Do they plan to only serve dinner til 9pm or will they go a little later? Is it the kind of establishment that patrons would hang out at to watch a Thunder game? Or is it more upscale, "we're better than that"?

I don't know I'f " upscale" is the right description as much as "sophisticated". It isn't a sports bar atmosphere. Thank goodness for a nice place without tvs and beer taps.

No TV's in Kitchen no. 324.

And I hope you're not assuming that's what I was asking. Seems like a pretty white wall place to me judging by all the pics. If "sophisticated" and/or "my nose is stuck up in the air" is more this type of place then I won't expect there to be TV's in it. Just don't think the place will do very well on home game nights, but hey, that's only 41 nights of the year, so it shouldn't kill the night vibe...

If the dinner menu and service are only half as well presented as 324 does breakfast, they will do more than fine at dinner.
Still in a very Phil Robertson mood about 324 opening for dinner next month.

I don't get the idea that a restaurant without TV's is trying to say "we're better than that."

For one, most restaurants don't have TV's.

I get bars/pubs having TV's, but I never understood why a restaurant would even want TV's.

As for game nights...... I bet they do very well. I know MANY season ticket holders and box guests that would enjoy 324 over, say, Buffalo Wild Wings any day before taking in a Thunder game.

Not just about Kitchen 324 but speaks well about their pioneering.

http://www.oklahoman.com/article/3895243?embargo=1

When Kitchen No. 324 opened in the ground floor of the Braniff Building at 324 N Robinson a year ago, Paul did the unthinkable by staying open for brunch on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Up to then, most restaurants in the central business district limited their operations to lunch on weekdays, and just a few dared to open for breakfast. Only hotel restaurants bothered to stay open on weekends.

But Kitchen No. 324 drew lines the very first weekend — and those lines have continued ever since.

Paul, meanwhile, is looking to add dinner service starting Nov. 17. It will join the Ice House, which recently opened in the Myriad Gardens, and Museum Cafe at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art in offering dinner service in the Central Business District without being attached to a hotel.

With the new hours, Kitchen No. 324 will serve dinner 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, and 5 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Coffee and pastries will be served throughout the day, and the restaurant will maintain its 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. schedule on Sundays and Mondays.

One year has passed since Paul Sorrentino, Chris Kana, Jimmy Mays and Stephanie Morrical opened Cafe 7 on the ground floor of First National Tower at 120 N Robinson. The group already owned a Starbucks franchise at their restaurant in downtown Tulsa and could have easily opened for breakfast at First National.
Now that Cafe 7 is offering a full breakfast menu, Sorrentino is no longer willing to swear off eventually adding dinner service — or being open on weekends.

Steve forgot about Vast, Thai Kitchen (327 Dean A McGee), Park Harvey Sushi, and the Library Bar & Grill (Robinson Renaissance).

In addition, Mahogany will be coming to the Century Center soon. And in all fairness, Flint is hardly a hotel restaurant.

The CBD dining scene has come a long way in just the last year.

Agree with you that a few existing options were left off, but Cafe 7 will be THE place once they choose to open for dinner. So many options, reasonable prices, and family friendly (my kids love it). I'm looking forward to 324 as a non-weekend option, but Cafe 7 is what I long for in this category at the moment.

Agree about Cafe 7... I've only eaten at the one near QS but really liked the concept and food.

Another thing, though. Red is only a couple of blocks from Kitchen and is ONLY open for dinner, and has been doing very well for a couple of years now.

Red isn't technically in the CBD (neither is the article-mentioned Museum Cafe) but the idea there have been no dinner options in the heart of downtown is misguided. There have been a half-dozen options for a while now and it's hardly uncharted territory.

It will be "the" place for people looking to go to that type of place. I really like Cafe7 and my wife goes there so much they know her by name. BUT, when I'm considering my dinning options, Cafe7 and 324 would rarely ever be on the same list at the same time depending on my dinning mood.

To me the 'so many options' and atmosphere reminds me too much of Chilis, Applebees or Zio's.

I like the food, I just don't think Cafe7 and 324 are the same 'type' of restaurant so they won't be often fighting for the same crowd of patrons. But, that may just be me.

To go along with this comment, I never understood why a restaurant needs to have a TV going with the sound turned down and music playing. I remember being in a restaurant with music videos showing on the TV and a different song playing on the speakers. I go to restaurants to eat, not watch TV unless I go somewhere to watch a game.

Not intentionally...fresh oysters have become a staple on menus across the country. We are featuring east coast oysters for the next few weeks.

Tried brunch for the first time - it was outstanding. If you are hesitant about going because of the construction, don't be. There was more than enough parking on the street on Sunday morning. We did a bit of a "tasting menu" and ordered way more than we could eat, and it was all great. If I had one suggestion, it would be for a Bloody Mary bar. I could see top shelf bloodies being a huge hit (as long as you are there after 10:00am…).

Separate and apart from the food, but equally important - service was really good.

Yeah traffic is definitely down, but it doesn't appear that bad. Given the track record of their other businesses, I'm very optimistic they are in healthy financial shape to endure temporary loss of business due to the surrounding construction. I love K324, had lunch with the misses last week there. My only complaint is the building sure is drafty during the winter time. The food seems to get cold before I'm halfway done with my meal.

I recommend it to a lot of out-of-towners. One of the things I love about Kitchen 324 (besides the food) is the ambiance. It feels like restaurants I have been to in larger cities; almost a Manhattan vibe (especially before the street work started). The windows and the interior are a huge part of the feel. I recall when it opened that I had a distinctly "this feels like someplace other than OKC" sensation, which I have had at other times recently, such as standing in the just-reopened MBG. It just feels like a place that has propelled us forward in some way, and not all (even my favorite) new restaurants do that.

"this feels like someplace other than OKC" sensation

Exactly how I felt -- and probably even said it aloud -- when I ate there for this first time this fall.

I was sitting at the windows along Robinson, watching the traffic go by and people out running and walking on a Saturday. Never thought I'd see that when I worked in Leadership Square in the 80's.

The space itself is very sophisticated as it the operation, and the views out onto the street have a decidedly big city feel.

I have had dinner there 3 times now. The last time was a week ago last Friday before the Thunder game. I did not have reservations and had to sit at the community table. I have had a nice conversation with the manager each time I have eaten there. I will keep going in the evening to support K324 through all of the construction because I really appreciate what the Paul's are doing for the CBD.

Thank you for the support, especially during the P180 work. We expect to get the intersection (Dean McGee/Robinson) cleared within the next 2 weeks. That will make a world of difference. It's going to be fun to be back to normal this spring!

Btw...the P180 folks have been very attentive to our needs during this process. Completely happy on our end.

For the most part, I rarely, rarely take on work centered in OKC. However, given the superb choices for grub, both early am and later on in the day, I'm really starting to rethink my earlier decision.
Four years back, I would have found the idea downright amusing. If I do shift my take on things, then quite frankly tuck and 324 will be a good portion of why it happens.

Had breakfast at this establishment today. Got there a little after 9:30. The place was nice and busy, but not packed. It did fill up after I got there, though. Anywho, I ordered the bacon and Monterey jack strata and an almond croissant. The server returned after a few moments to tell me they were out of the almond croissants, so I switched to the chocolate croissant. The server returned after a few more moments to tell me that they were out of the strata. (I seem to be in a hideous run of misfortune when it comes to the availability of desired menu items...) I then perused the menu again and switched to the open-faced toast (Shaved black forest ham, poached egg, gruyere, thyme bechamel [a sauce], crispy potatoes.) The croissant arrived and was consumed while I waited for the rest of the food. Twenty or so minutes after my revised order, the food you see below arrived.

Being a fan of fancy cheeses, I was appreciative of the Gruyere's presence. The eggs were properly poached, not reducing the meal to a cold, sloppy mess. There was no skimping on the ham, whose flavor was powerful, but not overly so. One might expect the bread to get lost in the equation, but it managed to come through the fray, completing the experience with each bite. The service was competent and friendly, especially given the increasing busyness and ordering difficulties. Once things got going, they went quite well. This is definitely a place to keep in mind if you want to treat yourself to a good breakfast.

TigerGuy, thanks for stopping by Kitchen 324. I apologize for us being out of the Strata, really no excuse worth mentioning. All pastries are are on a first come/first serve basis. Being the holidays, we are having a tough time keeping up...it's a great problem to have.

It's honestly the first restaurant space in OKC that ever made me feel like I was in a different city. The space, combined with the great windows looking out onto the heart of downtown have almost an NYC feel. More recently I've had similar experiences (as in "is this really OKC?") inside Fassler Hall and also Broadway 10. And when I say felt like I was in a different city, you might take that to mean ANOTHER city, but I've come to accept that these experiences are only indicative of a city that is becoming different than it once was.

Of course, it also helps that the food at Kitchen 324 is fabulous.

I posted almost this exactly same thing about K324 when I first visited about a year ago.

I went mid-morning on a Saturday and sat along the widows that face Robinson. The restaurant space, the energy, the people and the view made me feel very much like I was in New York.

And surprisingly, there was quite a bit of activity along Robinson, with people running and walking.

You can describe and track and measure the changes in OKC all day long, but it's moments like that one which transcend any numbers or photos.

And right after this -- about 11 in the AM -- we went over to Skinny Slims to find the place packed with people watching soccer and then sat outside on a beautiful day and watched the place fill up again, and watched all the people walking between Deep Deuce and Bricktown. It was another really cool "wow have things changed" moment.
