Pete 07-27-2012, 08:29 AM That's the Walcourt -- used to be apartments. Read all about it and see lots of photos here: http://www.abandonedok.com/the-walcourt/ HangryHippo 07-27-2012, 09:42 AM It would not hurt my feelings at all for the Midtown Renaissance guys to buy this building and work their magic. I love this old building. I wish someone would do something with it. mmonroe 07-28-2012, 11:55 AM There is a nice Geocache near this location. ;-) Midtowner 07-30-2012, 02:56 PM Same owner since 1976. http://www.oklahomacounty.org/assessor/Searches/AN-R.asp?ACCOUNTNO=R034270805 I doubt anything changes anytime soon. When I win a Powerball or whatever it is called I was going to buy it!! It is a neat building for sure. I hope someone renovates it before it deteriorates and gets the wrecking ball. There was another thread somewhere that had interior photos. There is a lot of junk to be cleared out before the structure can be assessed. CaptDave 08-02-2012, 07:51 AM Well you are in luck because I didn't have a winning Powerball ticket last night. You better move quick though because if I ever get that ticket......;) kevinpate 08-02-2012, 02:24 PM Well you are in luck because I didn't have a winning Powerball ticket last night. You better move quick though because if I ever get that ticket......;) Had to grin on that. If I had hit a mondo size powerball last year or this year, and thus officially had more money than sense, those who really, really hate Stage Center would be horribly, horribly angry with me by now (although the music students DT and from elsewhere would likely write a nice tune or three about me.) CaptDave 08-02-2012, 02:51 PM I would love to be able to build or redevelop something downtown that would stand the test of time. Maybe that is a bit of an ego trip, but I think it would be cool to leave something like that behind once I am gone. KayneMo 02-02-2014, 08:35 PM I drove by this building yesterday. Such a shame it's fallen into neglect, it's such a beautiful building! betts 02-02-2014, 09:12 PM No one is allowed to touch this building. Wife and I plan on getting rich and returning to buy this place up and restore it. :) I've got earlier dibs. I fell in love with that building when we moved to OKC in 1980. I've been watching it since then and IIRC it was already boarded up. But, if I win the powerball, which is pretty silly since I don't buy lottery tickets, I'd be purchasing the Stage Center first. |
