Does anyone know who is replacing Carlito's on Penn and Memorial? I've heard it's a restaurant called Ole', but can't confirm. The Carlito's guys were the same as the ones that own Las Fajitas in Moore. They did a great job on the remodel and the food was good. I know he had a hard time staffing and didn't have the traffic he wanted. I'm surprised they closed so soon.

I know a few people who became violently sick after eating there. That is why I never went there.

IMO, the atmosphere at Carlito's wasn't quite right. It always seemed like eating Mexican food at Harrigan's. That said, it was nice to not have to drive all the way to Las Fajitas when I was craving Mexican food after work.

I thought it was a super fancy atmosphere for a mexican restaurant. The salsa there tasted like it had apples in it.

^ You mean the 'decor'? B/c while they spared no expense inside Carlitos, there was never any atmosphere when I was there....I sad reason I never came back. And likely a reason they're closing.

Yeah, decor is a better word for it.

I think I put food over atmosphere, though.

me too. but for me the food was just okay at that time. don't get me wrong, i was for sure given a generous portion. but the whole experience was just 'meh'. :(

Dangit!!!!!!!!!!!

This was my all-time favorite mexican place to eat. They had the best table-side guacamole ever. We went there all the time for that.

We pulled in Monday and there was a sign on the door that said "closed for business". We looked inside, and the tv's were gone as well as pictures, etc from the inside.

I sure hope they move somewhere else.

Bummer, yes their guacamole was the best in OKC by far

Shocker. Another restaurant dead and buried on Memorial, OKC's restaurant graveyard.

That is the 2nd restaurant in recent history to close in that building. Carrabbas formerly occupied that space, and they closed that location. Now its Ole. I wonder what goes in there next.

I miss Carrabbas. Loved their salads and the food was pretty good too.

It's too bad, but their food wasn't nearly as good these days as it was when it was originally over on May. I had gone in a few times when they were at Penn and Memorial, and the place was usually fairly empty. I just don't think many people knew about it.

Olé apparently couldn't "make it" over there on Memorial next to Penn . . .
Then, they couldn't make it further West on Memorial.

Personally, I think it was on account of putting WAY, WAY too much cilantro ("see-LAHN-trrro"--per every show on the Food Network) in their (otherwise fabulous) Shrimp Cocktail.

On the other hand, perhaps Soonerguru has it pegged . . .

I can only hope "Twin Peaks" suffers the same, albeit quicker, demise.

Ole was good but I'm more excited for the Genghis Grill that will be going in their place... New building and everything.

I hope your still excited after they open, I've tried the Moore location twice and was very disapointed both times. (service and food quality)

Glad to hear they are getting something new in there. I've never been there, but glancing at the menu makes me hungry. It seems a little like a "Lotsa Noodles" type of place though. I'll have to check it out when they open.

I like it and if you don't like the food you are to blame (unless you order off the menu). Basically you go through a line of raw meats, veggies, sauces, etc. Put it all in a bowl and they cook it up for you.

Does anybody know what happened here?

They had the absolute best table side quacaomle I"ve ever had in my life. We went here at least twice a month. They had good food. Very disappointed they're gone.

Agreed about the guac, however I never visited them after they moved locations unfortunately. Sorry to hear they are gone. My parents are good friends with the owners, I will ask if they can find out.

They've been gone for at least a year, right? Maybe two?

Yea, its been at least a year now.

I was just wondering if maybe they moved somewhere else, or what happened?

I may be mistaken, but aren't they open West of May now? Or is that the one you folks are talking about. They opened West of Penn and then moved West but still on Memorial and the last time I went by there it looked like they were open. I wasn't in the restaurant, so I really don't know.
