What a shame. Food is really good there. Will Covell Park be doing the same?

This has been coming for a while, unfortunately.

Damn, this is really sad. We absolutely love Guernsey! It’s been a while since we’ve been, unfortunately, but we used to go a decent amount and I’ve never had a bad meal there. Feel like they’re innovators and really changed OKCs dining scene. As more and more new restaurants open, we just continue adding places to our rotation. I guess we need to hit them up a couple more times and grab some chicken lollipops and the Korean cowboy before the end of the month.

Wow, were they really struggling that much?

That's a huge bummer...

The location always seemed odd to me. You really had to know where you were going to get there, but man it was a true gem for our city.

Huge bummer. This was the first restaurant I took my fiance to and we have made sure to go back a couple times a year since. The porkchop is/was very good.

Sad. I really liked the food and experience there. I only went once or twice because it was a bit out of my price range, but I really wish I could've gone more often.

The proprietor still has Chick N Beer and has some new projects coming up.

I believe it is a case of Guernsey just taking too much time away from more profitable ventures.

That's too bad to hear. We used to go a fair amount, but admittedly kind of forgot about it. With all the new restaurants opening up it's kind of hard to make it to all of them. That space was probably a little too big for them too, it was very rare to see it full.

Tried to make a reservation for this weekend but they are no longer on OpenTable :(

I think it probably would have had an easier time in smaller, less-disjointed space. I absolutely love the food there and honestly liked the quirkiness of the building and space, but every time I was there all I saw was overhead.

Since the kitchen is downstairs I wonder if the next tenant might be able to limit their footprint to the area where the bar and sushi bar are currently, expand the use of the great side yard as outdoor dining space, and repurpose the upstairs either as an event room or find a way to subdivide for an office tenant upstairs. It wouldn’t be a big loss because honestly the upstairs was my least favorite part of the space - too bright, weird vibe and deafeningly loud when busy - yet that is where nearly everyone was taken to be seated.

Oh, and yeah, the location is a challenge. That said, it could also be an asset for a smaller, more intimate place. Definitely a bit of a hideaway right in the middle of the city.

Well now looking back at Zefferoni's comment on this thread (http://www.okctalk.com/showthread.php?t=43833).... Do you know if Noodee (https://www.facebook.com/Noodee-135072627151887/) is one of the new concepts they are working on Pete?

I see one photo on their FB and it’s udon. If so, I’m ecstatic about this. Have yet to find a decent bowl of udon in OKC. Hot udon, cold udon, curry udon... mmmm.

Granted, I'm no udon connoisseur, but I've enjoyed the udon I've had at Tokyo...

Covell Park is still open and is pretty much the same menu--not as centrally located, true, but at least you can get the food somewhere!

You know what, I've never tried the udon there. And Tokyo has been my go-to when it comes to sushi. Will definitely have to try their udon now that you bring it up!

Well good to hear they're staying open. But damn, it is about as far north in the metro as you can get, right? I don't see myself driving up there anytime soon, unless we're taking out kids to Mitch Park for something. Well, at least it's there just in case.

That's disappointing. However, I must admit, it fell off our rotation some time ago when they took the Scotch Egg off the menu - My wife's favorite.

Ate there tonight and asked about our server about the future of the building and she said it'll be the same owners, same kitchen and wait staff (for the most part, the GM is leaving), just a different concept (she didn't know what it was 'cos tonight was her last night since she couldn't wait around for them to re-open since she needed continuous health insurance).

My wife loved the scotch egg as well and was pretty disappointed when they removed it from the menu. Fortunately, everything else we’ve had on the menu has been good or excellent.

I’m guessing since a comment I left on FB about Noodee got a love emoji from them. That’s the new concept.

If it’s a specialty udon place, I’ll be their #1 customer.

I've become a big fan of both Noodee and Okie Poke.

At least at lunch, you now order from either menu in the little downstairs area that faces the courtyard.

For Noodee, I really like the Drunken Noodles which are of the thick udob variety in a savory, slightly spicy sauce. I strongly prefer it over pho or other broth-based noodle dishes. And really nice on a cooler day.

And the Cowboy is my favorite of the poke bowls, although all seem pretty darn good and you can choose from dozens of ingredients to customize to your liking. The Cowboy has shrimp with a cream sauce and sriracha with avacado and some other great things, all over rice. It's $10 but really fresh and high quality ingredients.
