That side of town needs a grocery store.
There is no way I would live down there having to drive all the way to Moore for basic staples. There is so much development there is very surprising there isn't a grocery store. Then again, this is Oklahoma City and there are far less grocery stores per capita here than anywhere else I've lived.
I grew up in the neighborhood at I-240 and Sooner until I moved away when I was in high school. It seems like there is a lot more people living down there now but access to services has not improved.
yes it does. we live in that area as well. fortunately we can utilize the commissary on base but even that seems to be a bit of a drive. something other than a fast food place would be nice as well.

It looks like its really shaping up to be a nice suburban complex.
Once again though, I'll say that side of town needs a grocery store to be viable. There are way too many people living down there and for me that would be a deal breaker. That said, most people who would live down there would probably be affiliated with Tinker.

I agree with you, the area is long overdue for something closer, and I predict in the 2015-2016 timeframe that will happen (that's when Tinker personnel occupancy at GM/TAC will ramp up and I would think this apt complex would be built and fully occupied by then).
That said, per Google...
SE74th & S Air Depot to SE29th & I-40 (Sam's) = 3.5mi/6 mins
SE74th & S Air Depot to SE29th & S Sunnylane (Homeland) = 4.1mi/8 mins
SE74th & S Air Depot to SE15th & S Sooner (Walmart SuperCenter) = 5.1mi/11 mins
SE74th & S Air Depot to SW74th and S Santa Fe (Walmart SuperCenter) = 6.2mi/7 mins
SE74th & S Air Depot to N 12th and Eastern Ave (Crest) = 7.1mi/12 mins
So while not around-the-corner convenient by any means, it's not exactly arduous.

If the nearest grocery store is only 4 miles away, I don't understand what all the fuss is about haha. Where I live now, the nearest store is a Homeland is it's only about a mile, however, when I was little we lived out on Sorgum Mill rd. and the nearest was over 7 miles and I would have no problem living out there today, in fact, that's probably where I will choose to live in the near future. I love having a big house and big yard over the convenience of having a grocery store less than a mile. That's just me though.

Well it's only good if the store near you isn't a crappy one.
It's also not that they are just so far away. We drive to Crest on Douglas for our grocery trips. What we're wanting is something nearby (meaning within a mile really) of 240/Sooner, that is a GOOD option for picking up the forgotten items. That's why even a neighborhood market would be good. Small enough to run in and get those milk/eggs, but big enough that you're not going to be screwed on getting some more unusual things (and can make it your whole trip if you want).
As a note - the Neighborhood Market in MWC is about the same distance to the same WalMart in Del City as 240/Sooner would be. And that area also has two Crests, and a couple Buy 4 Less, etc....of course it also has a lot more people.

Only because of the stone color difference on the bottom. Personally, i prefer the look with the darker rather than having it all lighter in tone.

Just drove by these this past weekend and surprised by how far they have come. I swear the last time I was out that away there wasn't anything more than dirt work.
