View Full Version : Worst Movies of All Time
RadicalModerate 02-27-2012, 07:51 AM Now that the Awards for The Good Stuff have been handed out . . .
(And in light of the related threads this Oscar season) . . .
How about The WORST Movies of All Time?
This is my short list:
Battlefield Earth
(Starring Vinnie Barbarino in Klingon makeup. Bad Klingon makeup.
The Scientology behind it is probably accurate.)
Exorcist II: The Heretic
(Richard Burton on crack or some other mind-altering substance.
As a priest. In a tinfoil hat. Fighting demons.)
The Skydivers
("The only film about parachute jumping without parachute jumping."
A Mystery Science Theater Klassic.)
Red Zone Cuba [a.k.a. "Night Train to Mundo Fine"]
(Fidel Castro lasted this long in Cuba primarily because of this film.
The best part is John Carradine's rendition of the theme song, which should provide a clue to its badness.)
The Day the Earth Froze
(Proof positive that there are bad Scandinavian directors.
And in which we are introduced to the mystery of The Sampo.
A mystery that remains unto this day despite repeated viewings.)
There are no "wrong" answers . . .
Except maybe Citizen Kane.
(Or Plan 9 From Outer Space)
HewenttoJared 02-27-2012, 07:56 AM My short list is shorter.
The Happening
Roadhawg 02-27-2012, 07:58 AM Starship Troopers 3
Richard at Remax 02-27-2012, 08:43 AM wild wild west, dinner for schmucks, battlefield earth, my boss's daughter
as for movies that are so bad they are good: any ed wood movie
White Peacock 02-27-2012, 09:20 AM I suppose the Twilight films go without saying?
Richard at Remax 02-27-2012, 09:25 AM not the worst movie of all time, but most disappointing has to be Avatar. Im a huge James Cameron fan too.
Lots of terrible movies out there and although it's far from the worst, of the more recent films I found Love and Other Drugs shockingly horrible.
Terrible idea, awful script... Why would two great young actors like Jack Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway sign on for this mess? Hathaway in particular was just painful to watch.
RadicalModerate 02-27-2012, 11:29 AM A better question might be:
Why would producers put up the money?
My guess would be to get people hypnotized by TV/Cable Reality Shows
into the theaters . . . In order to get "malled" by popcorn prices. =)
(Perhaps a clue is provided in The Classic:
"Walk Hard" starring that funny dude who played Dewey.)
BBatesokc 02-27-2012, 01:19 PM Water World
RadicalModerate 02-27-2012, 02:20 PM If I were (or we was) keeping track . . .
WaterWorld would be down there around number 16.
With a bullet.
Right next to a couple of other Kevin Costner presentations.
(not including "Dances With Wolves").
Still . . . There are no WRONG answers . . . =)
OKCisOK4me 02-27-2012, 02:26 PM Saw this when I was a kid and it scared the crap outta me:
The Incredible Melting Man
RadicalModerate 02-27-2012, 02:32 PM That just makes it "scary" . . .
Not necessarily "bad" . . .
(Like/as in/such as: "The Beast of Yucca Flats")
However, having not viewed The Incredible Melting Man, I will add it to my Netflix list . . . =)
Battlefield Earth still stands--at least in my humble opinion--as The Worst Movie Ever regardless of intention or result.
(insert Theremin arpeggio c/o ????? =)
Swake2 02-27-2012, 02:41 PM You are all very wrong.
The third worst movie of all time is: Gymkata
US Olympic Gold Metalist Kurt Thomas stars as a secret agent/gymnast who merges gymnastics with karate to fight for freedom! A few well placed pommel horses help along the way.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089243/
The second worst movie of all time is: Never Too Young to Die
John Stamos stars as the young son of James Bond who fights an evil genius warlord/hermaphrodite played by Gene Simmons. Yes, that’s right, Gene Simmons has breasts and he’s not afraid to show them to the world.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0091621/
The worst movie of all time is: The Room.
It’s not close, it’s by far the worst movie ever made. I can’t tell you what it’s about because it’s not really clear what it’s about. There’s this guy, and he has a girlfriend, and then he doesn’t.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0368226/
RadicalModerate 02-27-2012, 02:44 PM Is that ["Nothing but trouble"] an actual film title?
Or is it simply a personal take, regarding a disappointing remake, of some old Walt Disney/Haley Mills flick? =)

The links are here c/o Swake (and welcome)
Stay tuned for YouTube. =)
To [Quote] Mel Brooks: "It's good to be [wrong]"
(my only question would be how many actually "bad to worst" movies one can choose to view in a lifetime . . .
i started paying attention to stuff like this back in about '57 and now i'm nearing 60 =)
Okiezmom 02-27-2012, 02:48 PM Angels and Cowboys. My friend thought this was one of the best movies ever and made the rest of our gang sit through it several times. It was by far the worst movie I have ever seen.
RadicalModerate 02-27-2012, 02:57 PM I would probably agree with you.
But that isn't the point. =)
Glad you are still friendz.
TaoMaas 02-27-2012, 03:10 PM Battlefield Earth still stands--at least in my humble opinion--as The Worst Movie Ever regardless of intention or result.
It gets my vote, too.
OKCisOK4me 02-27-2012, 03:13 PM That just makes it "scary" . . .
Not necessarily "bad" . . .

I actually found it on IMDb's Worst Movies of All Time listing so don't tell me I'm wrong, lol.
As for Battlefield Earth, I love that movie! John Travolta, Forrest Whitaker & Barry Pepper...
RadicalModerate 02-27-2012, 03:22 PM Yet . . . How does it compare with "Nothing But Trouble"?
(are there, like, giant radioactive ants/aunts messing with the picnic and melting all over it? =)
(for some reason, i just thought of "Smokey and The Bandit"....and its forebears/progeny)
OKCisOK4me 02-27-2012, 03:24 PM I don't think it's your job to criticize other people's picks. It's an opinionated thread based on his or her own liking. Your POV has nothing to do with ours. Just enjoy our choices.
RadicalModerate 02-27-2012, 03:29 PM I think you are right.
Do you agree?
OKCisOK4me 02-27-2012, 03:36 PM I agree ;-)
BlackmoreRulz 02-27-2012, 05:08 PM Freddie Got Fingered
Freddie Got Fingered
I change my choice. Freddie Got Fingered is the worse movie of all time. So bad I blocked it from memory.
OKCisOK4me 02-27-2012, 08:10 PM Daddy would you like some sausage!?
Hahahahaha
cjohnson.405 02-29-2012, 08:28 AM Periscope Down w Kelsey Grammar. We've seen some not so hot movies at the Drive-In just because of the Drive-In movie experience but this is only one we've left.
The worst film I have personally paid to see is "Saturday the 14th." Strictly awful.
Bigrayok 03-01-2012, 02:51 PM Cheech and Chong's "Still Smoking" is one of only about two movies I ever walked out on. Their previous movies were stupid but funny, but this movie was not even funny.
Bigray in Ok
MikeOKC 03-01-2012, 03:17 PM Whoever said anything by Edward Wood, Jr....I agree. No question the worst director to ever make movies. Anybody on this board could probably do a better job. There's a couple of good documentaries about Wood that lays it all out. The movie "Ed Wood" was actually a fairly positive portrayal. The real Ed Wood was a piece of work.
MadMonk 03-02-2012, 05:48 AM The worst I've ever personally experienced was Blue Velvet. It's the only movie I've ever walked out on and asked for a refund. Nothing But Trouble is a close second, but for me it almosts falls into the "so stupid it's funny" category.
HewenttoJared 03-02-2012, 05:58 AM it almosts falls into the "so stupid it's funny" category.
That is a hard distinction to make. I can really enjoy bad movies.
Larry OKC 03-03-2012, 07:35 PM O Brother, Where Art Thou?
Great cast and I tried, really, really tried to like the film...tried even harder to watch it all the way through...but finally gave up on it.
Close 2nd, Eyes Wide Shut. Absolutely dreadful.
TaoMaas 03-04-2012, 11:21 AM O Brother, Where Art Thou?
Seriously? If that's the worst movie you ever saw, you need to get out more. lol
oneforone 03-04-2012, 11:43 AM Napoleon Dynamite
RadicalModerate 03-05-2012, 08:08 AM The first time that I tried to watch Napoleon Dynamite--on account of how "hilarious" a lot of people were saying that it was--I couldn't take more than about ten minutes of it. By the tenth time I watched it I had finally gotten the humor. (I wonder if it is streaming on Netflix . . .)
Roadhawg 03-05-2012, 08:54 AM The worst I've ever personally experienced was Blue Velvet. It's the only movie I've ever walked out on and asked for a refund. Nothing But Trouble is a close second, but for me it almosts falls into the "so stupid it's funny" category.
That was a weird movie... so was Eraserhead.
RadicalModerate 03-05-2012, 09:29 AM They don't get any weirder--or more disturbing--than Eraserhead.
Dustin 03-05-2012, 09:30 AM O Brother, Where Art Thou?
One of my favorite movies.
RadicalModerate 03-05-2012, 09:34 AM Likewise . . .
It completely changed my opinion about the talents of George Clooney.
Dustin 03-05-2012, 09:34 AM The worst one I've seen recently is Attack the Block. Waste of time.
Swake2 03-05-2012, 01:43 PM Likewise . . .
It completely changed my opinion about the talents of George Clooney.
O Brother, Where Art Thou is a great movie. It’s an academy nominated movie by the Cohen Brothers. Along with Clooney and John Turturro it stared Tim Blake Nelson, who is from Tulsa.
Here's some trivia for you. Tim Blake Nelson, despite his characters appearance in that movie, just happens to be George Kaiser’s nephew.
