just saw a huffington post article about tulsa enquiring for the 2024 olympics, and it stated how they only have 14k of the 45k required hotel rooms to host the olympics. It got me thinking about okc. I googled it but couldnt find any information. It would be interesting to look at the increase in the past 10-15 years as well.

I wonder how many of those are rooms most folk wouldn't book for their least favorite relative.

Probably a lot, but every city counts those kind of rooms when giving a room count.

Ha, yeah, I'm thinking half (or perhaps the majority) are hot beds for meth dens and prostitution.

Lodging and tourism seem to be a chicken and the egg sort of thing. We'll never get big events without lodging, and we'll never get new hotels without a substantial increase in tourism.

We've been getting scores of new hotels the past few years...not sure how it correlates with substantial increases in tourism though???

The Cox Convention Center site claims 15,000, but I don't know if that estimate includes Edmond, Norman, etc.:

The center is also just across the street from three downtown hotels with 1,400 of Oklahoma city’s 15,000 hotel rooms.
