It's a sad statement for humanity that people actually watch that show.

I watch some terrible tv. I will be the first to admit that.

But I have tried to watch that show on 2 occasions (mainly because I remembered her from an episode of Toddlers & Tiaras). I can't get through more than 2 or 3 minutes. It is just plain nasty. It's sad that people watch that show, but even sadder that people will stoop that low for their 5 minutes. There is no way that they aren't embellishing their nastiness just for tv.

Ever wonder why the more redneck areas are hit by tornadoes more than others? Maybe it is God trying to tell us "No, stop that!" :)

I'm just sad that this show even exists. Not surprised, but still sad.

I didn't think anything could be worse than Dog, The Bounty Hunter. This poor girl and her family help reiterate that sterilization is the key to humanity's survival. These people make Deliverance look good.

What a train wreck.

If you are into the dumb redneck thing, I guess.

10 years...working on her second child, weighing about 400lbs, missing 80% of her teeth, and living in a trailer with half her family still wearing her crowns.

It wouldn't bother me if she followed in former child beauty pageant queen JonBenét Ramsey's footsteps.

Tweeeeeeeet! Party foul, over the line - 15 yards and loss of down.

I really feel sorry for the little girl. One day reality is going to slap her across the face and it won't be a pleasant experience for her.

Just when I thought the first comment couldn't get anymore repulsive.

In reality, I find this sort of programing pretty harmless as its absurdity should be pretty obvious to most viewers. The really scary programming can often be found on CBN and shows like the 700 Club.

while i find shows like this cringe-worthy but harmless, the part i find repulsive is that this airs on tlc, "the learning channel."

Last night, after I got home from work, I turned on the TV and did some channel surfing. Generally, I use The Guide (on-screen) to facilitate this activity. At some point I noticed half-hour segment after half-hour segment labeled "Here . . ." I thought, "What a strange name for a show." Since it was on TLC I thought maybe it was something educational, perhaps involving geography or advances in science. Then, after the long string of "Here . . ." s I saw the dreaded words "Toddlers and Tiaras" and realized, to my horror and relief, that I had just barely dodged the bullet of accidentally clicking on something involving Honey Boo Boo.

In all fairness, The Learning Channel reaches new heights in teaching us just how low American viewing taste and programming can go.

Oh! Here's a History Lesson on The Origins of Toddler Beauty Contests

Doesn't the name "Honey Boo Boo" remind you of a cartoon bee in one of those old "Educational Films" from about the same time as the vidclip, above? Like, a bee that is always doing something to mess up the hive . . . perhaps with the proper behavior demonstrated by another cartoon bee named "Honey Doo Doo"? . . . . . It doesn't? =)

The only thing TLC is teaching anyone these days is how to exploit the worst traits of human nature for entertainment purposes. But they aren't the first, and they most certainly won't be the last.

Last night I accidentally walked into a room in which the TV was tuned to The Lobotomy Channel, specifically to "Say Yes To The Dress--Atlanta" and watching it for only, like, two minutes confirmed my opinions about many things mentioned on this thread.

I think there is a good chance that in about 10 years Honey Boo Boo (a.k.a. HB2) will be hosting that program. Except by then it will have devolved into something involving actual catfighting over the dresses with The Gay Guy acting as referee.

ShiroiHikari

Yeah, Say Yes is pretty terrible. In order to keep some of my faith in the human race, I tell myself that there's no way people are actually that petty.

Considering how so many rednecks dearly hate gays, that poor little girl is surely in big trouble now.

The Lobotomy Channel ought to schedule an entire half hour, every day, to show that video.
Over and over again. Like, about 60 times. It's about as gay as it gets.
Not that there's anything "wrong" with that . . .

I wonder if any of the nay-sayers at the network, while this was being pitched, thought:
"Here Comes Money Boo Boo . . ."

Here's to hoping she and her entire family will "experience Coke," Len Bias-style, in the very near future.

Nah...they are more traditionalists. Meth is where it's at. They can't leave their roots behind or TLC will cancel them. :-P

Anyone watch the South Park episode the other night? Funny stuff, though I'm not a big fan of parodies targeting someone so young...... The bit about James Cameron looking to 'raise the bar' was my favorite.
