The movie version of the play starts filming this fall starring Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts. There have been rumors that The Weinstein Company is scouting locations around Tulsa and Bartlesville for shooting. I know the Oklahoma film commission has been lobbying very hard to have part of the movie shot in Oklahoma.

I believe they are also doing some shooting in Pawhuska, as that is where the play is set I believe. Be the second major production filmed in Bartlesville in as many years.

I hope they shoot it here, but Tracey Letts' previous play adapted to film, Bug was not shot here despite being set in Oklahoma. They didn't shoot much of the Kevin Durant movie Thunderstruck here either.

I was living in NYC during August Osage County's initial Broadway run. Went to see it, and the theater was full of people wearing Ostrich skin boots and speaking with very mild Okie accents. I suspected that pretty much every NY'er with Oklahoma ties who had any interest in theater came out for the play.

It was great, but not sure how adaptable for film.
