Praedura 07-05-2013, 11:25 AM There's a call-to-artists for this garage:
OKC Arts Newsletter | News with Tags (http://newswithtags.com/Parking/us2-campaignarchive1-okc-arts-newsletter)
The actual proposal is here:
http://www.okc.gov/arts/FINALProjectAnnouncement.pdf
Praedura 07-05-2013, 11:28 AM Here's a sketch from the pdf showing the proposed area for enhancement:

Praedura 07-05-2013, 11:30 AM Also, an interesting quote:
The facility is currently undergoing a ground floor renovation that includes replacing the
reflective window glazing with transparent storefront windows and an interior remodel
to accommodate City of Oklahoma City Utility personnel.
Interesting. I didn't know that. What's that about?
The ground floor has been used by another city agency and it seems they are remodeling to accommodate the utilities department.
Glad to see this art project... Currently, that surface is just plain concrete panels.

Ok, thanks.
By the way, I forgot to grab the other sketch. But, as you can tell in the pdf, both the south and east facades will get the enhancement.
Praedura 07-05-2013, 01:07 PM $30,000 for the winning entry, eh?
Hey, how hard could this be? Ok, I spent a few quality minutes with the image editor. Let's see what I can conjure up here:

Woohoo! I think it got it! Hmm... now what should I spend that $30K on?
$2.7 million (!!) building permit today to remodel 20,780 square feet on the ground floor for the OKC Utilities Department.
Holy cow, that's a lot of money.
Perhaps that includes the proposed improvements to the facade as well.
UnFrSaKn 07-10-2013, 03:06 PM I wonder if they are developing this garage in preparation for what's going up across the street....
This garage is already pretty full and will be more so due to the downtown elementary school directly south.
UnFrSaKn 07-16-2013, 10:41 AM Thought I would snap some photos of what the ground floor office space looks like.

ULI tweeted about this going on the Sheridan garage this year. Assuming this is the garage they are talking about?

As you may recall they held a design competition as part of a remodel of the ground floor.
Urbanized 03-05-2014, 10:36 AM What in the world is it? Some sort of Steampunk/Art Deco fusion? I'm not calling it bad, but it IS odd...
Yeah, I'm not sure if I like it or not...
metro 03-05-2014, 10:54 AM After seeing the tweeted proposal, I'm really starting to like Praedura's Microsoft Paint proposal better.
I confirmed that the public art project for this garage is still on track, it's just been delayed due to construction. The OKC Utilities Department is in the process of renovating the entire ground floor for their use, and some water drainage issues are being addressed in advance of the install.
This was design selected; I'm told it will be pretty cool once you see it in person:

Bullbear 08-15-2014, 12:16 PM well I get it. kind of film cans and film tape design art deco ish.. since its a connection to film Row. I will be interested to see the final product and how it look s in real life. I don't hate it.

Kind of reminds me of a Borg cube
Plutonic Panda 10-26-2014, 12:57 AM I don't not like it. I like it.
The City has a $1.5 million project out to bid to renovate the exterior of this garage.
There will ultimately be public art added once the fixes are done.

Colbafone 09-20-2017, 09:56 AM Cool! The Parking Garage District is really taking off!
Our day has come!
traxx 09-20-2017, 01:57 PM Can we put up some kind of sign when people enter OKC on the interstates? Something like "OKC: America's Premiere Parking City."
jccouger 09-20-2017, 02:31 PM They should paint murals of all of our parking garages on this garage.
shawnw 09-20-2017, 06:00 PM They should build parking garages inside our parking garages because we like parking garages.
This is another structure where the crazy dark windows make it seem complete dead, when in fact there is considerable office space on the ground floor.
Arts Commission just approved this mural by LA artist Adam Smith/Codak:
