Let's do this.
RadicalModerate 05-21-2012, 11:34 PM Quick PC Check before buying in (c/o Charles Barkley) . . .
Are there any black people in San Antonio?
I know there is an Alamo and Riverwalk . . .
Yet . . . I wonder . . .
As fate would have it, I'll be in OKC from June 13-20, perfectly timed for the NBA finals!
I know we have an ultra-tough series with San Antonio before we can think about that, but I'm really hoping the stars align and I can be there to celebrate a world championship.
It would be really great if Devon could at least partially fire up the LED lights for the conference finals.
ljbab728 05-22-2012, 12:24 AM Thank goodness those 9:30PM games are over.

I know right!
ljbab728 05-22-2012, 01:25 AM Interesting polls. If you look at the one about who you are rooting for. Most of the country except Texas and California are for the Thunder.

Spartan 05-22-2012, 02:43 AM The big question is what to make of Thunder Alley now. I hope it survives.
MonkeesFan 05-22-2012, 03:54 AM I am rooting for the Spurs to win the whole thing, sorry Thunder fans! I am not a Spurs fan, Tim Duncan is one of my favorite players and would love to see Tim get his 5th ring before he retires for good so that is why I am rooting for the Spurs to win the whole thing.
I am a Orlando Magic fan if you want to know what team I am rooting for just in case :D
Beastboii 05-22-2012, 06:37 AM My friends dad is Antonio mcdeyess.............lucky mofo gets tickets court side to all the games at the spurs

Yeah me too. I wonder if crowds will be smaller with folks staying away out of fear (assuming they even allow TA to survive).

I'm rooting for the Thunder but if San Antonio eliminates us then I'm rooting for the Spurs to win it all. BTW, sorry for your loss in SVG.
Lots of my friends out here in California are pulling for the Thunder.
Not only are they a young, likable team, the Derick Fisher connection helps. He was very well loved in L.A.

Step 1 - no more selling beer. Crowds and beer simply do not mix. If you want to watch the game and drink go to a bar or go home.
Step 2 - they need find parking somewhere besides Bricktown for large events. At night it is a bar district. Parking needs to be somewhere else.

1. Lots of people drank beer that didn't behave badly.... maybe no more beer to people that are intoxicated.
2. Where do you suggest and how do you suggest people get to the arena? People that go to concerts park around Bricktown.
Lots of people go to Bricktown before and after the game, which is why so many people park over there.
More security is the easy answer.

and more security is something that Bricktown has needed anyways... i hate going down there on a friday night and staying late anyways because it has gotten kinda rough.
i know there is a post on here from a few months back that talks about a guy who got jumped and died back in like November...
OSUPeterson 05-22-2012, 11:54 AM Maybe anyone who drinks should be forced to drink to the point they can barely walk... They'll be too drunk to pull stupid moves.
Also, require anyone entering the downtown core to pass through a body scanner. Everyone is totally ok with those things and loves them.
Easy solutions guys, don't know what all the debate is about.
/End joke

So many people park there because that is where the parking is (contray to public opinion). No one is saying 'close Bricktown', just provide alternate parking for those not wanting to park there.
SoonerBoy18 05-22-2012, 04:16 PM I am so excited that the TNT crew iscoming here. Charles Barkley is going to be shocked lol.

So going two hours without beer is out of the question?
BoulderSooner 05-23-2012, 08:11 AM i don't think the people involved were buying any beer from venders
Richard at Remax 05-23-2012, 12:01 PM Since the series doesn't start til Sunday, I think everyone should read this to get blood boiling http://www.startribune.com/sports/wolves/152804215.html

These people might not have been but from eyewitness accounts - some by several people here in OKCTalk, the presence of alcohol introduced an element of the general public that raised the safety issue across the board. It is much easier to hide a needle with other needle than it is in a haystack.

How dare we uncultured hicks go to a basketball game to have FUN?!? We should be like cool fans in cool cities like LA and Miami where everyone not named Jack Nicholson is uninterested in the game. Get it together hicks!
Haters gonna hate.
OKCisOK4me 05-23-2012, 06:02 PM Picking San Antonio in this series 4-2. If we play our best, 4-3. I just can't see us winning it, unless we hit 55% of our shots and our defense stifles them for a season low fg %. Don't misinterpret this post. Love my Thunder but the Spurs are our meat grinder! I sincerely hope I'm wrong cause whoever wins this series, I firmly believe will be the team to win it all.
With regard to the article, Haters Gonna Hate. Dude can't even spell Lakers correctly....hypocrite.

Thank you! I will miss Stan! Best coach Magic ever had! I will not miss Otis however! Looking forward to the new coach and general manager search!
Easy180 05-24-2012, 06:39 AM The good fortune of going up against the hottest team in the league, veteran and well coached...Yikes
Would be a little more optimistic if we had home court advantage but unfortunately we don't. I think Spurs in 6 sounds about right
kerrycampbell 05-24-2012, 10:44 AM Hey, I'm new here but I'm a long-time NBA fan - Spurs are just monstrous right now. They've gone from a stifling defensive team to such an exciting offensive team, and the bench is as deep as anyones in the league including OKC. The d on both sides is good, but ultimately it looks like the experience from the Spurs will be the difference maker. OKC has grown up from last year though, so this is going to be an exciting series:) 4 - 2 to the Spurs.
Thank you! I will miss Stan! Best coach Magic ever had! I will not miss Otis however! Looking forward to the new coach and general manager search!
I've been hearing that Shaq may become y'alls new GM; how do you feel about that?

Agree with both of you. We'll probably give them the toughest round in the playoffs but we'll still fall just a little short, again. Hope I'm wrong though.
Spurs in five or seven. Don't see us losing an elimination game at home.
kevinpate 05-24-2012, 04:56 PM 4-3 Thunder.
All games decided by under 9 points.
Thunder seems turnover immune after game 1.
And oh yeah, blue unicorns in row five, every game.
Back to reality.
Spurs in five, dagnabit
MonkeesFan 05-25-2012, 07:34 AM I've been hearing that Shaq may become y'alls new GM; how do you feel about that?
It would be a disaster! Thankfully Shaq turned the interview down, whew!

I saw that last night. Wish y'all luck with whoever you get though. =)

Thank you again!
OKCisOK4me 05-27-2012, 04:56 PM I'm either going insane or I had a premonition! Had several re-occurring dreams the last couple of nights that the Thunder would be up 3-0 before anything is said. Probably insane, but it would be awesome!
BlackmoreRulz 05-27-2012, 07:33 PM I don't know about that but we sure need to win one of these first two games away.
MonkeesFan 05-27-2012, 10:56 PM I had a dream today that Spurs-Thunder game was tied 96-96 and Kevin Durant hit the 2 pointer buzzer beater game winner with 1.5 seconds left and won 98-96 and what do you know, the Thunder scored 98 points today! Pretty crazy!
Spartan 05-28-2012, 12:18 AM Thunder win game 1 and take the series 4-2.
That was a pretty easy call to make at about the time you posted this lol :cheerlead
Easy180 05-28-2012, 08:49 AM Folded down the stretch like the Mavs and Lakers did against us...Didn't run into great defense just couldn't hit anything...Oh well no one should be too surprised with the outcome
OSUMom 05-28-2012, 10:15 AM Here is my take. We didn't play 'bad' but we didn't have a break out game by anyone. Other then that one stretch where we couldn't buy a basket, we played good. They had a really good game by Ginaboli (However it is spelled). I think the two teams are so evenly matched that each game will go to which ever team has a player that steps up and has a really good, break out, game.
OKCisOK4me 05-28-2012, 01:37 PM Ginobli definitely was the 6th man last night. We can't let them have another 39 point quarter ever. Do that and even with a dry spell, we beat 'em.

As bad OKC played on offense (Westbrook and Harden) and going 4 minutes without scoring in the 4th quarter AND giving up 39 points in the 4th, we only lost by 3 pts. If Durant and Westbrook don't miss 2 dunks we win by one.

And if Harden doesn't hit that meaningless three at the last second, we lose by six. So what?

I am just saying the Thunder were competitive and if everyone just plays an average game (based on seasonal averages) OKC has a good chance to win tonight. It isn't like OKC got blown out and has no hope of winning the series.
Can we win tonight? Sure, I guess so. But the Spurs have lost four times in their last 37 games. Do you really think we're gonna beat them in four out of the next six? Honestly?

We will have to play some of the best basketball of the season to win this series. San Antonio is a damn good team and can win on any floor. Are we out of it? Not at all, but we have our work cut out for us.
That 4th quarter has been more the norm than the first three quarters for SA during their streak.

They can't keep winning forever. I remember a few years ago Houston won 22 in a row and were eliminated in the first round 4-2 by Utah.
They can't keep winning forever.
Well I suppose that's just as good a reason as any, right?
I remember a few years ago Houston won 22 in a row and were eliminated in the first round 4-2 by Utah.
You left out kind of a super-important sidenote to that: They didn't have Yao Ming for that series.
jn1780 05-29-2012, 10:01 PM Well, Im calling it: Spurs will win the championship this year. Thunder won't even be a speedbump apparently.
circuitboard 05-29-2012, 10:43 PM Yeah I am not sure OKC can recover. We would need to win back to back twice to have a chance.
The Spurs are just better than the Thunder. Here's hoping for next year!
Easy180 05-29-2012, 11:11 PM Ran into a great team is all....Regardless of the rest of the series it has been another great year and highly enjoyable
SoonerBoy18 05-29-2012, 11:47 PM Even though the Spurs are going to win the series, I hope we can win at least 2 here in Oklahoma City, It would so good ending their win streak
blangtang 05-30-2012, 12:24 AM Spurs looked like the Globetrotters in the 3rd Q. Haven't seen something like that in a while...
dcsooner 05-30-2012, 06:40 AM We really need inside scoring to get to the next level. Our reliance on outside shots willl not carry us to a championship. This has been another great year in preparation for a possible title run in about 2 years, but the Thunder who have so far stood pat before the trading deadline need to be more like SA in adding pieces to complete the team to make a title run. Maybe youth does have to pay its due, sure seems so.
Just the facts 05-30-2012, 07:48 AM For you Perkins fans, take a long look because I don't think he will be around next season. That guy couldn't throw a basketball in the water if he was sitting in a boat.
