View Full Version : Large Casino by the Kickapoo to break ground in Shawnee
Jesseda 06-08-2012, 11:49 AM Okay so back in Jan of this year, ther ewaqs a announcement about a very large casino resort that will be built in shawnee that will be built and ran by Kickapoo. I was told by a friend that last week they noticed ground work being done in the area that the news said it was going to be built. Does anybody know more info on it. Also how big is this thing going to be and is there a web site that shows pics of what it might look like? Seems like Shawnee is becoming Casino city.
Maybe Shawnee is the next Tunica, MS. LOL and no, I'm not serious.

Trust me, I've had that same dream a few times while driving past it.
1972ford 06-08-2012, 03:01 PM We just need more casino's on the state borders at the main entry points into Oklahoma like winstar. We will never draw crowds like Atlantic City or Vegas or even the casino barges on the in mississppi I think it is. but we could be the casino capital of the central US We should have a casino by that T-bar they got on our side of the Arkansas borderand pepper ther south east part of the state with them as well as they need something there to draw outside money into the area. Don't we have some tribal land in OKC's borders if so Capitalize and give incentives to the tribes to construct a large Casino in the city and provide public transportation to it/them as well
mmonroe 06-08-2012, 04:56 PM There was a tribe not too long ago that wanted to put some land into trust just north of the OKC Adventure District and the Federal Government wouldn't let them do it. They were going to build a large Casino and Resort.. would have been nice.. but you know how it is, if we can't get money out of it by taxing it, can't do it.

I think that was the Seminole Tribe. It woulda been awesome but I don't think Remington Park wanted any of that.

Thank you! I've been looking for this. Sad this isn't coming to fruition.
venture 06-08-2012, 11:03 PM My dream idea would be like the one above with the Hwy 9 strip...but along the Canadian River. Then damn the river up to create another massive lake across South Norman to help... 1) Address the water supply issue Norman has and 2) Increase recreation variety to the landscape.

Sounds nice, Venture, but I'm not sure the topography there would lend itself too well to a dam and lake.
mmonroe 06-09-2012, 08:39 AM I'm surprised a tribe hasn't got it in their minds yet to build a "strip" of casinos... HUGE attraction if they did it right.
oklahomacasino 10-17-2012, 04:08 PM Shawnee has 6 - 8 casinos already. Are you talking about a new casino or the Firelake Grand re branding into a resort?
Larry OKC 10-20-2012, 10:01 PM Firelake Grand is owned by a different tribe (Citizen Potawatomi Nation)
