I find it silly to get angry about the weather. It's going to do what it wants regardless of what the models predict. It isn't an exact science; there are too many variables for it to be. Freaking out about it and running to the store to buy a bunch of milk and eggs (why?) or screaming in rage at the local weathermen (again, why? And why even bother watching them if you hate them so much?) does nothing but waste your energy and frustrate you. Put your energy in to preparing your home as you need to, and go about your business. I think I've said this before, and I'll say it again: The Dallas ABC affiliate meteorologist back in the early 90s said it best (paraphrased), If you try to predict winter weather in this part of the world anything more than 2 hours out, you're going to make yourself look like an idiot. Thankful for the rain, we needed it. Anonymous. 02-25-2013, 05:53 PM 50/50 snow/rain here in N OKC. Just got back from work. PennyQuilts 02-25-2013, 06:00 PM That dry slot over the city looks like it has just about gone. I'm glad this has held off, personally. It is fun to have a big storm and I hope we still get some excitement, but jamming up people trying to get home is not something to hope for. I'm with everyone else - thrilled to have the moisture, so far. We've gotten about an inch. Keep it coming! Haven't seen a single flake. This snowmaggedon that the weather people throw at us from time to time is criminal. People filling tanks full with gas, buying everything in sight at grocery stores, buying shovels, salt, etc. Basically scaring the crap out of people, especially the elderly. Every damn time the fear mongers do this. Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain. OKC, you've been hosed again. PennyQuilts 02-25-2013, 06:08 PM Never hurts to have a full tank of gas and what grownup doesn't have a shovel???? Personally, I don't know any elderly person worried about this. Like my boy Venture said, it's better to wait till this thing is over with before we start calling out the weather folks, although the short amount of patience with them is understandable considering their history of getting worked up & sending everyone into an apocalyptic sort of frenzy. I can't explain it on national talk forum, but you gotta trus me on dis. venture 02-25-2013, 06:39 PM SW OK main snow band that was sitting from Chickasha to Duncan is weakening pretty fast now. Still a decent amount of snow up in NW OK, but mostly light to moderate snow. Central sections still has a good amount of moisture being flung back over up, with the heaviest over Cleveland County right now. To me right now it seems wrap around is really getting choked by more dry air being pulled in and the storm system moving a bit faster to the ENE. Could still see some spurts of heavy snow here and then, but I wouldn't be shocked if one area of the Metro area has 6 inches and another has absolutely nothing. Pretty much what has been advertised for the last few days with the very tight gradient. This can always change, but for a storm was that taking its sweet time to move all day finally decided to pick up speed once the cold air was able to spread in. At the very least, there are some really happy snow lovers in Woodward and the precip. we had put a huge dent in the drought. I'm pretty sure these "hacks" as they have been called, aren't very happy about this either. I could tell that Michael Armstrong was getting excited over this storm by his FB status updates and I don't think he was sitting behind his computer going bwahahahahaha I'm going to tell these people we're having a blizzard when they knew nothing was going to happen. We'll get a blizzard eventually. The 2009 blizzard was not normal for this area and I don't think we had blizzard like that here since the 90's. Correct me if I wrong on that, though. :) . . It was holding on strong all day and started to show hope it would hold on. However, as these storms love to do once the low starts moving the western edge (especially down here) loves to fall apart very fast. Instead of a gradual west to East movement. I wouldn't be shocked if this band firming up from Chandler to Pink to Slaughterville becomes the new dominant precip band for the next couple of hours or so.
