View Full Version : H&8th opening night SoonerDave 10-20-2015, 11:47 AM Hate to see it end. Was looking forward to visiting, but oh, well :( David 10-20-2015, 01:50 PM I'll be sure to attend on the 30th. gopokes88 10-20-2015, 02:52 PM Man I can't help but be disappointed. Something I looked forward to all summer, especially this year with the Thunder missing the playoffs. There are only a few events that draw the entire city and this was one. Something will take its place though, chalk it up to growing pains. Urbanized 10-20-2015, 03:55 PM It's the best thing for Midtown. As good as it was for introducing new people to the area, it was becoming a significant burden on the surrounding neighborhood. A victim of its own considerable success. Teo9969 10-20-2015, 11:15 PM It is still going to happen annually, and I'm sure it will be even better as an annual event than a monthly event. ljbab728 10-20-2015, 11:50 PM And food trucks will still exist and people will still be allowed to go to Midtown on a Friday night. :) Urbanized 10-21-2015, 07:08 AM I think you will start to see food trucks more often the rest of the month, in other parts of downtown. A number of the trucks were a little bit spoiled by getting wiped out (in a good way) once a month, and didn't work quite as hard the rest of the time. Hoping this will cause some of them to spend a few more lunchtimes and evenings downtown and elsewhere, like trucks do in just about every other city. Urbanized 10-21-2015, 07:10 AM And food trucks will still exist and people will still be allowed to go to Midtown on a Friday night. :) Yeah, and now they will have a place to park, and will be able to frequent the OTHER places in Midtown. OKCretro 10-21-2015, 10:13 PM is Eats on 8th going to be still every month? or are they going once a year now as well? ljbab728 10-21-2015, 10:47 PM is Eats on 8th going to be still every month? or are they going once a year now as well? Their Facebook page just mentions that Oct. 30th will be the last one for the year. It doesn't say anything at all about future events. https://www.facebook.com/Eats-on-8th-Harvey-484846148346074/ Anonymous. 10-30-2015, 02:04 PM Cancelled final H&8th due to rain... Does anyone know who to contact to be their weather person? This is the second time they have cancelled when really they should not have. The rain will easily be moved out by this evening. Oh well, it will still be cold. Just means more people in the other districts tonight, hope to see lots of cool costumes out there! OKCretro 10-30-2015, 04:18 PM Hipsters dont like rain but hipsters due like the cold. They can wear their thrift store sweaters. Jersey Boss 10-30-2015, 05:05 PM After 5 and it is still raining in Norman. I believe the right call was made here. kevinpate 10-30-2015, 05:08 PM After 5 and it is still raining in Norman. I believe the right call was made here. I think rain is to continue into the night, possibly the am, but clear out in time for wee ones to be lions, tigers and bears and older guys to be lion in clubs to lasses who be nearly bare. OKCisOK4me 10-30-2015, 05:26 PM Last wave is moving through the metro now... BBatesokc 10-30-2015, 05:43 PM I'm still at work now - two blocks from where H&8th is held. Looking out the window Its raining and miserable out. IMO it was a good call canceling both events. |
