People...Get vaccinated. Get your kids vaccinated.
When you don't, kids die needlessly. A pertussis outbreak in Washington, an anti-vaxxer hotspot, has already taken 8 lives. More will come. The cause may not have been direct from people skipping vaccines, but a novel strain has to have somewhere to build up variation.

Years ago in Japan there was a concern about the DPT vaccine and people stopped vaccinating their children. There were so many deaths from pertussis that the nation realized it was a mistake to withhold them and they again have very good compliance with vaccines.

The autism-vaccination link was faked research by a publicity hound physician. There is no data supporting his assertion.

I'm not old enough to have seen the improvements in morbidity and mortality following many of the earlier vaccines, but I have seen a phenomenal improvement in the incidence of meningitis and other invasive infections with the Hib, Pneumovax and meningococcal vaccine. People who don't immunize their children are stupid. I don't use that word very often, but they are.

We've had a baby die in Oklahoma City from pertussis in the last month. As an adult, when you are due for your next tetanus shot, make sure you ask to have pertussis included. Adults who are no longer immune are infecting unimmunized children, some of whom are too young to be immunized.

How do adults know if their no longer immune?
