I don't understand where the escalation in the cost of the convention center has come from. Where are they pulling $1B from? Using the highest of all high estimates?

CM, thanks for posting the whole thing, I didn't know how to do it. And I was surprised. Mick stayed in NYC for two years during his term? Then who was the guy leading the council meetings? Damn him for getting his MBA!

So Ed is calling out the mayor for being pro-Gay? Wow. How will that play with Ed's LGBT supporters?

This will actually turn off a big segment of Ed's supporters, who probably didn't know our Mayor likes NYC. That's a compliment.

Turn out the lights. This race is over.

I think that is right. $250 million out of MAPS3, $200 million for the hotel (his number not heard anywhere else) and another $200 million for phase II (something I was aware of when voting for MAPS3 but people are claiming wasn't out there.) $250+$200+$200=$750 million. Ed math? $1,000,000,000...

Are they mailing this to Republicans? I cannot imagine who they are targeting with this besides Sally Kern types.

It's never a good sign when you end your campaign with negative advertising.

Oh and the Doll House Burlesque Lounge in BT has been open for over two years. Why is it just now coming up?

I was aware of Phase II, but I thought it was more like $50 million.

That was the convention center hotel portion projection. The total possible cost of the new CC was $250-$400 million. Add some inflation, you can see where that $450 million total would come from. But the point is moot anyways. That much money would have to come at a vote of the people either by bond or another MAPS so it is not guaranteed. The convention center to be built can function on its own, just not at the higher ceiling an expanded CC could.

My wife picked us up a Mick sign for the yard and a couple button stickers that say 'I Pick Mick.' Needless to say there is no doubt who we are voting for.I have a sign in my front yard Mick for Mayor and I live in North Edmond :Smiley122

Greater Oklahoma City is a much better place to live as a result of MAPS, MAPSII (for kids), MAPS for HOOPS extension, MAPS III. Let's continue the momentum...

This is designed to suppress conservative turnout. Also, it seems that it's trying to suggest the mayor is gay. About on par for the bile spewing forth from the Shadid campaign.

The flyer says, "He's spent 13 years in office."

Are they counting his council member days? Mick was elected Mayor March 2, 2004.

How about the fact ES condems 'burlesque dollhouses and seedy nightclubs in Bricktown' in his flyer.

Guess he doesn't know the difference between the Red Dog and Hooters or Whiskey Chicks ?

Besides, I thought he was the one who was addicted and enjoyed porn ?

I thought he was the one who was addicted and enjoyed porn ?

Or the one that supported gay rights?

More interesting is that they've been trailing much of this material for a while. Is this the best they can do? Is this it?

Still, this bizarre and desperate tilt to the right is amazing. What's next? Leaflets on windshields after church on Sunday?

How can a candidate claim to be a friend of the LGBT community and then send out flyers attacking their opponent for being a supporter and voting in favor of LGBT equality? I'm confusED.

Over on Facebook Scott Hamilton is saying Shadid leadership specifically forbade distribution of the mailer. However, another poster reports that he lives in the 39th Street enclave, and the mailer he received was identical except that the Gay Resolution/Play bullet item was absent. Sketchy indeed!

Clever use of "rubbed off." So basically this mailer is saying that Mayor Cornett supports gay rights and edgy theatre, but he was secretly visiting gay bathhouses in New York and likes show tunes. Classy effort, Team Shadid.

Weird aspect to this race. Conservatives supporting Ed, progressives for Mick. Whoever is elected, it might seem to the nation that OKC is a red place or a blue place, but it'll be backwards.

Don't worry guys, Ed didn't mean this! Anyways his campaign manager is a gay veteran so you should still vote for him. Also don't worry he will continue to bash Cornett making a half ass apology. I honestly feel sorry for the poor souls who "trusted in Ed."

I personally designed and wrote copy for several of the Gazette Ads and mailers in Shadid's Ward 2 campaign. You cannot convince me that Ed did not proof read and personally authorize that disgusting mailer. He was absolutely obsessive over the Ward 2 art, tight and controlling... I had to beg him for final send off to the printers at the very last extended deadlines. That apology is a farce. This is the work of Ed. He "gay-baiting" the conservative and black communities whilst sending watered down messaging to Progressives and Dems.

His one consistent MO is that he'll throw anybody or any group under the bus, no matter how strong a supporter, if he thinks it will get him more political power.

To accuse Cornett of being a career politician, and displaying all the traits of a politician with three times the tenure of Cornett, is pretty rich.

I am blown away by the deliberate dishonesty and soulless character attacks in this mailer - not to mention the subsequent "response" online. How can anyone be pleased by this kind of public discourse? Who, but those duped by dishonesty or those who are dishonest themselves, can possibly support a person who would act this way? I can honestly say I would never vote for someone stooping to tactics this sleazy - no matter how much his/her political ideology matched mine. OKC should rally to support Mick, if for no other reason than to stop a person who does not deserve to be mayor.

While it certainly appears things have imploded at DREDHQ, we cannot allow complacency or apathy to set in. Keep encouraging people to vote on Tuesday. The weather may be a factor and anything that suppresses turnout helps DRED.

Vote March 4th - leave nothing to chance.

Went to the Oklahoma County Election Board (Lincoln Boulevard) today (28th) to cast my vote. I was impressed with the early turn out of voters. Mark your calendar if you haven't voted. Get to the polls and vote this coming Tuesday; maybe we can save some money by avoiding an April 1, runoff if someone doesn't get the majority.

Oklahoma City's continued progress could be at stake?
