick stop shopper since it is located almost perfectly between the Del City and Midwest City Supercenters. So far, Crest seems to be doing just fine having the Neighborhood Market in between their two stores. The Reno and Douglas stores are just as busy as they have always been. You'll be close enough that you can walk to wal-mart to pick up some groceries now! :Smiley112 ereid 07-19-2013, 08:28 AM We were told by the manager that it's one of the nicest they've ever built. We'll see if that is true soon enough. Either way, it will save me a ton of time having it so close! zachj7 07-20-2013, 01:07 AM Ugh, not another one. Couldn't a different grocery store like Reasors, Food Pyramid, Crest, Sprouts moved in? At least west side has a grocery store now, but it just had to be a Walmart... bchris02 07-20-2013, 01:24 AM Ugh, not another one. Couldn't a different grocery store like Reasors, Food Pyramid, Crest, Sprouts moved in? At least west side has a grocery store now, but it just had to be a Walmart... Yeah there are five Wal-Marts opening in the metro area this year alone. I didn't used to hate Wal-Mart until I moved to OKC. kevinpate 07-20-2013, 02:16 AM Ugh, not another one. FWIW, it will be the only, well, for now, WNM in Norman. Also, just off DT a Sprouts has been open for a spell now. Crest is presently under construction in UNP or UTC or whatever the moniker for Mattress Alley is these days. Bunty 07-22-2013, 11:05 AM Yeah there are five Wal-Marts opening in the metro area this year alone. I didn't used to hate Wal-Mart until I moved to OKC. The best part of having so many Wal-Marts is that if one Wal-Mart is out of stock of what you want, maybe the next nearest Wal-Mart will have it. Soonerman 07-22-2013, 11:09 AM Bunty has a point there. Geographer 07-22-2013, 12:10 PM Speaking of Wal-Mart and grocery stores.... I wish we had a grocery store on the southeast side of town...other than buy for less. venture 07-22-2013, 12:53 PM Speaking of Wal-Mart and grocery stores.... Geographer 07-22-2013, 04:35 PM Are you forgetting Homeland on Alameda and 12th? Yeah Homeland's alright...but I was talking somewhere closer around Constitution/Classen ...around that 7-11 and Crimson Park area....Would do wonders to have a good grocer within walking distance to all of those apartment complexes. venture 07-22-2013, 05:23 PM Yeah Homeland's alright...but I was talking somewhere closer around Constitution/Classen ...around that 7-11 and Crimson Park area....Would do wonders to have a good grocer within walking distance to all of those apartment complexes. Oh yeah I agree. Good place for Krogers to open up a store. ;) |
