gopokes88 08-16-2019, 01:49 PM Baker Hughes GE is a publicly traded subsidury of GE. So it's still GE.
https://www.chron.com/business/energy/article/Fraud-Expert-GE-used-Baker-Hughes-as-a-vehicle-14308499.php
“Baker Hughes remains independent and continues to be traded under its own stock ticker symbol, BHGE.”
GE also sold all of its shares.
https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/BHGE/holders?p=BHGE
They are separate companies.

Yeah, but....
One area of Markopolos’ case focuses on GE’s long-term care insurance unit, for which the company had to boost reserves by $15 billion last year. By examining the filings of GE’s counterparties in this business, he alleges that GE is hiding massive losses that will only increase as policyholders grow older. He claims that GE has filed false statements to regulators on the unit. Separately, he goes on to find issues with GE’s accounting on its oil and gas business Baker Hughes.

I know they are traded separately, that's what I posted, but also, read the article I linked to:
A well-known fraud expert claims that General Electric hid $38 billion dollars in losses and accused the industrial giant of using the financial results of its subsidiary, Houston oilfield service company Baker Hughes
GE didn't sell all it's shares in Baker Hughes GE, they lowered their controlling interest from 62.5% to 50.4% but they retained their controlling interest.
The title of the page on Yahoo you linked too is "Baker Hughes, a GE company (BHGE)"
jn1780 08-16-2019, 03:09 PM It hasn't been proven if GE allegations are true or not. The CEO did invest a bunch of money into the stock after this report came out. Maybe he is trying to build confidence or maybe he knows the report is false?
The separation happen back in November. It seems the alleged fraud came from GE side of the house and not Baker Hughes management.
Edit: I was wrong, GE still does have a controlling stake. https://seekingalpha.com/article/4275003-baker-hughes-general-electric-overhang-risky-ignore
Regardless if allegations are true, GE is having issues and will probably need to sale Baker Hughes sooner rather than later.

GE no longer controlling interest
and Baker Hughes rebranded.
No idea what it means for the BH energy research center, but being an "energy technology company" at least sounds good. Tech needs R&D and they have a world class facility for that purpose.

Great for BH research center long term. I actually think the "GE logo" on the building was starting to become a liability in the long run based on how GE has been doing past couple of years. I actually see a bankruptcy on the horizon for them if and when we head into another recession.
Martin 12-12-2019, 02:36 PM didn't get a pic, but noticed that baker hughes signage is now up... pretty sure that it still said ge just last week.

Yep, I saw them putting in up a couple of days ago.

And a small sign out front on NE 10th identifies it as Baker Hughes. Now, what to do about the embossed GE meatball logo on the front of their parking garage?
HOT ROD 12-14-2019, 12:09 AM Keep it.

It shouldn't take a rocket scientist... or err... a petroleum scientist...
Anonymous. 12-16-2019, 10:30 AM Yikes lol. The logo does look nice at least...

Not sure if this will effect the research facility or not. Maybe someone around here does
HangryHippo 07-28-2020, 08:42 AM The Oklahoman reporting that this facility has been donated to Oklahoma State University.

shawnw 07-28-2020, 09:20 AM So being owned by a public facility means maybe there will be some degree of public access to it at some point?
jn1780 07-28-2020, 09:35 AM I guess Baker Hughes is trying to cut costs by sharing their building with OSU.
jdizzle 07-28-2020, 10:16 AM So being owned by a public facility means maybe there will be some degree of public access to it at some point?
Probably only for students and faculty, would be my guess. College buildings are not always open to the general public.
gopokes88 07-28-2020, 12:14 PM that's a cool opportunity for OSU
dcsooner 07-29-2020, 05:39 AM I guess Baker Hughes is trying to cut costs by sharing their building with OSU.
Could portend closure or downsize in the future. Hope not
HOT ROD 07-29-2020, 03:09 PM unfortunately, that's what I was thinking as well dcsooner when I saw the headline. ...
Let's hope it's a collaboration and not a write-off.
onthestrip 07-29-2020, 05:12 PM Wonder what they final tab was that we paid to GE/Baker Hughes in incentives, only to see that 4 years later there are no private sector jobs and the building looks like it will be taken off the property tax rolls. Hope some good comes of it with OSU.
Edmond Hausfrau 07-29-2020, 05:41 PM Makes for a nice little education triangle. OSSM, OUHSC, plus I think OU MBA offices are tucked in that area, now with OSU can hope that it raises the profile for higher education in the state and leads to more 4 year college grads, since we lag in this area.
