If a place calls themselves a "lounge" or has comfy couches and such I suspect they expect folks to dig in for the long haul. If not, probably not.

It could use some artwork, which works in sleek and modern, a bigger bar to add your milk, sugar, etc. and a few more pastries (hope the owner is reading this). We didn't see any plugs for computers either. But it's very convenient and with all the people living in the immediate area, should be very popular.

Or maybe you could just tell him yourself next time in. His name is Mark.

Regarding artwork he is contemplating having the pillars muralized for a pop of color. Other than that, there is not a whole lot of blank wall space in the place. It's mostly windows. The white blinds are usually fully up during the business day, and the street itself provides far more visual interest than artwork could hope to. The windows are fantastic.

Since I'm the one who sparked this discussion, I'd like to point out again that I had thought the image we saw was from the window looking in and that the window shades were the walls themselves. Seeing as that's not the case, I think it's fine. I'm of the opinion that no art is as impressive as the live art display of a window.

You must not have looked very hard. There is a four-plex next to every single table along the outside walls:

My bad. I looked and didn't see them. I'm very happy with the coffee. I don't, however, find LEVEL particularly attractive and I do like art. Differences in taste....

Really? Just seems like the right thing to do. If you have constructive feedback for a business owner it seems like a much better plan to ask for that person and politely discuss it with them rather than to throw out critiques online and hope they happen to be reading. Her suggestions were mostly constructive; I'm sure he'd appreciate hearing them.

Shawn,

I do really like that idea as 2nd street has several places to eat and shop that I like to tell guests about.

I'll walk it next week and see if I can think of a proposal path that wouldn't cut into many parking spots, and will see if Karchmer wants to take a look at it sometime.

Off topic- but is there a way to easily know threads you have posted in for later follow up? *edit* found it!

It feels like you're being competitive here.

Competetive? What exactly does that even mean?

I'm not sure, but I see that a lot when people have derisive suggestions for others and then follow-up with a name drop. It's more a pattern of behavior than a series of specific facts. It's no big deal, but I generally save my nastiness for people who deserve it, and not betts lol. :P

Thanks for the (ironic) lesson in message board civility. I still don't understand the intended meaning of the word "competitive"..?

I sure hope there's another pool! That thing is sad for a decent size apartment complex. What's the building in that courtyard?

It's just a little soak pool -- all they have room for.

The building is a little bar for events and a restroom in the back.

I believe Mosaic tenants have access to the pool at Level.

I wonder how Tree + Leaf is doing. I love the location, but it seems empty any time I pass by...

Their hours seem totally random. I have gone by and seen a handful of people on laptops and such, then the same time the next day the place is dark. I would guess it is struggling heavily, but have never seen more than 1 staff member at a time, so it is probably cheap labor; rent is probably the killer.

Also it is called Leaf + Bean. The other place you're talking about I think is local clothing.

Oops. Yeah, I meant Leaf + Bean.

A new place called Willow Coffee Company is taking over the former Leaf + Bean in the Mosaic.

They open April 4th.
