The Mule is open until midnight Monday through Wednesday and 2am Thrusday through Saturday. Urban Wineworks is open until 10pm Wednesday and Thursday, midnight on Friday and Saturday and 8pm on Sunday. Saints is open until 2am every day of the week. Empire Slice House is open until 2am every day. Pie Junkie is open until 7pm Tuesday through Thursday and on Sundays in the summer and 9pm on Friday and Saturday. At least that is what is advertised on their respective websites. I am sure they close earlier if there isn't much of a crowd. When Roxy's and Oak and Ore open, I see them staying open until midnight at least as well. Has the Plaza district done a pub crawl yet? I would think that would be a huge draw.

Not to hijack this thread, but Urban Wineworks is actually closed currently for remodeling. They have not announced a new open date in the Fall.

Pie junkies hous seem to change at a whim. I hardly even plan to go there anymore because everytime I do its closed. they really need expanded hours. I do hope Chiltepes kitchen is open late!. but I still think a 24 hours cool Breakfast spot would do great in the plaza. I would take either A Magnolias ( I know I mentioned it before but I love it) and my favorite 24 hours spot in Dallas Cafe Brazil. either one.. if I had the money i'd do my best to make it happen.

I agree. I have talked to my wife a lot about a breakfast place opening in the area and she agrees it would do well not just because of the people who work in the area but the people who live in the area. Of course, their main competition would be the Jimmy's Egg a mile west. Not sure if that is taken in to account when deciding on it.

True that would be main competition. however Jimmy's egg doesn't have late night hours. 24 hour spot would kill in my opinion. when the bars close in Plaza I would think it would be very busy. especially if it was a quality spot with great food and coffee

Agreed. Hopefully we can see something like this can open whenever the Plaza Discount store decides it doesn't want to pay Steve Mason's higher rates any more.

My husband and I had dinner there on Tuesday. I had one of the vegetarian dishes they offer. It was quite good and I thought the service was good as well. It was definitely different than anything I have ever had. It is hard for me to believe this is the same building that housed the convenience store before the renovation. I wish them every success.

We ate there on Friday night during Live on the Plaza. It was rather packed but they were able to get us seated in about 10 minutes.

The food was fantastic and the service was great! Try the Papusas!

Now that they've been open for a while, how is their business? Still strong?

Has it become a hangout place or just more of a restaurant?

Just a restaurant.

Hangouts are still the big three (Saints, Empire, and Mule).

We finally made it there Saturday at about 2 PM, rainy blah day, was about 1/4 full, stayed kind of that full while we were there with folks coming and going, which was impressive given the time and weather. I had the pupusas (wonderful, but horribly filling), wife wanted the Pepian De Res, but they were out of beef, so she settled for the Pepian De Pollo (loved it, but the Russian salad was a bit weird). Lots of complementary set-up items, all great, good mojitos and a tiramisu shot, great service, all around impressed, definitely going back!

I finally made it with my friend from London and we really enjoyed lunch. It wasn't very crowded though, are they doing OK? We were there late, almost two so maybe it was just late for most people. We will definitely be going back.

It was pretty busy before a Thunder game about a month ago in the evening. Seemed to be doing pretty well that night anyway. Hopefully they will be able to do well and hold down that end of the Plaza.

Went a few months back. It's a solid restaurant with good food and service. I regard it more as a reliable neighborhood spot rather than a destination. Great place but not spectacular enough to go out of my way. Hopefully the local population is enough to keep them going strong.

Finally got a chance to try this place last weekend and really liked the food.

It was early on Saturday night and busy, but there was no wait.

Loved the spicy salsa they serve along with very bland queso; the chips were excellent, freshly made and nice and crisp without being greasy.

I ordered the house margarita and it was not very good. Couldn't taste any tequila and whatever mix they used was too sweet.

I had the mixed pupusas (pork, beans and cheese) and LOVED them. I shouldn't have eaten all of them but there were just too darn good. The tortillas were fluffy and the fillings were so tasty. I also really liked the cabbage and carrots on the side. The salsa that came with them (for dipping I guess) was thin and flavorless, so I just went back to the salsa served with the chips.

Sooo good. Really impressed, just will skip the margarita next time.

And the service was very fast and friendly and the food came out quickly.

I know there are other good things on the menu to try but I am going to have a very hard time not always ordering the pupusas.

Looks like they shrunk their menu a tad, and maybe, i don't know, raised some prices. # MenuCosts They used to run a lunch special advert in the Gazette... they used to have more seafood options, nonetheless the papusas are still available and a reason to check them out.

Only been a few times, but no queso dip this time, less on the plates like missing rice/beans. I like the space, if it doesnt work i bet another operator can make the place work, especially with the patio they have.

I'm averse to harshing anyone's buzz, but I find the food leaves much to be desired. Love the atmosphere and wish it were better, but it's not a place in our rotation. I've tried multiple menu items and I cannot connect with this place. For Guatemalan, I'm sticking with Cafe Antiqua and Cafe Kacao. I wanted to like this place, and gave it several tries, but the food is just not that good.

However, before the reno when this was still a blue-collar place with three or four lunch specials, I liked it the two or three times I tried it. Sad to say the upgraded establishment hasn't lived up to the original.

Dave Cathey reported that Chiltepe's Latin Grill is now Chiltepe's Taco Joint and the Guatemalen options on the menu have gone away.... I guess that just leaves Cafe Antigua as our only Guatemalen option now?

Restaurant sibilia at 3202 nw 23rd has really, seriously, make your head roll back, amazing pupusas. I've never seen another white person in there, it's kind of a secret, not even a google map pin. The kitchen is open and clean. It sees dinner rush really early as its base is very blue collar. I believe it shuts at 8pm. There's a language barrier. They're salvadorian so my Mexican Spanglish doesn't pass. But they're really sweet about it. Just point, pay, and enjoy.

From Dave Cathey today...

Chiltepe's Latin Grill is now Chiltepe's Taco Joint. I can only assume the authentic Guatemalan cuisine wasn't resonating with diners, which is a shame. The food was unique and terrific. The new menu is similar to other city offerings. That said, other places aren't located in the heart of the Plaza District, outfitted with a full bar and some of the best patio seating in the city.

That's unforntunate. We only went there once and the only thing that blew us away was the pupusas. I was planning to come back strictly for that alone. Also, I have had the pupusas at Taco Sibilia on 23rd, and I dont remember them being anything special. Their tacos didn't impress me either; I remember thinking Hugo's was much better. Only been there a couple of times though. So, where else can we get pupusas in OKC? This talk is getting me hungry.

I may be in the minority here, but I actually really like the changes they've made. I went there once during the summer for lunch and wasn't impressed with the food or the service. When they announced the new concept change, I decided to give them another try. I live in Crestwood and work at the Capitol, so having a place to go for lunch besides the usual Plaza District spots is ideal as well as a place to go for south of the border takeout after work.

So, my original plan was to go to Empire for lunch. The wait would've been 20 minutes so I figured now was as good a time to give Chiltepe's another go. First off, at least for lunch anyway, you now order and pay up front before taking a seat (like GoGo Sushi). Before, it was a typical sit and order situation. The new way is MUCH better for lunch patrons who are on a tight schedule. As opposed to Empire, there was no wait. I ordered, had my food in minutes and was out of there in timely fashion. The prices were fair and the food was good, nothing amazing, but solid tex-mex fare. I had a taco/enchilada combo plate but the menu still has their more popular Guatemalan dishes.

I'm excited to have this place back in my lunch rotation and now I'm curious to try their happy hour and dinner takeout. I don't think it's quite worth driving in from the other side of town, but if you live and/or work in the area, it's a solid choice especially for lunch.

I walked by here a few days ago around lunch time and didn't see any activity and also saw a realtor sign in the front. I assume it has closed? Seemed like such a good addition to the neighborhood. Or maybe they own the building and can sell it for a mint?
