I want to say there was already a discussion about this months ago on OKC talk, but that the story is identical, so perhaps there's been no progress. I remember reading about this on a story about his new restaurant in San Francisco. It would be great if it happens.

His next restaurant will be another one in San Francisco. He was planning on a Paris location but felt it wasn't the time. As of now, the new restaurant will be Asian, but not Chinese.

The article states that he wants to open in OKC (really bad). That seems promising. What can we do to make this happen?!

Danny and I were roommates in San Francisco when he was in culinary school and off and on through the years. A new San Francisco restaurant is in the works for the immediate future. He wants to reward some of the people who helped him through the years by helping them get their opportunity too. The new place will feature the chef who took over the original Mission Chinese location as Danny was opening the NYC spot. The chef, Jesse, was also a huge mentor to Danny. He's always wanted to do OKC, but wants a methodical expansion. I'm sure it will happen, but if you factor in two years to get things up and running smoothly at the new spot, it could take a while. Alternatively, the new SF spot may not work out much like the abandoned (for now) Paris plans.

Anyone see that Danny Bowien is coming to OKC this Sunday and possibly Monday for a food benefit at the Myriad Gardens restaurant? Open to Public.

He actually doesn't get in until Sunday night and will be cooking Monday. My sister is probably picking him up and he's staying with her most likely. I'll post back here if I get more concrete info on the particulars.

Of course, I meant nothing by it. Things were still in flux when the article came out. Even the organizers were unaware at the time. I'm sure things will be corrected via Facebook and other media.

It's not my place to say, but the other locations are very simple. The original opened and still exists inside another divey Chinese restaurant with a bathroom that isn't in the same building and in one of the grittiest parts of San Francisco. The NYC spot is in a basement level space but somewhat nicer. Mission Burger was inside the deli area of a Vietnamese grocery store in that same gritty area of SF. Even Commonwealth, a sister restaurant of sorts, is upscale but in that same gritty area. A goal being to lower expectations and then exceed them. Neither are expensive by any standard and a portion of proceeds go to charity. Keeping that price point down, donating to charities, and lowering expectations may exceed what that Myriad Gardens can provide. Again, it's not my place to say and never say never but it isn't in keeping with the previous endeavors. If I had to guess, and it's a complete guess, I would say the Plaza or Asian district would be the most likely or somewhere along those lines. In any case, it may be a while.

I just got back from the special event and saw Danny Bowien there. It was very interesting, to say the least. The food was served family style from Chinese takeout boxes. There were some dishes I liked better than others but all of it was very inventive and was well worth the requested donation. My only problem was that I had to use chopsticks to eat with and I'm notoriously bad with those, LOL. I did manage to get enough food to my mouth to get full though.

Good for you for trying it and supporting a good cause. He didn't have all the ingredients he needed nor the time but he did what he thought would be the most approachable. I made the caramel sauce for the ribs so blame me if that didn't work out for you.

The ribs were my 2nd favorite too, but I didn't taste any carmel sauce, but did enjoy the maraschino cherry and the peanuts on it. Really enjoyed the "Eichens" steamed buns

It was a Vietnamese caramel sauce which isn't really like caramel in the most common sense. It's simple sugar syrup that's cooked down to an almost espresso-like color. It's a base for a lot of sauces and stews so it's altered and diluted, in this case it was soy sauce. The end product wouldn't taste like the base product at all. I made four gallons which was a little over 20lbs of cooked down sugar.

Ya that was a little cheesy. The guy stated he would like to open something here so its on his mind. I don't think Steve's tweet, or 100 others are going to do much in getting him to open a restaurant. He sounds pretty busy, he'll open one when its right for him, not because of people tweeting him.

Also of note (hopefully Steve reads this), Steve's tweeting practices have become really annoying. He is putting a period in front of many of his twitter replies making us all see a bunch of tweets that we either don't care about or have no idea what is even being discussed. I don't care to read all his conversations with another individual. I want to continue to follow him for good information but he has to quit blowing up my feed with conversations and random stuff.

Storm chasing practices, ticket scalping ordinances, food venues, transit issues, etc. He is good at covering downtown, however I could care less about reading about his personal opinions and arguments on every issue in this city.

Steve isn't trying to be THE voice, but he is informed, available and asked. That's typical fare on his Friday morning chats. His beat is downtown but he certainly gets a lot of questions on a variety of subjects, he is almost always supportive of people making progress, and he usually has an answer. If there's a comparable resource I'd like to know who he/she is.

It was all very good and sold out very quickly. Chicken Fried Pork Ribs were amazing and a really brilliant surprise.

Earlier in the day, we went to Eischen's for dinner. The folks in Okarche weren't too sure about what to make of Danny. Especially since he had earlier paid a trip to Bass Pro for camouflage shorts, cammo cap, and a US Flag button-up Polo shirt.

I like reading his opinions on everything that goes on. It shows he isn't some robot that only cares about OKC because of downtown. I also find it funny when people argue with him & then try to bash him because he states an opinion that is connected to a hobby of theirs.

True, but I thought I'd offer a little constructive criticism before he loses followers. As I said, I like Steve's downtown news and observations. It's just when he makes his twitter conversations show up in everyone else's feed, especially the conversations we know nothing about. The random tangents don't help either.
I will continue to follow him but I can't say that I will if it continues.

I did unfollow. Tired of sending a reply to him, him retweeting it like your opinion is wrong and super controversial. And then responding to it like you are a villain. And then crying about being beat up. He plays his game of stirring stuff up, then getting emotional and taking his ball and go home crying about being beaten up. Forgive for being harsh but it is the truth.
