Penn Square Mall, virtually all of NWOKC and S. Edmond in the strike zone. Seems like it will go tornadic once it reaches El Reno or Yukon, then head into West OKC.

Yeah I think our Okiesense is in tune and thinking the same thing. This is gonna be bad.

05-31-2013, 09:56 PM
Yeah, the flooding is affecting more people than the tornadoes and its affecting more people than it would have because people left their homes because of fear.

So yeah, good job Morgan and TWC. <sarc>

Tornado threat is basically over. Although these storms moving back in do have supercell structure. But everything looks outflow dominant and these are heavy rain and small hail producers.

I couldn't believe my ears when I heard some of the weathermen tell people in OKC to get in their cars and drive south to escape the storms--only to have the storm turn southward. Getting in your car to outrun the storm is probably #3 on the list of things not to do. I'm sure people were injured because of it and the panic they caused. Unbelievable.

Apparently some of the praise heaped upon them this past week is not deserved.

El Reno has over 5 inches of rain.

North OKC has 3.5 inches of rain.
South OKC has 3.75 inches of rain.

These totals are as of about 10:00pm. And it is still coming down.

Downtown is flooded.

I was very worried about the multiple vortex tornado that formed in El Reno turning into an EF4/5 and bulldozing through the metro area. Thank God it weakened as it entered populated areas.

05-31-2013, 10:08 PM
If this triple point of development does not move, OKC could easily see over half a foot of rain tonight.

Stay home tonight, in OKC.

Did you hear anybody but Mike Morgan say that? I know he did and couldn't believe it as there were cells close together and one was moving to the SE. It was incredibly irresponsible.

Heavy rain moving back through the central and northern Metro. Storms are moving ENE at 45 mph...expect some more hail and a bit of wind - with heavy rain.

Some people just don't respect the problems heavy rainfall can cause in this area.

venture

One thing to point out that even as these move north, the cold front will eventually start to move south and models indicates storms to form along it. I would expect mainly hail/wind threat - if that - with any more storms along and behind the front.

...or any area. There were fatalities every heavy rain in Central Texas, quite a few low water crossings and San Antonio seems to flood in even moderate rain. It is an issue up here in the mountains, the "turn around, don't drown" mantra is used in a lot of places for a reason....a lot of people do stupid stuff.

They will begin working on it immediately once it's safe for crews to do so. They're usually really good about getting power back on as quickly as possible.

He told people to stay off the hiways and only told a few to drive south. Out of the path of a tornado

Except driving south was not out of the path of the tornado or the storms.

Storms continue to be stubborn and lift slowly to the north. The individual cells are actually got E to ESE however.

It appears that the "storm plume" is shifting to the north. Where its initial direction was ESE, it's now moving NE, and that's where the future heavy rain seems to be headed (Edmond, Guthrie).

Anonymous.
05-31-2013, 11:20 PM
Development point is moving north, should pull swath of storms north of OKC with it here in the next half hour.

Cold front moving through late tonight/early morning could bring another round back in.

Flooding at 29th & Walker:

http://pbs.twimg.com/media/BLo6G0SCIAAnJSI.jpg

Luckily we had ou48a to give us this reassurance today.

And voices of reason have said little to noting about flooding as a major threat for OKC today.

Of course everyone in OKC should live on the highest spot to avoid that anyway. Or so I think I heard someone say.
