First they fire their university president after only 3 months without giving a real reason, and now their athletic director is implicated in a gambling ring:

University of Tulsa places athletic director Ross Parmley on leave following FBI gambling indictment (http://www.kjrh.com/dpp/sports/college_sports/university_of_tulsa/university-of-tulsa-places-athletic-director-ross-parmley-on-leave-following-gambling-allegations)

Was there ever a reason given for the firing of President Orsak?

If not, what is the word on the street?

Don't know anything personally, Pete, but it sure seems that this may be only the tip of the iceberg. There's apparently some connection between the AD and some high-stakes poker games, which in turn has gotten the NCAA's attention. I don't think the FBI would be involved if it were a matter of the guy playing the occasional nickel-and-dime game with buddies.

This isn't as big of a deal as it's purported to be. The FBI identified gambling clients of Teddy Mitchell in their indictment against him. Parmley was a former client. Apparently, he quit gambling on sports before taking the AD job at Tulsa. He is not being charged with a crime. Tulsa needed him to go, though, but mostly for appearances. I know the NCAA takes gambling very seriously, as it should.
