So far. Doesn't mean it didn't happen. If it's below 2.5, it won't show up on apps. Plutonic Panda 11-22-2013, 12:28 AM Maybe it just hasn't updated. Do you know how it generally takes for the USGS to update? OKCisOK4me 11-22-2013, 12:36 AM The app that I have on my phone shows new data within 30 minutes of the event... venture 11-22-2013, 01:04 AM Nothing on the seismograms. If anything it was probably the wind. tomokc 11-22-2013, 09:01 AM Stillwater area just received a small one: 3.7 registered at 8:34 a.m., 10km NE of Stillwater at a 5.0km depth. SoonerDave 11-26-2013, 08:09 AM Anyone record or note anything in the S OK County/N Cleveland County area around 1:30 AM last night (early AM 26 Nov?) I didn't feel anything myself, but an acquaintance says they were rocked awake in the middle of the night by what they thought surely was an earthquake. Fricking ESPN! That it, Kirk Herbstreit is going to have to be officially banned from commentating on OSU games SoonerDave 11-29-2013, 09:42 AM Okay, I think I'm getting earthquake paranoid. Sitting over here near the Crest at SW 104th and May, I thought sure I heard a strange rumble/thunderclap - didn't see any large trucks anywhere and it didn't seem to come from the direction of the airport. Anyone in that area hear anything like this in the 9:35-9:40AM timeframe (Friday AM)? Haven't checked any USGS data yet. Bunty 11-30-2013, 01:23 PM UPDATE: Oklahoma earthquakes shaking up ESPN?s Kirk Herbstreit | KFOR.com (http://kfor.com/2013/11/22/u-s-geological-survey-confirms-3-7-earthquake-felt-northeast-of-stillwater/) It's not fracking that causes earthquakes -- it fricking. Fricking ESPN! But fracking does cause earthquakes, or at least the waste water associated with it. How much worse do the earthquakes have to get before something is done? How much worse do the earthquakes have to get before something is done? Disposal of Marcellus Shale fracking waste caused earthquakes in Ohio (http://phys.org/news/2013-08-disposal-marcellus-shale-fracking-earthquakes.html) Hmmm...wish that article went into more depth about how the author drew his (her?) conclusions. It said said the tremors around Youngstown ended "shortly after" the well was closed - were there quakes after they ceased pumping operations? And there were "correlations' between dates and temporary cessations - again, any time I see "correlations" used to prove a point, I get an itchy twitch on the back of my neck. And the fact that there was an existing fault is no trivial matter. Just saying I wish they'd go into more depth about their absolute conclusion that the waste caused the earthquakes. mugofbeer 12-01-2013, 12:22 AM Where is this going on in NE Oklahoma County or under Edmond? I don't see a connection in this case. RadicalModerate 12-01-2013, 12:24 AM I thought I felt a fracking earthquake last night. Or, perhaps, the night before. Then I decided that I might be wrong about that. Yet I'm fairly sure it was an earthquake anyway. Even if it wasn't. Achilleslastand 12-07-2013, 12:14 PM Felt a decent shake here in SW OKC about three mins ago. What I felt up here in NW OKC was more then decent. ctchandler 12-07-2013, 12:15 PM If that was less than 3.8, then I must be right on top of the epicenter. Lots of things fell off the wall, shelves, and I may have some structural damage. C. T. Cocaine 12-07-2013, 12:15 PM Yeah I'm downtown and that was kinda big for okie's at least. Dang - Ive not felt such a long quake before. Seemed like about 10 or more seconds and as I sat shaking on the couch I could see everything moving. We live in Paseo, not far from you. OGS or USGS? yukong 12-07-2013, 12:37 PM Out in Surrey Hills, it felt like a wave going through the house. You could actually hear and feel the movement from one end of the house to the other. It seemed to last for quite a while. And after it stopped here, I could hear it moving away from us. Quite an experience. I remember feeling the 5.0 a few years ago, but it was more just a loud boom and overall shaking for a second or two. This was more a wave action. Two very different experiences. |
