Snowman 07-09-2013, 06:19 PM Pretty creative name.
Good to see this continue to move forward.
I was expecting it was a working title that would have different branding later
The entity is known as "Bricktown Apartments LLC" but of course they can develop a different name/concept later.
However, there is great value in grabbing the Bricktown name, as it's incredibly well-recognized and promoted.
GoThunder 07-09-2013, 09:38 PM Application filed today to be reviewed by design review on 8/14 (see article above for details).
Also, it appears this project will be officially known as "Bricktown Apartments".
Does this mean that this is what the project will be marketed as, or is it just the name on paper? I really hope they come up with something better. I agree that Bricktown is marketable and well-known but "Bricktown Apartments" is so lame. With so many housing developments popping up downtown, each one should be distinguishable from the next.
"Hey where did you move to?"
"Bricktown Apartments"
"Oh cool, which ones?"
ChaseDweller 07-18-2013, 11:18 AM Saw drilling going on there this morning. Could be environmental assessment/monitoring wells or could be soil tests.

wsucougz 07-18-2013, 11:58 AM I like Bricktown Apartments. Why not.
Just the facts 07-18-2013, 01:40 PM I like Bricktown Apartments. Why not.
Because some people think apartments should be named like subdivision - evoking a sense of place without actually delivering it.
soonerguru 07-19-2013, 03:34 PM I like Bricktown Apartments. Why not.
Why don't they just name them OKC Apartments? Or, better yet, Apartments? Lol
GoThunder 07-19-2013, 03:42 PM Because some people think apartments should be named like subdivision - evoking a sense of place without actually delivering it.
It represents a lack of creativity IMO. We all know we're in Bricktown, why not add in some differentiation and uniqueness?
Rover 07-19-2013, 03:50 PM In the sense that they are the first, largest and only apartment development in Bricktown, maybe it isn't so out of line. Still isn't very original.
betts 07-19-2013, 03:50 PM While I kind of like the simplicity and lack of preciousness in the name, I foresee a time when it might get confused with other housing options in Bricktown.
Rover 07-19-2013, 03:52 PM I hope we have so many other developments down there some day it DOES get confusing and they have to change their name. Good problem.;)
GoThunder 07-19-2013, 03:53 PM While I kind of like the simplicity and lack of preciousness in the name, I foresee a time when it might get confused with other housing options in Bricktown.
My point exactly. It doesn't need to be anything crazy; a little creativity goes a long way.
rcjunkie 07-19-2013, 03:57 PM All this uproar ove the chosen name for a new apartment complex, WOW!!
OKCisOK4me 07-19-2013, 03:59 PM How about East Towne Apartments. SOLD!
Rover 07-19-2013, 04:00 PM How about East Towne Apartments. SOLD!
Are you from Wichita? They love spelling Town with and "e". Towne East Mall in Wichital
OKCisOK4me 07-19-2013, 04:05 PM No...Edmond. Speaking of, there is a neighborhood in Edmond spelled Olde Towne.

What uproar??
Just people discussing ideas, which is exactly what this site is for.
CaptDave 07-19-2013, 04:21 PM Sheridan Square
HangryHippo 07-19-2013, 04:27 PM Sheridan Square
I like it, but it strikes me as being just a bit too similar to Sycamore Square. Isn't that a complex downtown somewhere?
CaptDave 07-19-2013, 04:32 PM Oh yeah - forgot about that and it is similar. Sycamore Square is on the opposite side of downtown just west of Legacy though.
HangryHippo 07-19-2013, 04:37 PM Oh yeah - forgot about that and it is similar. Sycamore Square is on the opposite side of downtown just west of Legacy though.
That's true, and I did like it when I first read it.
Spartan 07-19-2013, 04:58 PM I'd do East End.
Dan L 07-19-2013, 05:12 PM I like it, but it strikes me as being just a bit too similar to Sycamore Square. Isn't that a complex downtown somewhere?
Personally, I do not think it looks too similar to Sycamore Square.
GoThunder 07-19-2013, 05:17 PM I'd do East End.
East Brick...?
Brick East...?
OKCDrummer77 07-19-2013, 07:08 PM East Brick crossed my mind, but that also made me think of Westbrick, the unfortunate nickname Russell Westbrook gets when he has a poor shooting night.
Just the facts 07-19-2013, 09:14 PM If you want to get creative how about Deep Center Apartments?
CaptDave 07-19-2013, 09:54 PM Or Brick Deuce Apartments .... but honestly I still kind of like Sheridan Square.
Spartan 07-19-2013, 09:55 PM I vote Down Deuce East Brick Row Phase 1 The Micropolitan and Phase 2 The Cosmopolitan.
It's so simple, yet poignantly descriptive and marketable.
CaptDave 07-19-2013, 09:59 PM Deuce East Row Plaza or The DERP for short!
GoThunder 07-19-2013, 10:09 PM If you want to get creative how about Deep Center Apartments?
I don't understand why all of a sudden you are against creativity. I am simply stating my opinion that in five years I think the developer will regret naming this project something so generic. Go to Dallas and find a project called "Uptown Apartments." Uptown is huge and you would be confused if you were looking for a complex by this name. Maybe the next time you're in town you can drive down the new Oklahoma City boulevard on the Oklahoma river right next to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in Oklahoma county. Oh and we can visit the Oklahoma tower.

haha... I'm surprised I haven't heard that one!
CuatrodeMayo 07-19-2013, 10:42 PM Deuce East Row Plaza or The DERP for short!
winning.
Why can't we name our developments like we used to? The ______ building or something?
I guess I don't really care until we start adding "at [district name]" on the end. That drives me crazy.
CuatrodeMayo 07-19-2013, 10:45 PM Let me dig out my Edmond subdivision name generator...
The Quarters at Bricktown Crossing East, lol.

I am not against creativity. I just think things should be named after location, origin, use, or historical context. If someone can accomplish that and be creative at the same time that is great. I take it you didn't like Deep Center Apartments; which describes both its location (Deep Center field at the Brick) and function (Apartment). I could also go for the following
Ft Reno Place
Perry Crossing
Metal Works
Residents at Sheridan
Residents at Main's End

Ah ha! Now it makes more sense. Didn't think about the baseball connection.

I like those, something like Metal Works or Stewart Place is congruent with the history of the location. Literally anything but "Bricktown Apartments"

See, creative and descriptive. They could even put in a RedHawks/Baseball themed cafe on the corner.

Yes! Or take it even further and just call it.... Here.

Praedura 07-20-2013, 01:04 AM Man, how did I skip over this thread? This is TOO much fun!
A really catchy name would be Deep Shi* Apartments (<--- replace '*' with 't' for full effect)
I can hear a tenant say "Welcome to my place. You're in Deep Shi* now!"

OKCisOK4me 07-20-2013, 11:01 AM How about Centerfield Way?
kevinpate 07-20-2013, 11:06 AM Not real concerned what they call it, so long as they don't market it to singles and call it Third Base.

bradh 07-20-2013, 01:56 PM If you want to pay tribute to Sherman Iron Works, why not "The Foundry" or "The Foundry at Bricktown"

Nice. But was that actually a foundry?
DowntownMan 07-20-2013, 03:31 PM I don't understand why everyone is getting all worked up over the name...the name could easily change before they start construction.
bradh 07-20-2013, 03:57 PM Nice. But was that actually a foundry?
I don't think so, I just thought it sounded cool.
TheSocialGadfly 07-20-2013, 04:34 PM Redbrick Residential
I personally like Sheridan Square though.
Spartan 07-20-2013, 09:25 PM Not real concerned what they call it, so long as they don't market it to singles and call it Third Base.
But it could literally be NE 1st and Base
Snowman 07-20-2013, 10:10 PM But it could literally be NE 1st and Base
It is closer to 2nd base.
