So far, Oklahoma has 3 locations for Half Price Books bookstores. There are 2 in Oklahoma City: one at 63rd and May, and one at I-240 and Penn. There is also a 3rd location in Edmond. They were opened in the order I have listed. I feel that more stores are on the way, at very least a 4th store, as Oklahoma has proven to be a successful investment for them.

So where are locations you would either LIKE to see a HPB built at, ...or where do you think some future Oklahoma locations could be that HPB sees as being economically viable?

btw, if you havent checked these stores out, they are worth the visit. great selection and prices. The Edmond location is the smallest square footage store, I wasnt to impressed by it. My fave OKC location is I-240 and Penn, the selection seems to be the best there out of the 3. (Ive been in about 20 HPB stores in both OK & TX...and no, I dont work for HPB,.just a fan of them)

Their flagship store/headquarters in Dallas is mammoth. Greater in size than Lowe's, Home Depot, Sams Club or Super Walmart. Its located at 75 and N.W. Highway.

I don't live over there, but the East side has long been neglected by the book market. So, it'd be nice to see one in or near Town Center on SE 29th in MWC.

Either MWC/Del City area or Norman.

Would definitely like to see something in MWC/Del City. Just learned today that Book Rack in MWC is closing after Christmas which is a bummer, been buying used books there for most of my life. We don't really have any other book stores in the area.

We need it in MWC! We do read in Eastern OK Co and I think we could easily support a store.

I would definitely shop at HPB in MWC. Are they reading this thread?

I have personally emailed them to consider a location in Norman, which seems like a total no-brainer: 3rd most populous city in Oklahoma, on major transportation corridor (35), home to OU, many educated and affluent families reside there, etc, etc. I was kind of appalled that Norman was skipped over in favor of Edmond. The location isnt exactly easily accessible off of the highway, and by the time you get there it wasnt worth the drive anyways because the store is ridiculously small (smallest one Ive ever been in.) ....Maybe Norman will get the biggest one in the state.

As far as MWC, never really thought of it. but truth be told MWC has seen better economic days about 20 years ago. With the closing of General Motors, Heritage Park Mall, Venture/Kmart, and pretty much the total commercial demise of what was once a very crowded intersection at Reno and Midwest Blvd. (that traffic light on Reno just due west of Midwest Blvd used to be much beneficial in allowing shoppers to easily commute from Target to Walmart, vice versa, but today pretty much serves zero purpose).

The only things that are holding MWC economic life-support together today is Tinker AFB and that new shopping center right across the street from it.

@ Uncle Cyrus....they are reading it now...I have emailed them this entire thread. Hope the word gets out.

I am a regular patron of HPB. Having lived in Portland and been spoiled by Powell's City of Books, HPB is the closest OKC (or most any city) will ever get to having an impressive bookstore with a decent enough selection of the less popular literary genres.
