REPORT: Oklahoma City Marathon runner in critical condition | News OK (http://newsok.com/report-oklahoma-city-marathon-runner-in-critical-condition/article/3804357)
It's not stated what the problem is. Heart condition?
Would be sad for the event if a participant died.
Praedura 04-28-2013, 10:45 AM And the women's winner is McHale Davis.

Johnb911 08-29-2018, 10:39 AM If there's an updated thread for the marathon (or should be) feel free to move this post.
Just announced on FB live video they are changing the course this year. The finish line has outgrown automobile alley and will now be on Hudson between Devon and BOK. Other highlights include going south of I-40 down to the river and back before heading east on Reno. Also, no more Lake Hefner.
Map for the full is up here: 14874https://okcmarathon.com/race-weekend/maps/
Other race maps coming soon.
shawnw 08-29-2018, 10:55 AM It's only moving to between Devon/BOK for 2019. Will go to Scissortail in 2020 and beyond.

Makes the most sense. I wish they could have worked in the scissortail bridge but I'm sure it's way too narrow to be used in any part of the race
d-usa 08-29-2018, 02:35 PM Skipping Lake Hefner will be interesting, it seems like that section could make or break folks.
amocore 08-29-2018, 03:37 PM That is exciting !
Now, the next step the OKC Marathon needs to do is remove the 5k from the half\full start. It is a mess.
they should have it on Saturday.

That was definitely my least favorite part.

I am fine with same day but needs more time between starts and better markings,
My son ran it this last year and was tracking to be in top five but made a wrong turn following the marathon runners before him that he had caught up with Had to call us to get redirected. Sucked because when I saw the winning time....he normally is about 30 seconds faster than that and instead...he was 8 minutes behind the winner.
benjico 08-30-2018, 09:11 AM I haven't run the full, but as a spectator I always empathized with runners during that long stretch on Britton to get to Hefner - glad that is being reduced!!
Now in an ideal world, I would cut out that Britton portion altogether and keep going west on Wilshire. To pick up the miles (and reduce the time of that longggggggg stretch on Classen), I'd turn west on 22nd at Classen to Carey Place and then loop back to Classen through the Plaza District. Add a few more blocks in Heritage Hills/Mesta if needed.
CCOKC 08-30-2018, 06:56 PM My husband and I were course marshals at the turnaround at Lake Hefner a few years back. I was even with the wind sock which most of the time was perpendicular to the ground. I heard the curse word that starts with S hundreds of times as the runners turned south and headed into the wind.
