I've not really had much problem with Mike's typical hysteria but the whole armored car rooted to the ground is frickin' bizarre. I think even Mike was embarrassed. Maybe. I switched it over to see David Payne but Gary is sort of bothering me. Is he dying his hair? I may have to go to 5 or something by default.

Large hail moving into the Northwest Metro area now with that warned cells out there. Still hard to say on the others. Cold front is moving about 5 mph to the SE...which puts it at Norman around 9PM. So depends on how the storms move. The main supercell to the SW is moving NE at 25 mph...which puts it in here at 8PM. So its going to be a race it seems. Tornado conditions get better here in the next hourish.

Oh, please, Timmer has a doctorate in meteorology. Getting emotional over weather extremes happening around you is only human. More power to him for wanting to try to get to and study a tornado as close as possible. So I'm going to keep it on KFOR most of the time.

I've been flipping around and decided to stay on 5 about 20 minutes ago. He's doing an excellent job, just the right intensity, information, pacing for me. Like you I miss Rick Mitchell. But Lane is proving his worth.

Looks like OKC proper could be okay tornado wise unless the front stalls and wiggles back to the north.

The front was indeed reinforced and pushed south by early convection that moved north across the boundary. I would say at this point the tornado threat for points north of the OK/Cleveland County line is near zero.

Damon Lane agrees and seems to think the dropping of the front is decreasing our tornado chances, but increasing our hail probability.

I'll still take the rain without the hail.

Front right now is from Amber to West Moore to Choctaw to Wellston.

Just got a bolt of thunder and it went dark, outside. One of my hummingbirds is under the patio, freaked out and buzzing the back door.

ETA: And five minutes later, we have rain and more thunder.

Tennis balls north of Elgin. This storm is moving NE along I-44. Hail core is 38 miles away from downtown Norman right now. Its moving NE @ 25ish right now. Rotation is about 5 miles behind that.

Front is about 8 miles away, so looks like Norman would just dodge the tornado threat but be in a very large hail threat - as well as points North of the front.
