View Full Version : Did you "stroll?" FRISKY 05-25-2012, 08:13 PM I did at school dances. RadicalModerate 05-26-2012, 10:28 AM Frankly, I'm surprised that The Republic survived the rebellious, savage, sensual, throbbing beat hammering away at the foundations of our civilization . . . Even in Iowa. But I was only six years old in '58 so, no, I never got to "Stroll".... Although I used to watch American Bandstand starting when I was about nine or ten. By the time I was seventeen, dancing had devolved into a set of disorganized spasms accompanied by music. ("music" such as the proto-grunge the garage band i was in played =) Doug Loudenback 06-01-2012, 05:06 AM I was a teenager in the age of the stroll, but, being shy, I never did it ... it kinda looks like those guys/gals in the video were shy, too, even though doing the dance. Graduating from Lawton HS in 1961, and being engaged in rock and roll since the 7th grade in junior high, I loved everything rock 'n roll, including the stroll. Sadly, it would take me decades to attempt to dance like those I saw on American Bandstand, and, by the time I got over my shyness, the Stroll was long gone by. Still enjoy watching it, though. Thanks for posting. lt14life 06-17-2012, 07:02 PM Hello All,, well I was born in 1959 so I never got to stroll,, but it looks pretty cool,, thanks for the video. |
