Sooooooo, as I was saying, love S&B Burger Joint, especially the sweet potato fries with peanut butter and bacon. Mmmmmm. (Sorry to interrupt your b*tchfest).

Can you buy an S&B Burger at that colorful building owned by Wayne ?

Are their sweet potato fries thick or thin? Greasy at all?

Just wanted to share that this month's special burger is a chicken fried steak burger. I had it today with swiss, mushrooms and jalapeņos and it was the best I've ever had - and its big enough to share!

The only down side was they didn't bring my sweet potato fries until I was already done with my burger (and was ready for my check).

Is there a difference between a chicken fried steak (on a bun) and a chicken fried steak burger?

This is the 2nd or 3rd mention of peanut butter on a burger but it doesn't sound that good of a combination and I like burgers, bacon and peanut butter but necessarily all at the same time. While intriqued, not sure if I want to try something like that on a pricier burger.

Order the burger and take some peanut butter with you. Just put
on a bite. You'll be surprised.

I'm going to try the 9th street location today. Can I expect the same wait time as the May location, or does it move a little faster? I'm trying to make sure I have enough time during my lunch break.

I find the wait times for food to be about the same (longer than they should be). However, the downtown location is much larger so you get seated faster and order faster.

Ok, thanks! I have experienced the longer than normal wait for food at the May location as well, even when it's not that crowded.

Yeah, I go for lunch from time-to-time, but I can't ever take the wife as she has only an hour for lunch - and even though she works downtown and her office is literally right off the sidewalk, she still can't make it there and back in an hour.

When we go together its for dinner when we have lots of time.

We got there around 11:45. There was a 20 minute wait inside, and it wasn't unbearable outside so we sat on the patio. It took a solid hour to order and pay. Other than a decent wait for food it was overall a good experience. One of friends did order a double chicken breast sandwich, and one came out hot, and the other cold. He told the waiter right away, and his only response was that one must have been cooked before the other. When we got our checks, he told him that he took the extra chicken breast off the ticket, but still thought it was kind of weird that he didn't offer to replace the sandwich rather than taking it off the bill.

Did you happen to mention anything to them about the burgers being too well done for you or ask them to prepare one the way you prefer? Most restaurants don't ask about how well done you like a burger but that doesn't mean they wouldn't try to accommodate you.

Ate there today and the waitress mentioned after she took our orders that all burgers are cooked to medium and if that was ok. We said yes and they were medium when I ate them.

Take some peanut butter with you the next time you go out and try it

I have been to the 9th street location on Friday afternoons with co-workers and was pleasantly surprised to find that sliders and smothered fries are half off from (I think) 4-6pm. I don't know if this applies to both locations, but that is a pretty darn good deal. The people I have been there with have commented on how much they enjoy the music and atmosphere. It's like a haven for those of us who were teens in the 90s, music-wise. And the food is pretty darn tasty. Everyone left a happy camper.

I haven't been brave enough to try peanut butter on anything yet, but I'm not a huge pb fan. So, maybe someday, when I'm feeling adventurous. Otherwise, there is plenty else on the menu that I do like to keep me happy.

Oh, and as for speed of service...haven't noticed any problems, but 5pm on a Friday is pretty early. It's good to avoid peak times at a lot of places.

Fairly certain S&B doesn't offer this, but PB Waffle Links ain't bad.

Cook up sausage links and drain well. keep warm.
Make/heat your waffles.
Slather a layer of PB on each (or mix some PB and blackberry jam together and then slather).
Place a layer of links across one pb waffle.
Cover with the other PB waffle.

Ahhh, heaven.

Works well with patties too. I just prefer link sausages.

oh... i hadn't realized that coaches went out, too. i'd think that city bites isn't long for this world, either.

i just don't know about that corner. the two existing s&b's are in decent locations. 50th & may has plenty of offices around to keep it busy at lunch and (if memory serves) it's connected with electro lounge so that it has evening business as well. 9th & broadway has plenty of surrounding offices to keep it busy at lunch and the area has become a destination in the evening... i-240 and walker has a few offices in the area but i'm not sure the demographic is looking for a $10 hamburger. the area is pretty dead in the evenings. i just don't see this working out for them.

The way they Tweet about it, I think Coaches is actually somehow tied to S&B now... maybe some investment dollars involved? They talk about the S&B/Coaches menus in south OKC and Norman.

EDIT: I meant to say, "On Twitter, they talk about..."

That sounds possible. I drove through there a few days ago, because I assumed that S&B was going in to the now closed Primo's location, and Coaches still appeared to be open to me.

This is my biggest fear. I went to the original location on May and NW 59th about four years ago and it feels like they should open one maybe every 2-3 years, but since that time, they have opened the one on 9th street, Norman and SW OKC.

The one by Quail Springs is supposed to open in about a week or so. They've been opening new locations and converting old Coach's locations into S&B's in the last year. So far, all have been a big hit. I didn't think the one on the south side would do as well but apparently it does.

Unless HSRG starts popping out multiple Garage Burgers and Beer then I think S&B will be fine because though the burger market is saturated here, you can't get beer at many of them.

Founder's area and 9th st. will be fine for a long time coming...as long as they don't hedge their other locations with these 2, then at worst they'll have to close a store or two. South Walker and Norman should be okay but I've never been to them nor am I familiar with those areas.

This new location is pushing it to me. I think they not only should have waited, but I think a different spot would have served them better. If Denny's can't pull it out, you're taking a risk. And restaurants have not done well in this area of QS.

That has already started happening. There are 3 Garage locations in the OKC area now. Norman, Edmond, and I-240 and Western. The Norman and I-240 locations are within walking distance of an S&B.

I like both places but if I had to choose one over the other it would be The Garage. They have always been more consistent. I have had a couple of not so great burgers at the S&B's on 9th Street and I-240 and Walker.

Been meaning to try the S&B in Norman. Just haven't yet. Youngest son felt it was just ok.
May spell trouble for S&B if it is only just ok. One thing we do not have a shortage of in Norman is decent burgers. Then again, they may have more going for them than food for some. Son is under 21 still, and i rarely imbibe so that's not a big deal for either of us.

O'Connell's, Garage, Abner's, are who I ht the most, along with, though it tends to weird some folks out, Braum's at Porter/Robinson or the one at Robinson Crossing. Slow, but decent.

And restaurants have not done well in this area of QS.

Don't know why you say that. QS area restaurants have generally done well when they offer good products and concepts. There is a lot of competition though. In the immediate area are any number of successful restaurants... Shiki, Cafe 7, Cool Greens, Jimmy's, Olive Garden, Red Lobster, Abuelos, Johnnie Carrinos, NuNu, BJs, Fridays, PF Chang, Texas Roadhouse, Bravo, Red Robin, First Watch, Avanti, Applebees, IHOP, Longhorn, Baker Street, Swadleys, Genghis Grille, 5 Guys, Qdoba, Mimi's, Fox and Hound, Mahogany, Schlotzskis, Twin Peaks, Bikinis, Jersey Mikes, Lotsa Noodles, Wendy,s, Arby's, Fazolis, China King, McDonalds, Subway (2), Raising Cains, El Chico, HuHot, Chilis, McCalisters, Joeys, Roccoco, .... and I am sure I am missing several... all within about a mile of the new S&B.

Denny's, Cheeseburger in Paradise, Carabba's, Applewood's, Steak & Ale (cheap shot, I know), and I'm sure some others I have missed, have closed up shop. It's not impossible, but it's shown some weaknesses whereas some of the establishments to the east have been more consistent.
