What's the history of the shopping center on 12th and Lindsey where Value Foods is located? It would probably look at lot more interesting with the ugly stucco "colonial?" face ripped off.

Just the facts 04-02-2012, 01:52 PM Value Foods used to be a Homeland. jedicurt 04-02-2012, 02:26 PM Value Foods used to be a Homeland. it hasn't been in the past 8 years if it was one... I can't remember if it was ever a Safeway before it was a Homeland (although other Homelands were Safeways). soonermike81 04-03-2012, 06:38 PM There used to be a gym in the shopping center as well while i was at OU. Sooner Fitness later moved to a new building on 12th north of the Wal-Mart, I think. I think it was a gym/nightclub in one building (called Bongos?). Not sure what it is now. bbhill 04-04-2012, 09:19 AM The Buy for Less used to be a Valu Foods. There used to be some random rent a center in the far east lot. Everything was repainted last year as an "improvement". (It actually looks better). The area constantly reeks of fried chicken (Church's, Chicken Express, and Sonic) Someone needs to tear down the old Taco Bell and put something nicer in. kevinpate 04-04-2012, 09:53 AM Not sure what all is there now. A couple of years back, in addition to the grocery store, there was a start-up church, a booze outlet, Goodwill store / donation center, a cleaner's/laundry shop, a plasma center, a rental shop for furniture, appliances and electronics, and a day care center. The Goodwill has since moved to the old buy4Less (that was also Journey church for a spell) just off Alameda and 12th soonermike81 04-04-2012, 10:05 AM The Buy for Less used to be a Valu Foods. I was in town a couple of months ago and noticed that the Taco Bell across the street the the NE corner of the intersection. The one by Mr. Short Stop is vacant. |
