View Full Version : President Obama will be in Oklahoma on Sunday
RadicalModerate 05-23-2013, 03:05 PM Although the concept of meeting in a "church" building may inspire an irrational fear in the hearts and minds of some of those who haven't been "there" in so long that they have a subliminal fear of "lightning striking" or "the walls falling down" if they cross the threshold of the building, that doesn't mean that an outdoor observance of this weather catastrophe shouldn't be considered. Even if it might rain.
God Bless You, Mr. Obama.
(Sincerely, for putting aside trivial international political nonsense and Being the Chief Executive Officer of The U.S. at our best in the face of adversity.)
(that was a humble prayer . . . sorry.)

ou48A 05-24-2013, 04:52 PM During times like this it’s the job of a president to show up and help start the healing.
Hopefully the attention that the office brings leads to new donations and more help for tornado victims.
As long as Obama doesn’t bring his politics to Moore, then nobody else should either.
I doubt if he will be political. Some parts of even being the Chief Executive aren't political. You can't look at something like this and not feel sorrow. It's the decent thing to do.

Don't worry bro, it won't be the time and place to call out our state leaders' hypocrisy. Hey, he's got a lot of federal money coming this way. Sure hope this doesn't make us a bunch of socialists like those liberals in the northeast!
soonerguru 05-25-2013, 09:34 AM I really wish I could be there to see the president, but I will be watching from afar -- along with people all over the world.
jerrywall 05-25-2013, 09:52 AM Classy, boomer. Classy.
SoonerBoy18 05-25-2013, 02:30 PM Really? You've got two pages of pretty much overwhelmingly supportive comments about his visit, and "ONE" sort of negative comment. Is your heart made of tissue paper?
Ok I honestly didnt read all the comments because after I read that negative comment, I assumed there was going to be more just like it.
venture 05-26-2013, 11:11 AM Thankfully it has been relatively tame here on any "outrage" of a visiting head of state after a major disaster. Now just looking at KWTV's facebook page...yeesh.

Apparently the wall to wall news coverage wasn't enough for him.

We all know how much he cares, how he is behind us 100% and only wants the best for us. I wish he'd stay home. He can work on a budget, figure out how the IRS targeted people. learn who gave the order not to help our people Benghazi and send more fighter jets to the Muslim Brotherhood.
Instead of wasting time, money, man power and the like, he could read a sweet speech from his teleprompter about how he has the backs of us Okies and how horrible it would be to have the Keystone Pipeline run through the Sooner State.
I have never understood why presidents feel the need to pop up after a disaster Unless a president will roll up his sleeves and grab a shovel or a hammer, there is truly nothing he can do here. Moore and Oklahoma City have more important things to do than play host to a president now. Despite that, I do hope the media decides to stay. They can rent hotel rooms, buy their meals and spend every penny they want here.

kelroy55 05-26-2013, 12:55 PM All of them would be the first to complain if the President didn't come to visit.

Indeed. Looks like an overall good visit and hopefully helps get more aid into the state. At least seeing comments by people on facebook helps to connect to companies to avoid doing any business with. Media coverage of the visit was pretty good, of course I stuck with KOCO. KWTV seemed to be more about their infomercials. Not sure if KFOR did much.
venture 05-26-2013, 02:58 PM Did anyone see Lankford, Coburn, or Inhofe today?

The senators I could understand. Lankford seems unusual considering Shawnee and OKC were impacted as well.
soonerguru 05-26-2013, 06:50 PM Lankford is a tool.
Lankford is a tool.
Standard or metric?

Lankford was at the service at First Baptist, at least. I didn't see the others.
