Did they narrow Sheridan? I don't remember the sidewalk being nearly that wide on the south side of the Colcord...
Yes, they did. Added about 6-8 feet of sidewalk space there.
You can see it by comparing old aerials to most recent ones.
jbrown84 05-04-2012, 03:35 PM Thanks, Pete.

Sheridan is actually "open" all the way through downtown now, so it's one of the easier progress areas to check out in person right now. It's particularly messy by the Cox, but you'll get through.
lasomeday 05-07-2012, 12:27 AM Going to the Flint preview this week. Really excited about it!
From today courtesy Urban Pioneer:

Flint is open as of yesterday; note there is new direct entrance (rather than just through the hotel lobby) on the SE corner of the building.
They now have their menu up: http://flintokc.com/.

BoulderSooner 05-18-2012, 09:06 AM i will also note that they now have a small patio open .. just south of the Colcord ... looks like 5 or 6 four person tables ...
as noted earlier the large outdoor space with the outdoor bar is going in on the west side of the Colcord and should be open late june early july
betts 05-18-2012, 09:08 AM The decor is rather uninspiring. It looks like a higher end hotel coffee shop/lunch spot. The menu looks interesting, however. I'm sure I'll give it a try soon. I'm still in mourning for the loss of La Baguette, however.
Larry OKC 05-18-2012, 11:18 AM Unless I win the Lottery, I think I will pass...$7 for biscuits & gravy and $12 for an omelete????
t3hwookiee 05-18-2012, 11:52 AM I went to the preview for brunch, and while it would be very expensive to go normally, it was amazing!! Seriously awesome food, great waiter, great cocktails. I "just" got their burger and it was to die for. My husband got lobster crepes (which no way we could normally afford at $14!!), and he said the crepes were amazing, but the sauce was way too sweet. Apparently everyone loves the carrot cake, but there was nothing on the menu about it containing nuts, so I was disappointed about that after I ordered it-I cannot stand nuts. Flint will be nice to go to for an anniversary dinner, but outside of that, no way can we afford to go normally. I added up what we would have spent at our preview meal, and it was around $80 not counting tip, but we did get our two cocktails each, plus each got dessert, which we would not do on our own.
Rover 05-18-2012, 12:25 PM Can't wait to try it. Just another layer of options. As for price and menu, I doubt they are looking to challenge IHOP. If people want cheap we have more fast food and cheap than just about anywhere in the country. It is time we support good and sophisticated.
Spartan 05-18-2012, 04:33 PM I don't think the prices are that bad. I bet their biscuits and gravy are worth $7, just as I bet enjoying their omelet is worth $12.
dcsooner 05-18-2012, 08:19 PM Big league city with dollar store citizens. Agree with Rover wholeheartedly
Just the facts 05-18-2012, 09:15 PM People not spending $500 to $750 a month on car payments and gasoline will be able to afford it. Other people choose to literally set their money on fire.
BoulderSooner 05-19-2012, 06:46 PM Great food at very reasonable price points
king183 05-19-2012, 07:31 PM I went to the restaurant for lunch today. It was very good and the prices very reasonable. It took them awhile to get our food out to us, but that was to be expected because it's only their third day open and they apologized to us for it and kept us updated. In other words, nothing to complain about there.
The inside is nice. It's nothing crazy or trendy, but it's simple, nice, and clean. I don't think there's a bad seat in the entire place. The bar is really nice, too. The only odd thing is that the bathroom is on the second floor of the hotel, down a dark hallway. I'm not sure if that's temporary while they finish construction or not.
Anyway, I would recommend it to all of you. It's excellent food at reasonable prices.
$7 for biscuit and gravy and $12 for an omelet at a nice hotel restaurant? Nothing wrong with that at all. Sounds pretty reasonable, as long as the food is good. I'll definitely go there soon.
Steve 05-19-2012, 09:46 PM I got a 3-egg omelet, hashbrowns & and a bagel this morning for $9 - menu price. What are you looking at?

You were there for brunch (I was stalking you/saw you come in)...the breakfast menu has a $12 omelet. And, judging by the other food, it's probably worth it.
Steve 05-19-2012, 10:26 PM No, I was ordering off the menu you just listed - breakfast. I suspect you're talking about the feta omelet, which yeah, is $12 (olives and feta cheese?). I will say the bagel was garbage, and I let the folks in charge know (who agreed & will be making a change on that).
Gotta say overall, if you're willing splurge, the lobster crepes are to kill for.
King, if you were around, you should have come and said "hi." I'm really not worth stalking. Now, the guy who leaving as I was leaving, William H. Macy, is DEFINITELY worth stalking (one of my favorite actors)

Steve, did you find out why Bill Macy was in town?
kevinpate 05-20-2012, 07:34 AM I dunno Steve. Maybe stalking you would make sense. No one else seemed to know he was in town.
I agree with you ... he is a great actor.
lasomeday 05-20-2012, 05:25 PM Ate there at the preview menu was good but not outstanding or anything outside of the box. Kind of dissapointing. Just the usual fair with a few twists and a bit over average prices. The food was good, just not a place that I have to eat.
onthestrip 05-20-2012, 08:20 PM Steve, did you find out why Bill Macy was in town?
Saw Desmond Mason tweet a pic with Macy. Says he is here about a movie he is directing that might be filmed in Oklahoma.
Larry OKC 05-22-2012, 09:13 AM I got a 3-egg omelet, hashbrowns & and a bagel this morning for $9 - menu price. What are you looking at?
The one posted earlier in the thread: http://flintokc.com/sustenance/breakfast/entrees
If you got all of that for only $9, that is more reasonable (based on the menu, it should have been $8 to $9 omelet, $3 bagel & $2 to $3 for the hash browns (not listed) for a total of $12 to $14, only the $12 greek one seems to come with potatoes & toast (maybe a menu omission). To be fair, the $12 was on the high end. They had an egg white omelet for $8 and the other omelets are $9
Some things are priced ok, like the 2 eggs any style for $2. Heck, McDonald's charges you $2 for 1 egg to turn the $1 sausage McMuffin (w/cheese) into a full fledged Egg McMuffin. But then Flint charge $2 for toast , $3 for a toasted bagel and $3 for a sausage patty (now if it a 1/4 or 1/3 pd sausage patty the size of a small saucer or salad plate, I take back the criticism).
:sofa:
further (or is it farther) "to be fair": I realize and have come to expect to pay more in a hotel restaurant than at a "normal" one.

I can vouch for Steve. I had brunch at Flint a couple days ago and had the 3 egg omelet, deep dish potatoes, and toast for $9. Maybe it's only on their brunch menu, but it was one of the best $9 breakfasts I've had. I thought the food and prices were both great.

dcsooner 06-01-2012, 08:32 AM Very Nice! OKC rising
It will make a world of difference when the Century Center gets it's makeover.
It's always been an empty eyesore but now with everything vastly improved all around it, it stands out even more.
edcrunk 06-07-2012, 04:36 PM Me and my fiancee ate at Flint a couple weeks ago and loved it! We'll definitely be back.
dankrutka 06-07-2012, 05:24 PM Had a beer at Flint after the game last night. Very nice set up and Steve Kerr was hanging out there. It's one of few night options in OKC and there were only a few people there after the biggest win in Thunder history. I ate at Coolgreens (food was great!) at 5:30pm before the game and there were zero people there. I keep hearing people want more late night options downtown, but these two were empty...
Spartan 06-07-2012, 07:16 PM The Coolgreen's in the Colcord is open till 6. I'm still a little young to consider that late night..

There is a coolgreens in the concord?
dankrutka 06-07-2012, 07:48 PM There is a coolgreens in the concord?
No. Coolgreen's is a block north just east of Leadership Square.
Spartan 06-07-2012, 07:48 PM Oops I meant City Place (not Colcord, I guess I was thinking about this thread?), street level, in the old Interurban space. Across the street there is fixing to be a second Cafe7 location in the FNC street level that I am extremely excited about.

The guys working the list at the door of Mickey Mantle's after the game should have been sending people to Flint. At Mickey's if you weren't on the list you weren't getting in, period. Most people forget about or don't know that Mickey's has food late almost every night, and it's not just high-end steaks. They have a great late night bar menu, and cater specifically to the business crowd. But unless you are a regular or team/league/network connected I wouldn't bother trying to get into the bar on game nights during the Finals, unless you already have a dinner reservation in the dining room.
Hopefully people will discover Flint and it will help take the strain off of Mickey's. Knowing the ownership, management and staff of MM, they actually would be all for it. They're worn out. They greatly appreciate the game night bar crowds, but their bread-and-butter is the weekday per diem business crowd and couples on weekend upscale dates, and I think they're ready for some normalcy.
I talked quite a bit with NBA superfan Jimmy Goldstein and sent him over to Flint when he was asking about a place for dinner the other day, between games. He had already been to lunch there, and it sounded like Flint had the Jimmy Goldstein seal of approval.

this ..... and i know they need a break ... but am really happy for at least 2 more really fun nights at mickeys after thunder wins
Drake 06-08-2012, 12:13 PM I understand the Thunder players had a quite a Western Conf Championship celebration at Mickey Mantles. I'm sure it was a good night financial wise.
The Thunder girls were there too. But they have very strict rules when it comes to ANY interaction with the players
From yesterday.
The Colcord people told me they should be completely done with the Flint patio and the garden in front of the expansion/connection to the Devon complex in just a few weeks. It's going to be really slick.
Also, I confirmed they are doing a minor updating to all the rooms: replacing the TV's and some other sprucing up.

shawnw 08-03-2012, 03:54 AM I noticed driving home Thursday night that the top of the Colcord was lit up in white (the ledge/outcropping or whatever it's called). I don't remember it being that way. Tried to find a picture of the Colcord at night (just with Google Image search, didn't try photo sites) and that didn't turn out so well.
This was really the only thing I could find and it doesn't seem to be lit here...

Anybody else notice this? If so, has it been this way for awhile and I just missed it, or is this part of the overall enhancements?

Spartan 08-03-2012, 09:49 AM Thats breathtaking. I'm surprised I didn't notice it when I was watching a film in the park the other night..
Devon just knows how to make everything shine better. I'll admit I thought Colcord was good as it was and didn't think it could be improved any. While I miss La Baguette, Flint is also just as good. Kudos Devon.
Now if we can just get La Baguette back downtown. Will not drive that far north for them....
Love it!
We need more of the downtown buildings to step up their game when it comes to illumination.
Especially with new LED innovations, it's much cheaper to do and many more options.
Bellaboo 08-03-2012, 10:40 AM My wife and sister went to the bathroom at the Colcord the other night, they came out and said look at these pictures. They had taken pictures of the bathroom counter tops, they were made from geodes covered in some kind of transparent acrylic compound. Had never seen a sink counter top as cool as that ever before.

that's because they were playing Indiana Jones, and your eyes never came off the screen!
I actually did happen to notice this that night in the park. i just assumed it had been that way for awhile and i just had never noticed before

Can you say LEADERSHIP SQUARE.... the black hole at night.
...could definitely show some leadership on the night skyline.

I think lining each corner or "edge" of Leadership Square with OG&E orange would look great and contrast nicely with the blue on the arena.
The white LED's on the Colcord look very nice and highlight the architectural features of the building very well.
shawnw 08-04-2012, 02:37 PM Thanks Pete

Oh please no. If they're doing a solid color, Blue, Green, or White. Maybe Red if they can make it blend well with the top lights on the buildings (without being too obnoxious). Or if they could do something that fades really nicely. I could see like Orange on the bottom of the building fading into a dark blue at the top to look like a sunset. But just orange would be pretty obnoxious.
CaptDave 08-07-2012, 08:54 PM I am thinking more of a red-orange, not an obnoxious Univ of TN orange. But the fade idea would be nice to have the colors morph along the edges of the building.
Spartan 08-07-2012, 11:49 PM Ok, I'll throw the match... I think they should light the building up with some big ol, bright OSU orange.
(Watch this thread grow to 40 pages of bickering overnight)
I think we can all agree though that Leadership Square seriously needs night lighting, and that the new night lighting on the Colcord is a fantastic touch.
CaptDave 08-08-2012, 06:19 PM Ha ha ha - I was being a little more subtle with that one!!
