They can come kidnap the one from Norman. Most of us won't miss it.

please note the total absence of red font from my part of this post

We had a Whataburger 20 years ago where Los Vaqueros is. Didn't work then.

There has never been a whataburger in mustang (Los Vaqueros was an old Burger King). Hoping they come!

Wrong Jeff. I knew the cooks that worked there. Positively we had a WAB in Mustang.

jeff, is correct. I lived in Mustang when the Burger King was open and went there occasionally. It was never a Whataburger. I was in Mustang for most of the last 40 years and would have remembered Whataburger.

And you are wrong also. We also had a Serapios where the tag agency is located now.

I have always heard it was a burger king, it looked like it was a burger king, definitely never looked like a whataburger, the tag agency could have been a Serapios, but i also heard it was a Del Ranhco many years ago.

It was a BK when it was built. I ate there in 1985. I went back again sometime later and it was closed w/a sheriffs paper on the door talking about a defaulted loan of $400K. When it was a WAB was about 3-4 years after so 88 or 89 maybe? I emailed the Mustang Times to see if they could confirm it being a WAB since some on here doubt that it was. I did eat in there though. The cooks were the two women who used to cook at Daughtery's Country Store. (Now Victory Mart)

LOL, it became a whatabuger after BK, "it never was a whataburger"...lol. I came to Mustang in 95, so that was before my time. Anyway, if whataburger returns (or here for the first time), i hope it stays in business.

Re: Whataburger Restaurant in Mustang:

Thank you for taking the time to contact Whataburger Restaurants. We always enjoy hearing from our biggest fans! We did have a franchise location in Mustang, Oklahoma. It closed in 1991. I hope this answers your question.
Thanks again for your continued loyalty and patronage. Have a wonderful day!

Best Regards,

The worst type of person in the world is one who goes to ridiculous lengths to prove they are right about a crappy fast food chain existing in Mustang, America.

Well ... it is Mustang after all. Some say one could write a book about anger in that town, or was it publish a book?

Apparently the old Mustang clique is still active. If you correct one of their own, then all hell will come down on you. Ignorance is a choice not an affliction.
I've actually made many great friends in Mustang and will have to say that the way it was 25 years ago is not what I see now.

Mustang City Manager Mike Rutledge said Whataburger will soon break ground in Mustang at tonight's city council meeting. More information will be provided at Mustang Times (http://www.mustangpaper.com) once it becomes available.

There is a "Coming Soon Sign" directly East of Arbys on Mustang Rd. that indicates that will be the new location of the Whataburger.

Hmm....what makes people think that a Whataburger will be successful in Mustang since the only location closed in 1991?

Surely you don't mean the only location in the metro? The Whataburger website shows 5 in OKC, one in Norman, Moore, Midwest City, Edmond, Shawnee and 14 more in Oklahoma.

I thought Mustang had about 10-12 whataburgers at one time?

I don't know why Mustang allowed this location. It seems to me they should have located across the street between Arby's and KFC. Anything to spruce up that crummy parking lot and strip center. Western Days will also be affected by this location as well.

i wish they would build a whataburger along the kilpatrick in the quail springs area

LOL, Mustang can't dictate at which properly zoned location a business can locate just because it would "look" better somewhere else.

That abandoned Taco Bell building would of been a good place for a new Whataburger. That's an eye sore. Anyways I'm glad we are getting one.

They sometimes can reject a places Site Plan and so on.

Nothing can be rejected for the reasons cited earlier though.

There was a Whataburger in Mustang because I used to work there.
