Spartan 07-05-2013, 05:16 PM It's the Hart annex
There was a building permit issued about a year ago but just last week they finally had the first inspection, for the foundation.
I suspect they decided to wait until the Hart (immediately west) was finished and open before starting on this project in earnest. It's owned by the same group.
This project is now well under way (photo courtesy of Metro):

Praedura 10-09-2013, 11:56 AM What does SLIVR stand for?

Heh.
I just now noticed the blurb at the top (which I had somehow overlooked) that said this was known as the "sliver" building. Which just begs the next question. Why?
Because it's long and narrow, like a sliver.
It's a term to describe very tall, skinny buildings in New York as well.

UnFrSaKn 11-04-2013, 03:01 PM Me and Bradley took a thorough walk around Film Row after FRunch. We were comparing the actual construction vs. the rendering of this project. This sign-looking thing isn't in the renderings. We weren't sure what it is. There were several things not like the rendering.
Thanks!
It looks like the design has changed slightly since the original renderings, most notable is the overhead extension of the front facade:

New photos... Love the rusty looking facade:

warreng88 01-14-2014, 09:34 AM How close are they to being finished? Is there much more work to be done on the inside?
They should be finished in the next couple of months.
shawnw 01-14-2014, 10:01 AM I was out riding bikes with my kids downtown in the beautiful weather Sunday and it's really quite nice. I'm more impressed with it than I thought I'd be.
Some nearly finished photos from the Butzer Gardner webpage:

HangryHippo 01-30-2014, 11:16 AM What a gorgeous project. I love this little building.
^
I agree.
I think this building is totally badass.
DammitDan 01-30-2014, 11:25 AM I take it this will mostly be office space?
There are three business taking all the ground floor:
Butzer Gardner Architects
Obelisk Engineering
308 Design Collaborative
They also have the 2nd floor (~2,000 square feet) for lease.
Very nice! God help us if Sharon Stone decides to move in. :p

Urbanized 02-20-2014, 11:02 AM The space with the workstations looks really cool driving by on Sheridan at night.
I really love this building. Is the lower space with brick seperate from the upper sliver part?

Yes.
And the upstairs part is for lease.
warreng88 02-21-2014, 11:30 AM i really wish they would do this again somewhere and make to two apartments. That would be an awesome place to live.
I agree. I think Film Row is too focused on offices and needs a little more mixed use.

I think it will get there, it will just take some time. It will be interesting to see how 21c museum Hotel affects this area in making it more a seven days a week than an 8-5.
metro 02-22-2014, 11:44 PM I agree. I think Film Row is too focused on offices and needs a little more mixed use.
There are a couple restaurants, and a few private residences. Once 21C hotel opens up, and the streetcar lines are laid, Film Row will EXPLODE with housing development.
Chip Fudge & Co. are getting ready to renovate the two buildings directly west of the Hart and he's said that he'd love to have a bar there. But of course, someone has to step up and rent the space.
Also, Main Street Arcade will bring retail.
I imagine the new development that infills between all the historical structures will include some housing.
metro 02-23-2014, 05:55 PM Also is Chopt closed? The last few times I've walked to my office, the place looks empty, even at lunch time. It looks locked up and dark. It doesn't surprise me, the food was overpriced and TERRIBLE.
Closed 2/20/14 according to Yelp.
Urbanized 02-23-2014, 06:47 PM Too bad. People seemed nice. That location is still tough for restaurants I think, and I've gotta say - though I only ate there once - the place had a bit of an odd feel to it.
The Social Order Dining Collective is taking the whole top floor of the Slivr Building. Have started to move from The Barn in the Plaza and will be all in by this summer.
Brian Bogert tells me that their space will be pretty cool and that they are making a good investment here.
They operate Jones Assembly, Fuzzy's, Texadelphia and Seven47 in Norman.

Literally, murder! Delicious and delectable murder -- in the culinary sense! ;)
