lol that is laughable ..
Oakland itself is a joke. Rampant crime. Completely mad max style chaos at night. I’m staying in Mission Bay right now and you can hear what sound like gun shots almost nightly across the bay in Oakland. These stupid idiots are talking about tearing out 980 which I use all the f@cking time and the anti car nuts think of Oakland as some holy ground. They have a shuttered AFB they have these grand plans for as well as apparently the loss of their baseball team. No telling what will become of that property but that city sure has big ambitions. They just recently announced they’d to tunnel the 880. SMDH.

Maybe for people actually IN Oakland, but I know lots of people in the Bay Area and the Warriors are popular everywhere. Oakland itself with 400,000 people makes up less than 5% of the 9.6 million people in the Bay Area. If you live in Berkeley do you some homerism with Oakland that you don't with San Francisco? All the move meant to someone there or in Emeryville is that it's a further train ride to games.

There is absolutely no way you can hear gunshots in Oakland from Mission Bay. That's impossible. It's like seven miles at best.

Sure the hell sounds like it. Even if you can it’s absolutely crazy over there. Went to a studio session yesterday and it’s a sh!thole. I don’t think you people in Oklahoma understand how bad some places are here. It’s not as bad as Fox News paints it to be but it is pretty crazy. Oakland has a lot of potential. BART isn’t safe either especially between SF and Oakland. I think the red line in LA is safer than some sections of BART. Not sure about BART because I haven’t used it a year or so since I’ve ridden. Police/security has been stepped up in LA big time.

Oakland has a lower violent crime rate than Kansas City and Indianapolis and is roughly on par with Nashville and Minneapolis, two growing metro areas (and one of which is likely to win an MLB expansion). "Mad Max style chaos at night"....gimme a break.

Right.

But if you have a database of UNreported crimes in the cities being discussed, please share it, so we can understand the basis for your conclusions on the relative crime rates between the cities that have been brought up for comparison.

I don't have a UN databse, but there is this from the Oakland PD.

And this from the San Francisco Chronicle

So, how many unreported crimes do we have in OKC…. Or Dallas, or Kansas City, or……?

These people are just idiots who visit every once in awhile and think they know it all because they’re liberal democrats who think all is fine in Cali because Fox News and other conservative networks paint the complete opposite picture. I live here. I also recently got a place in Brooklyn. I’ve been experiencing what’s happening in Cali and NYC and you people in Oklahoma have no clue how bad it is unless you spend extended time here and walk around. It might not be 70s-80s bad but it’s bad. Oakland is among the worst.

If you think Oakland is safer than OKC or Kansas City I don’t care what stats you give me you’re a clown and I will not take anything you say serious.

They are just being obtuse. The largest mall in San Francisco just gave the keys to the bank and walked away because everything is fine and blown out of proportion.

Just tell Rover that Oakland has in the wall AC units and he'll jump on the band wagon.

It’s really sad because I don’t want to say this or it be true. I love the bay and SoCal. I love NYC. But these people on this thread posting stupid sh!t like “oh these statistics show this or that” give me a break. Statistics are great ways to use truths to paint lies and vice versa. It shows how out of touch some people are. Maybe people like Swake need to stay in their little cities like Tulsa and worry about what’s going on there. I was just involved with something on the red line last month I don’t want to get into here and finally had charges against me dropped after I had to do something to protect myself after years of it finally happening. You wouldn’t believe the things I’ve seen on BART and metro(both LA and NY) and how often it happens.

As I type this there’s a dude openly smoking meth from the view of my balcony in Hollywood. I witnessed a pimp pull out a gun and point it at a trannys head who he was presumably pimping out after an argument that went on for about 15 minutes while I was waiting to change my auto insurance. Last week I witnessed a guy molesting a dog on the elevator at the Hollywood and highland station. These people in Oklahoma have no f@cking what the goddamn f@ck goes on out here and that’s less than 1 percent of what I see.

Of course to some you’ll probably think I’m making this up. If so good. No one should know this happens let alone witness it. I did ride the red line today and checked out the regional connector, ate at the grand central market, and then took the E line to end of the k line to eat at a really good halal place and there was a heavy police presence. I wish it was always like that. Can’t speak to BART as I haven’t ridden it in awhile but I’ve heard it’s bad. The streetcars in SF are fine.

Tons and tons of stores are closing in SF and LA. It’s sad. But lots of new stuff is also opening and being built. So I really don’t know what the hell is going on but it’s absolutely insane.

With all that said I love it out here and once my family goes I’ll have zero desire to ever return to Oklahoma or Texas.

I don’t live in Mission Bay, Einstein. Never said I did. I said I was working a project at a recording studio in Oakland and I was staying at Mission Bay at a lady friends apartment of mine. I didn’t say it like that but I never said I lived in Mission Bay.

And don’t f@cking worry about how I can afford a place in Hollywood and Brooklyn. That’s none of your goddamn business.

And to tell you what I know.

My brother lives in San Francisco, three houses from Golden Gate Park. He has his own law firm with offices in the financial district and in Marin County. My brother's best friend is an assistant US Attorney in Oakland and his wife also works in Oakland. My wife’s brother also lives in San Francisco. My company is based in San Jose, which is where most of the people I work with day by day are, though almost none of them live in San Jose. My boss lives and works in the LA area in Calabasas. I have been to both cities many times.

Well I haven’t ridden BART since around the pandemic so I don’t know what’s happening now. But I know I’ve heard it’s wild. I love SF. I’ve been thinking about getting a place there whenever I can afford it which doesn’t seem like it’ll be anytime soon. Sometimes I’ll drive there even if I can’t afford a room and sleep in my car and wonder the city. It’s a beautiful place. Come out more. Better place than Tulsa or OKC I can tell you that much.

In SF on a budget try getting a room at a hotel in China Town, it will be fraction of the price of a hotel downtown and much cleaner with better food in the area for delivery too.

Truth to be told I don’t take anything seriously it’s comical I’m an alcoholic and benzo addict who likely won’t overcome this sh!t but it’s pretty funny to watch it in third person bc this world seems like an absolute simulation. I won’t be around longer if I can’t get a handle but if I offended anyone on here I’m sorry. It’s not personal. There’s something wrong with me and idk wtf it is but all I know is LV tearing out the Tropicana isn’t helping any. https://www.tenforums.com/attachments/windows-10-news/91177d1485964822t-clarified-free-upgrade-offer-win-10-ending-july-29th-really-focus.gif What I'm seeing with these MLB parks are venues in the 30,000 - 35,000 capacity as proposed in the Portland Diamond Project and the Las Vegas project which clearly is a push for Nevada's largest city to eventually obtain all four major leagues and MLS.

There are cities like Nashville and Portland IMO may be ripe for MLB and more comparable options than LV.

Sure there is money in LV as everything associated with 'Sin City' may be more in line with the wager--where something like a pandemic could be disastrous for a city that is convention-tourist heavy and impressive with its 'glitter and glamor' among its bright lights and inexpensive hotel stays that chips away at your pocket book more adversely than a pick-pocket thief whose presentation had all the bad warning signs we sometimes choose to ignore.

The odds-on favorite when it comes to gambling lies with the house. Whether you're in Vegas or Thackerville where the lure plays on people's ultimate dream of fame and fortune--it's the Publisher's Clearinghouse theme of 'this could be me' and is it 'my turn.'

I'll take Oklahoma and its two largest major metropolitan areas any day--where you live within the frame of reality.

PS: Plutonic Panda, stay the course (you identified) on getting the HELP & TREATMENT you know you need--take that next step toward your physical and mental well being--I've lived thru this with my own family and its a constant struggle where you have to alter your life style, one-step at a time--ADDICTION MEANS LIFE LONG TREATMENT, my prayers for your recovery are with you my friend.
