Perkins is not an offensive player, Presti simply brought him in to stop the Lakers, so he earned his paycheck last series. The Spurs are a different animal, with T.Parker and Ginobli. Last night, KD, Harden, and Westbrook went for 31pts, 30pts, and 27pts, and we still lost, we are not beating the Spurs, point blank.

The Spurs have proven the past 38 games that they are the best team in the NBA right now. The Thunder will be better next year with Maynor healthy and hopefully someone added as an inside scorer.

I'm sure a lot people feel this way but low key theres probably nothing more frustrating for us Thunder fans than seeing a Texas team beat us like the Spurs are doing, knowing that their fan base consists of mostly Longhorn fans lol.

For you Perkins fans, take a long look because I don't think he will be around next season. That guy couldn't throw a basketball in the water if he was sitting in a boat.

Perkins will be here next year.

Yeah, he signed, what, a three year contract? I doubt they're going to amnesty him.

Bill Robertson

Perkins isn't going anywhere. He is here strictly to play defense. He could never score a point and be doing what he was signed to do which is mess up the other teams offense. A job which he usually does very well.

Perkins job is to shut down players like Bynum, M Gasol and Nene. His job is not to score a ton of points. He's not going anywhere.

Maybe so but he can't be pinning the ball to the bottom of the rim while trying do a layup.

Apparently it is quite possible to do all those things, based on the available evidence.

Missing dunks aren't good either, but they both score in the 30s on a regular basis. What we give away on offense with Perkins isn't being made up for on defense, and that is a huge problem. I'll bet he plays less than 12 minutes tonight because Brooks is figuring that out.

Perk was very valuable in the first two rounds but a liability against the Spurs...Spurs are just in a class by themselves unfortunately but 2nd best in the tough West ain't bad at all

Despite my differences with Mary Fallin, I love how she quickly said to Ernie Johnson that Oklahoma City is #2 in Job creation and #1 in lowest unemployment =)

Not bad! I just wish TNT would update the shot from Bricktown looking down Sheridan at the skyline - I'm glad they picked probably our best skyline view, but it along with all of their OKC skyline imagery is pre-Devon. So I'm glad they worked in a few live aerial shots like this.

To add to that they offered him a seat right behind the bench and he turned it down.

Great performance last night. Sadly I still don't think we can pull this off. If we hadn't squandered game one it would be a different story. We're in a position now where (including the game 3 win) we have to string together 4 straight against the Spurs...because I just don't see us winning a game 7 down there.

Hope I'm wrong though!

I'll bet he plays less than 12 minutes tonight because Brooks is figuring that out.Not a huge problem. Perkins plays a huge defensive role against teams who like to drive to the basket a lot. The Spurs don't so much so I would agree that against them Perkins is not a major factor. But in a whole season Perkins is very valuable. He also was against the Mavs and Lakers. As for an offensive trade off what do you want. The Thunder averaged over 100 points per game during the season. They scored 111 in game 2 against the Spurs. Our offense is fine. If we can contain the Spurs perimeter shooting like we did in game 3 we still have a shot at this thing.

Perkins' totals last night: 23 minutes, 2-4 FG, four points, eight rebounds to lead the team, and he and Ibaka led the team with three blocks each.

Tim Duncan looked tired last night, shot only 33% and 2 rebounds. The Spurs blog site is saying that his minutes need to be reduced already, that he's old and tired. This could play right into a favorable game 7 for the Thunder.

...and I don't think he had a single traveling violation. He has also been driving by my house giving me the 'stare down' - kind of like those Orkin bugs :)

Everyone has already covered the game, which was GREAT! But I have to add one little unbasketball related comment. Say what you will about Hansen, those boys can SING. I've been to a lot of games this season, and that was the best Nat Anthem. The guy that did the Anthem on his sax was pertty darned good, but last night beat that.

How about Perkins tonight? Everyone gave him a hard time after the first two, but I've been really impressed with him in these last two games! Ibaka was unbelievable. Kid Clutch showed up as usual, too.

Im going to be nervous for Thunder in Game 5 like I was when OU played at OSU in 2010 lol. every possesion will count, hopefully Ibaka, Perkins, and Collison will not get uncomfortable

Thabo's steal was great, too. Hopefully game five or six will be more like Bedlam from 2011 or 2009 in the Thunder's favor. I'd like another blowout or two. :) I doubt that will happen though.

The pressure now shifts to the Spurs.

Not only have they lost the last two, if they don't win this next one they are in deep poop.

We need to let it all hang out in San Antonio and keep them on their heels. If we could win that one, we are in fantastic shape.

Less monumental note, it would be the first NBA Final where both teams had non pluralized names.

If they play in game 5 like they did in the first two quarters last night they may have a chance at beating the Spurs Monday. Assuming they lose tomorrow, but win Wednesday at home this would put a lot pressure on the Spurs to finish out the series in a game 7. They weren't expected to have to play a game 6 or 7 a few days ago.

Logan18
06-04-2012, 03:22 PM
I'm saying we will win in 6. If we win tonight, I should be right. If not, I still think we'll find a way to win game 7 in San Antonio.

OKCisOK4me
06-04-2012, 04:53 PM
Ok, here's my reasoning for winning tonight...

Game 1, we had momentum...momentum of coming off a series against LA. They were on a high. They were leading in SA by 8 or whatever to start the 4th quarter and then SA did something that no other team this year has done to us. They scored 39 points. I think that deflated the team. Now they're riding the momentum of having won 2 in a row against a team that had won 20 in a row and that's definitely big time.

We're still going to have to fire on all cylinders like them being a well oiled machine. I mentioned that we had to play at home like lasers cause that's the only thing that can cut through that well oiled machine. Going to have to be big time performances tonight for them to shine in San Antone but I'm positive they can do it.

If we don't, it'll be SA in 6 or 7. The momentum can easily swing back their way. It's our players choice whether or not they're going to give it back to them.

This is our Game 7 hands down. I believe we are going to win tonight, we are too motivated.

Back to OKC now for game 6 and a chance to close it out. It's really fun to thumb your nose at all of the talking heads who, when the Thunder have beaten the Spurs, basically said "That's a nice win, but".

So now that game 5 is over, and we lead 3-2, i think san antonio is gonna get down to business. Their going to give a hard game on wednesday. I think if Thunder looks at this game like its game seven, then we'll get it done. When the crowd is right, Thunder will be alright.

Bill Robertson

I hope, and think, that San Antonio doesn't have much business to get down to. Popovich tried adjustments to the lineup like having Ginobli start and it didn't work in games 3, 4 or 5. I think they're out of things to try. Also, by the end of games 4 and 5 Parker and Duncan looked tired. I think our guys are going to come out hungry and confident. I predict that there won't be a game 7. GO THUNDER!!!!!!

It is interesting how many sports analysist along with a slew of people are still picking the Spurs to win the series. I mean last night the TNT broadcast team of Kenny and Shaq still believe the will win the series. The only one saying it is over is Sir Charles, I guess the Thunder still are still deemed inferior to the Spurs.

There is no doubt the Spurs are going to come out swinging, however, if the Thunder can play their game. They will win.

Thunder win game 1 and take the series 4-2.

I gotta hand it to ya--as absolutely ****ing ridiculous as I thought this prediction was at the time, you nailed it. (Well, except for the Game 1 part).

Anyway, nice call.
